From the moment we booked Varu to the minute we left, we have never received such incredible service in our lives.
To ensure your holiday starts off seamless, I highly recommend downloading the Varu app on your phones. This allows you to speed up check in times at the hotel so you can begin your holiday quicker, make resturant reservations, see what's on at the resort, book excursions, gym classes and much more.
When arriving to Male airport, we were greeted with a smile by the Varu staff. They took our luggage from us and dropped it onto the speedboat which took us to the resort. The luxurious speedboat was only a 45 minute transfer from airport to the resort. The speedboat was immaculate inside, with air con, WiFi and water on arrival.
When arriving into the resort, we were acquainted with our host, Julia, who ensured our holiday was fantastic from start to finish. We were greeted with a glass of champagne and then taken to our water villa.
On our way to the water villa, Julia did a mini tour of the island. I honestly couldn't believe how beautiful every corner of the resort was, truely breathtaking. Julia was available to us via WhatsApp should we require anything during our stay. Julia was extremely informative and no request was too big or too small for her. Julia also helped my partner plan an incredible wedding proposal during our stay and for this we are extremely grateful as these memories will be with us forever.
Water villa 312- I have absolutely no words to describe how perfect our villa was. Upon arrival, the bed was beautifully decorated, extremely clean, mini bar filled up to brim along with some snacks. The view from the villa was out of a picture, complete paradise. The villa provides Elemis shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, hand cream, sun cream and more. There is no need to bring your own. There is also a dressing robe, slippers and hair dryer. Nasru cleaned our villa for the whole week we were there, including turn down service. We can't thank Nasru enough for the hard work and attention he gave our room. Varu are honestly incredibly lucky to have Nasru part of the team as he is so hard working and kind. Nasru always greeted us with a smile which was so lovely to see. Nasru ran me a bath one day which was absolutely beautifully decorated with flowers. Nasru also decorated our bed after our engagement which was an incredible surprise. Thank you so much Nasru, you truely are a star.
The food and drink at the resort was exceptional. Everything was made to an incredible high standard and it was absolutely delicious. I highly recommend booking all 3 restaurants to eat at- Charcoal, Nu & Kaage. Not only were these resturants incredible, so was the buffet resturant, Lime&Chili. Whilst at Lime&Chili, we met the wonderful, Rahul. Rahul was an incredibly polite and attentive member of staff. Rahul honestly made us feel so loved and welcomed at the resort and couldn't do enough for us. On many occasions, Rahul would decorate our table for us beautifully, requested the chef make us our favourite curries and always had time to speak with us. Rahul was more like a friend than a member of staff, which is not something I can say about other resorts I have stayed in. Rahul's energy was incredible and thoroughly loved getting to know Rahul and thank him for making not only our dining experience incredible but the our whole stay. Thank you so much Rahul.
Lime&Chili - this was the buffet resturant for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The breakfast was absolutey amazing, there is so much choice from an omlette station to French toast. Similarly for lunch and dinner, you will be spoilt for choice!! Every Tuesday afternoon, there is Brunch at the buffet which we loved so make sure to visit this. Every Wednesday evening there is Asian night. This was incredible, cuisine ranging from Indian to Japanese, the food was honestly mouth watering. Every Friday was Maldivian night. On Maldivian night, we were shown around by the lovely, Sonu, who described every dish to us and provided lots of delicious recommendations. Maldivian night is followed by traditional Maldivian dancing at the Rogue bar which was brilliant.
Charcoal- this was a steakhouse resturant. The views in the evening were just as incredible as the food. Everything was so flavourful and fresh. The service received here was outstanding. As we visited this resturant the night we got engaged, our table was placed in under a verandah and decorated beautifully.
Nu- we visited Nu for lunch. This is located on the Manta jetty so the views was picturesque. The service we received here was top notch. This was a Mediterranean style seafood resturant. I can honestly say I have never eaten such delicious seafood in all my life. I highly recommend the lobster and seafood platter. My partner isn't that much of a seafood lover but he was speachless at how incredible the food was. I will be dreaming about it for years to come!
Kaage- this was by far our favourite resturant we visited. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a lovely drink and dressed into traditional Maldivan sarong, Mundu. Before we were sat at our table, we also watched a short clip detailing the Maldivian history which was fab. When we were sat at our table, we were greeted by the beautiful Aagy who served us all evening. Aagy was incredible and made our evening unforgettable. Aagy recommend beautiful wine and food for us to try which did not disappoint. The moment we met Aagy, it felt like we had bumped into an old friend. Aagy is such a beautiful soul who ensured we had a wonderful evening and dining experience. We had such lovely conversations with Aagy, who took the time to get to know us and visa versa. We can honestly say we have made a friend for life in Aagy. We will deeply miss Aagy and her beautiful smile. I can't stop repeating this but Varu is incredibly lucky to have such beautiful staff such as Aagy. Thank you Aagy for making our last night in Varu unforgettable. You are truly one in a million.
During our stay and part of the Varu plan, we had a 45 minute spa treatment included. Be sure to book this in advance. We opted for the neck, back and shoulders couples massage. This was absolutely incredible from start to finish and refreshed us for the rest of the holiday.
Unlimited water sports was included in the Varu plan (not including jet skis) this was brill and would definitely say to make the most of this as the part of the ocean this is on is so still with incredible views. The boys working on the water sports are so lovely and helpful and always have a smile on their face!!!
At the bay rouge bar we met the incredible Shah. Shah was honestly the most friendliest guy and couldn't do enough for us. Shah always made sure our drinks were full and always made such an effort with us and always had time for a chat! Shah worked so hard and always had a smile on his face. We felt like we had made a friend in Shah. Shah was incredibly proud to work at Varu and you could see this in his positive energy everyday. Shah we will miss you!!!
Lastly, we want to say thank you to Bella who captured the most beautiful proposal photos. Bella was so lovely and helpful and we will always be reminded of Bella when thinking about our perfect proposal.
To conclude, this resort is beyond perfection. I would recommend this resort to anyone!!! Thank you Varu for the incredible memories 🤍
