The hotel

A luxurious throwback to the colonial days when Mauritius’ sugar industry thrived. Rambling grounds, residential atmosphere, and bespoke furnishings create the feel of a Victorian sugar baron's mansion. The homely feel here doesn't mean you forgo resort treats though: there are lovely pools, water sports and exquisite dining and drinking spots, from the Asian Floating Market to the beachside Boathouse and Grill. The UNESCO World Heritage site at Le Morne Mountain provides a befitting backdrop to the resort with some of the world's best diving and kite-surfing only moments away. Days are best spent on the white sand beach, one of the island's best, with its iridescent lagoon.

My wife and I decided, over a long debate, that we will have our honeymoon here. It was outstanding and amazing, starting from the amount of care that the staff had with us, going forward to everyone in the resort. Activities are plenty and don't get fooled, every day you will most likely find something to do, or to attend. Starting from a gym, tennis court, spa and ending with all kinds of water sport activities. The beach and water are simply amazing, giving the beauty of the place, even being served with goodies from fruits (even fresh coconuts). When it comes to eating everyone will find something appealing for their own tastes, as they have 5 restaurants, accommodating different cousins from India, International, Turkish, Pan-Asian and Japanese. The cleanness and the attention to details feel right at home here, especially with the preparation of our room for our special occasion and for the day to day care of the establishment overall. Special shout-outs to: - Sharmilla - who was our butler and attended our every need, helping, guiding, and taking care of us with everything. Thank you once again, Sharmilla (and no "sorry" this time :D)!!!! - Manisha - who's the person you need to start your morning with as she brings a lot of joy and happiness, making you feel blessed to be there - Jason (from the Floating Market restaurant) - which made our service exceptional during our 3 visits there (it's worth going at the last dinner there, trust us) and who was kind to answer all the questions we had about the food - Jeshvin (from the Indya restaurant) - who prepared for us an amazing table with arrangements, was very kind in discussing with us and trying to make us feel great with each visit - Alvin (manager Indya restaurant) - who helped and cared about our needs at every step and last, but not least, Mike, Julianna (from our last night at the Floating Market) Thanking everyone there for making us feel special and leaving a big smile on our faces! Best of luck to everyone, Mr & Mrs Chelba Read less

Everything was exceptional at the hotel. We had our own butler (Archy) which took care of everything for us at the hotel. Furthermore, the restaurants that are in the hotel were super good especially the Indian restaurant and the service there was exceptional especially from Jeshvin. We would definitely go back to Mauritius and stay at the JW.

The JW Marriott is a beautiful complex. The attitude of the staff towards the guests is perfect, everyone is so kind, communicative, everyone cares so much about the guest. The food is varied, tasty, to be enjoyed. A big thank you to everyone, but especially to the people who had something to do with our wedding, namely: Azize, Vince, Sara, Malik and his colleagues from the Indian restaurant, Ravi and his butlers. A big thank you to everyone as well as a big compliment to everyone! 🤍🇭🇷 Read less
Image of the Tripadvisor rating Decent hotel if a bit impersonal due to scale and let down by service not up to standard of 5* prices

We stayed two nights, and there were elements we really liked. However, it’s a bit too large and impersonal and let down by only ok service which didn’t match up to the 5* prices. Lovely location for a hotel, on a beautiful long beach with beautiful blue water, overlooked by Le Morne. The hotel main building is impressive, we liked the day beds by the main pool, and the villas were what you would expect from a 5* hotel. But it was a bit too large and impersonal, row after row of villas meaning quite a walk back to the main building. The staff were generally all very friendly but not very attentive or at the standard you would expect for a 5* hotel. For example, they left the ice bucket full of melted ice in the room after housekeeping had been, there was no hot water on our last morning, and we had to get up twice to order food for the day bed by the pool. Also it’s very family friendly, meaning a lot of noisy kids for a couple / honeymoon (as we were). So all round a bit average for the price, albeit in a beautiful location and impressive hotel. We have had a fantastic time at JW Marriott Mauritius . The staffs all made their best to look after the guests . Veevanshee , our butler , took care of everything for us from the moment we checked in to our room up to our departure . She organised our daily activities , dinner booking and frequently checked on us to ensure that everything is going well and we are having pleasant time in Mauritius . Henna the duty manager , Kevin at concierge and all the staff at the restaurants and bars were amazing . The only downside was that the cleaning staff needed more training , which that was brought to Henna's ( duty manager ) attention . All in all we had an excellent holiday and JW Marriott in Mauritius is a great place to stay . Thank you to all at JW Marriott Mauritius . A&S. Vahedi Read less
