This is our second stay at the Heritage Le Telfair Resort (we were there in March 2019) and sometimes it is not a good idea to go back to the same hotel as it might not live up to your high expectations. We were proved so wrong. Last time we had a Garden Suite but when we booked for September the Garden Suites were fully booked so we booked a Seaview Suite and it exceeded our expectations. A beautiful room with separate lounge set in a quiet and private area of the resort. It was wonderful to sit on the patio in the morning and enjoy the sea views. Everything about the hotel is fantastic - the staff are so friendly and accommodating and do everything to make your stay so enjoyable and seamless. Nothing is too much trouble - from taking the shuttle to the golf course to ordering your meal. We were on the Gourmet Bliss package which is so brilliant as it includes almost everything your heart desires. We played golf every morning, with everything from your green fees and golf cart being included. The staff at the golf club were so pleasant and again made it all possible to enjoy our round of golf. To me it is one of the best courses I have ever played on and enjoyed challenging myself every day - in quite strong wind (and sometimes rain!) The restaurants are amazing and besides Le Palmier and Ginga (I still dream about their food) we experienced the Grillhouse steakhouse at the golf course and their steaks were fantastic - so much so that we went twice cancelling our reservation to eat at the C Beach buffet. Once again we had an awesome experience at Le Chateau Domain where they make your dining experience so memorable. We took the bikes on offer one afternoon and cycled around the estate which was great and their bikes are all in very good condition and well worth the experience. To mention the number of staff who stood out - would probably mean that I would need to mention everyone but Ashley from Le Palmier was always there to welcome us for lunch and Anoushka and Majorie, our resident hosts made all our bookings possible - even when we did last minute changes. It was nice to see that most of the same staff members were there from our previous trip and recognised us. They all seem to love what they do and can't wait to be of service. It is our plan to come back in March 2020 and I hope that the staff are all still there because they make it so special and keep the standard of service very high. We also arranged through the hotel a quad biking trip that is very worthwhile and lots of fun. Riding with a guide in small groups, the trail goes through the cane fields and hills with stunning views of the sea to a spectacular waterfall where you stop to swim before heading back. The terrain is challenging so you can really put the bikes to the test! All in all the resort offers so much to choose from and we had a busy week enjoying every moment and experiencing everything on offer. We will definitely be back in March and know that again the Heritage Le Telfair will exceed our expectations. Read less

We have just returned from another great holiday at the Telfair Hotel. It was our 4th stay at this wonderful resort and once again, the staff could not have been more efficient, friendly and helpful. Therefore I am not going into detail on how comfortable the rooms are and how just absolutely amazing the resort is etc., etc. But would just like to commend the staff members that excelled in every way. We always stay in the Junior Beach Front Suites and they are amazing and when we go as a family the Gourmet Bliss package works perfectly for us. Our personal team leader, Melvin, was very professional in looking after our every need and went the extra mile to assist with special food for our 8 month old grandson. The breakfasts were great with Mukesh looking after us attentively. He knew exactly what we wanted and brought it to our table wihtout us having to ask. The lunches at Le Palmier were amazing with Ashil running circles around us to ensure everything was always perfect. Dinners at Ginja were very tasty as usual and C Beach club Italian evening was great and Dominque was attentive and friendly. On the beach we were always looked after amazingly well by Oranna and especially Ranjeev who couldn't do enough for us. Kris at Cavendish as well as all other bartenders were great and always keen to learn how to make new cocktails we favoured. The baby club was superb and our grandson loved spending his mornings there with Deborah while the family were out playing golf. Dr Amrita and her nurse Sajid did a great job in trying to remove the tentacles of a sea urchin our son had stood on. The golf course is world class and amazing and the staff there are very helpful. Unfortunately we did not take any names this time as it seemed that we had different personnel everyday but each and every one of them were great! We did not book at the Chateaux this time as we had a bad experience two years prior. Our daughter and her fiancé went and said it was lovely! The only negative and complaint we have is C-Beach lunch, where the service was shockingly slow!!!! They were totally not switched on there somehow. The lunch menu was pretty average and we never went back because of the slow service. Last year we were unable to get a table at Kuzini, the Italian Restaurant at Awali as they always seemed to be fully booked. I sent the hotel an email 3 weeks prior to arrival requesting every alternative night at Kuzini and was told that we could only have the first night (our arrival night) as they were always fully booked. This is absolute nonsense as we were one of 5 tables there for the 3 hours during which we had dinner. The service is shocking! Waiters were totally unattentive to patron's needs and the food was very average to say the least. My advice is....if you are staying at the Telfair then keep the meals local, you will not be disappointed. Awali is dark and dingy compared to the elegance of Telfair. We will definitely be back....thank you everyone at Telfair. The Moss/Fellgiebel Family Read less

Overall we enjoyed our stay, but for us a 5 star hotel should not have the number of issues we encountered, hence a 4 star review. Issues began at check in. We booked over 6 months ago and requested a ground floor suite. We emailed the hotel 2 weeks before arrival to confirm our request. We appreciate that requests can never be guaranteed, but having travelled extensively for more than 30 years, we have never previously had a reasonable request denied. When we queried why we had been allocated an upper floor suite, one of the managers, in a courteous but dismissive way told us that they gave priority to families when allocating the ground floor rooms. OK, but during our 5 night stay, we saw very few families (being term time) and they had no idea why we had requested a ground floor room - we could have had mobility issues that prevented us staying on an upper floor with only stair access. TIP - don’t expect your requests to be accepted especially if you are a couple. We arrived at 11am after two long flights via Dubai & were told our room would not be available until 2pm. Again we accept that early check in is not guaranteed but we had joined their members club as it offered this subject to availability. Well it wasn’t available when we arrived. TIP - don’t expect early check in unless the hotel is operating well under capacity. So we went to Heritage Beach Club for lunch whilst waiting for our room to be ready. Service was chaotic and just shy of abysmal. We waited 10 minutes before I had to attract a waiters attention. Ordered two beers and a pizza to share. 10 minutes later a 2nd waiter came over to check our order and room number. 10 minutes later 2 beers arrived, followed shortly by a pizza in a takeaway box! We politely asked for some plates and cutlery, which were duly provided. We also had drinks on the beach one afternoon and the service was again far from accomplished. TIP - don’t expect the same level of service at the Beach Club as the rest of the resort. The resort is cat friendly. At both Annabellas & the O’Grill Steakhouse at the golf club you will see cats wandering around in the restaurant meowing for attention. Whilst we understand the need to keep a check on the local rodent population, I’m not sure they would get a 5 star hygiene rating if in the UK. On one occasion we saw a lady stroke one of the cats and shortly afterwards start scratching herself. We also saw one cat eating food presumably dropped on the floor. TIP - don’t visit these restaurants unless you are happy to be surrounded by cats whilst eating. There were also a few minor issues during our stay e.g. no hot water in our room on two consecutive days during the day. It was obviously turned off for maintenance after we had breakfast and turned back on at tea time. On both occasions there was no prior warning or communication about the issue - we had to phone reception to check what was happening. So why not 1, 2 or 3 stars? Well, the staff with the exception of the manager we encountered at check in were all friendly & helpful, the room was perfect (albeit on an upper floor) & kept spotlessly clean, Le Chateau, their fine dining restaurant was a special evening, and the golf course was superb. I also see many reviews saying how good the All Inclusive Gourmet Bliss package is. Yes it does take away the worry about how much you are spending, but we were quoted €300 ( approx £270) per night extra above our B&B package to upgrade. We spent an average £133 per night and by no means skimped on food or drink. I think you would need to eat some serious lunches, drink a lot more than we did and use a buggy to play golf every day to make this worthwhile financially. Read less

The hotel is exceptionally luxurious and everywhere we went we were treated so well. The rooms are beautiful and ours overlooked the river which was stunning. The room is large and has all the necessary amenities from shampoos, to safes and the correct amount of plugs in the right places. We loved the choice of food and amazing drinks. The staff which need special mention was Ashvin at Cavendish, who is a star with his drinks. Yoven at Le Plantier, Naresh, Wendy, Yoan, Sheetal, Priscilla, Pritam, Tushita, Jitendrah who made our stay so extra special and a special mention to Gavesh who simply goes out of his way all the time. The staff are simply awesome. The choices and food available were also simply fantastic and we seemed to spend so much time eating and then choosing the next place to eat – it was heavenly Read less

We decided on Mauritius as the half way point between our family in Perth, Australia and our home outside London. Trailfinders recommended the hotel as one suitable for four adults (two grandparents and two parents) and one child just under three. They could not have found us anything more ideal; the hotel was perfect. The rooms we had (Seaview) were large and beautiful and had all the amenities we could have hoped for and all the small extras that really make a difference; toiletries (reef safe), iron / ironing board, safe, Nespresso machine ...... They seem to have cleverly allocated families with small children to one large area of beach villas and pool so that we never felt that we were disrupting those on an all-adult holiday. Our "host" found us each day to make sure that we had the restaurant bookings we needed, knew what events might suit us, and helped make our stay feel even more special. The restaurants were superb (with a possible exception of Gin'ja which we may have tried on an "off" night) though our favourite was the newly developed C Beach with it's nightly-changing theme. Don't get the wrong idea about their buffet offering; this was something special. Chefs at work in open kitchens making everything look tempting. The other restaurants are also excellent with a different atmosphere in each We rode bikes through the golf course and estate, enjoyed the Sunset Cruise, went dolphin watching / snorkelling, glass bottom boat, paddle boarding, horse riding on the beach ...... then rented a car for a couple of days and saw other parts of this wonderful island. Ten days was not enough and there were so many things on offer which we just didn't have the time to try A particular mention has to go to all the staff. From the front desk welcome to the hosts, restaurant staff, to the lovely people keeping the rooms spotless, everyone was kind, helpful and a credit to the hotel Would we go back? In a minute .... though may have to wait until next year unfortunately Read less
