After searching for weeks for the right resort to go to with our 10month old and 26month old we decided on this resort for various reasons. They have a "baby day care" that no other restort offered. In the information received it also said that there is 24/7 room service INCLUDED in the all inclusive package (with a tray charge) as well as snacks/french fries/bauqets served daily during the day at the pool. This was perfect because small children does not always want to eat at certain times and usually over lunch time they sleep. I was VERY DISSAPOINTED to find out on day 1 that there were no food served outside breakfast / lunch / dinner time as was sold to us. There were 24/7 room service BUT the menu and the food was sub standard plain awful and the tray charge you find out when you order is a set price that is very high for a south african and you can buy burgers and chips for the whole family for the price - what is the point of all inclusive then? The food was great some days and others not so much... I ordered the same dish for luch a couole of days apart and got a completely different dish the second time, same ingredients but not used the same way. Also what the menu says is not always the ingredients on the dishes you get. I would say 30% of the staff is very friendly and was welcoming and helpfull and always smiling the other 70% made us feel unwelcome and that they dont enjoy their jobs or the guest being there. The service is slow especially at the pool for drinks you wait a very long time. The hotel is beautiful. The room has everything you need. The lady that cleaned our room Ansha was the highlight of the stay she always greeted the children and ask about our day and even asked me the nap routine to be sure to know when she can clean our room. Overall we enjoyed our stay except for the room service and the fact that food was not available as was stated when the package was sold to us and we really wanted that because a couple of times lunch did not suite us because our children was sleeping and our 26month old was always hungry before dinner time - which is to late for a childrens resort as dinner only starts at 7pm when most small children are sleeping already. The spa treatment that was included was wonderful BUT the prices of the spa is rediculious if you are a South African clearly they cater for the european market which is just sad. One 45min message is the same price as 3 of the same treatments in South Africa. Want to say that we will go back but dont think we will, overall we were dissappointment and expected a lot more for the price we paid Read less

The Awali is the cheaper Hotel at the Heritage Resort, but for us this was pretty fair. For a stay of 2 weeks, we had a great time there. All the staff was always friendly and hard working, we want to thank @Nidhi for keeping our room in the best condition and fullfill all our requests during our stay. But also the employees in the restaurants and the reception always had their friendly mood and helped us as much as possible. Every day gardeners are keeping everything beautiful and in good shape, we also loved the restaurants there, you will always find there something good to eat. Also the Bars are pretty and serve many different drinks, for this we definetly recomend to book with an AI-package, otherwise it will get expensive in the end. At the hotel you have 3 pools (family, chillout and bigger beach-view pool), they were fine for us to cool down and have a little swim. The beach itself is not that big, but it got some nice sand. To go into deeper ocean water, you need to pass some sharp small rocks and corals after 2-3m of water submerged sand. Once you are in the water you can swim there aswell, the only problem there is a current that occures directly infront of the beach, but this gives you the oppertunity to swim on a point without moving away. But this shallow water gives you also the oppertunity for learing different water sports like kite surfing, wind surfing and so on, directly at the C-beach club which is directly next to the hotels. All in all we enjoyed out stay there pretty much, even if there were some smaller but not really disrupting damages all over, but since the hotel is 18 years old, this is all fine. So if you are looking for the very high end hotel you would need to reserve for the Telfair Hotel which is directly next to the Awali. Read less

Just returned from a family holiday at Heritage Awali Golf and Spa resort and it has to go down as one of, if not the best holiday I've ever had. The location, facilities, staff, service are all 5 star! And we couldn't wish for anything else. The resort is right on the beachfront and is linked to it's neighbour 'Le Telfair'. The weather is extremely dynamic. One morning we woke to a tropical downpour and two hours later there was clear blue skies and scorching hot weather. The food across the resort was great, the buffet at Savana is a lot better than the standard buffet you would find at a normal hotel. The other restaurants on site offered some great dishes. You can also book into the restaurants in the Telfair and you get a credit against the bill - the credit pretty much covered all the meals we had. Some of the more expensive places (Gin'ja being one) we went slightly over but only by £14 which was more than worth it. The golf course is fantastic, make sure you book in advance and i would advise a buggy for each round. The restaurant at the golf couse is "O'Grills" this was the best meal we had all week, the food and service were of equal quality, absolutely outstanding. The staff are amazing, they cannot do enough for you. It feels a shame to only give a few mentions as everyone was great but there were a few that went above and beyond. Nidhi our housekeeper was amazing, she greeted us everyday in fantastic manner and did an amazing job every single day to keep our room clean (we are pretty untidy when on holiday) but nothing was ever too much trouble and she is a credit to the team. Anish Sky - we met Anish at the infinity Blue bar. This bar is right on the beach and is a fantastic setting for a drink at any time of the day but the sunsets are particularly impressive. Anish gave us a private Rum tasting session and had a lot of knowledge about all things Rum - he even let us try his own home-brew. Anish made sure that we were always attended to promptly and that we always had enough food and drink. He was able to create cocktails specifically to each of our specific tastes and then continued to supply is with these for the whole holiday. He is a really friendly, personable and professional barman. He is also a real asset to the team. Finally a true gem for the Heritage resort's staff was Melanie on the front desk. She greeted us on our arrival and made sure we had absolutely everything we needed until we got the minibus back to the airport at the end of our stay. One day my partner was unwell and Melanie arranged for specific food to be made and delivered to the room for 24 hours until my partner was feeling well again. It is difficult to summarise with one specific thing what Melanie did to leave such a great impression. It is more appropriate to just recognise that her assistance was non-stop for 11 days and she deserves to be recognised as one of the resort's most valuable members of staff. To summarise, if you are looking for somewhere that's got everything then this place is it. I can assure you, you will not be disappointed if you stay here. Thank you everyone at Awali and we will definitely be back again in the future. Read less

Big rooms, friendly staff. Overall had a great relaxing holiday. Always checking up on us if we were happy. Our 21 month old loved it. Especially the heated family pool. Will definitely go back. Was also the best weather we’ve had from all our visits to Mauritius.

Stayed at the Awali for 2 weeks for our honeymoon. I think we were perhaps expecting too much given excellent reviews posted on here. We've stayed in much better all inclusive resorts in the Carribean. The hotel seems to have an identity issue. It mixes families with young children with couples on golfing holiday's. We did not find the pool areas relaxing at all and was not the holiday we expected. The all inclusive is confusing and it seems like they want to charge extra at every available moment. The beach was also disappointing and is full of dead coral and sharp stones so take beach shows if attempting to enter. There's a very strong current right by the shore which we thought was dangerous. The buffet restaurant was average we very little choice. Al a cartes were OK but portion size was very small and the service was very slow. The infinity blue restaurant was very nice and the manager Shamaya was very accommodating and friendly. The Indian restaurant wasn't great and we found the waiter rude. Drinks are advertised as premium but they give you cheap alternatives as much as possible. Even the advertised Aperol is now a brand called 'Spritz.' The best meal we had was in O'grills which is not included in the all inclusive package. Avoid the Chateau. Very average meal but so expensive for what you receive. Staff were very rude to us. We asked for a bottle of house wine and were charged for a 60 euro bottle!! For the money we paid there are much nicer resorts. Read less
