Get comfy, this is a long review. We stayed at Lagoon Attitude for 10 nights at the start of June. The hotel and grounds are beautifully presented and we received a warm welcome. Our room wasn’t ready as we arrived early, but were able to start using the amenities right away. First stop, Taba-J! Room: We stayed in room 617. The room was well presented on arrival with a nice welcome note on the bed. The view from our balcony was fantastic. We could see the main pool, Seabreeze Bar, Wave Bar (we could enjoy the evening entertainment from our balcony instead of being amongst it), and even a little sea view! The room was nicely decorated and functional. However, there are some things which could do with a freshen up, like a bit of grouting or plastering here and there, but nothing to take away from the nice room. The only downside really was our sink was very slow draining. Also, we were expecting UK sockets following reviews we read online, however, there was only one in our room, which was a bit inconvenient. We mostly used it to charge our power bank which could charge our other devices. However, there’s about 20 UK sockets in the gym so we charged our phones in there whilst we did our work outs. Whilst the room was generally clean, the floor was getting a bit sandy so a sweep up with daily clean would have been appreciated. Food: The food at Lagoon Attitude was generally excellent. For reference, my husband and I are big foodies, love trying local food and enjoy cooking. The buffet restaurant was very good and varied, with the only disappointing night being ‘Italian’. Breakfast was always excellent and there was so much choice. Freshly made waffles and crepes, smoothies, yoghurts, fruit, nuts, a cereal station, pastries, fresh eggs cooked to order and a highly impressive bread selection. Genuinely, the selection of breads at each meal was exceptional. So much variety, all warm and freshly baked. We even saw the pastries and breads being hand rolled before being baked. Lunch at the buffet was also very good. Slightly smaller than the evening selection, but still lots of choice. My go to was always whatever was being freshly made, usually grilled fish and chicken. Dinner was generally to a really good standard for a buffet. Show cooking stations, freshly grilled fish and meats, salads, rices, veggies, breads, stews/curries and sometimes fresh scratch made pasta. There was always a huge selection of mini desserts with everything from chocolate cakes, fruity cakes, mousses, brûlées, ice cream, fruit and it varied every day. Gala Night was a buffet highlight and we got to enjoy it twice. Fancy buffet, as we called it. Highly impressive selection and I couldn’t fault it. Crab claws, king prawns, tuna, oysters and cured meats amongst other cold offerings, as well as freshly grilled meats and fish, huge bread selection and the biggest dessert station of the week! Don’t book the other restaurants on Wednesdays, you won’t want to miss Gala Night! The hotel also puts on ‘afternoon tea’ as a staff member called it, by the main pool. Freshly made crepes, popcorn, cakes, biscuits and some savoury bits, as well as self-serve teas every afternoon from 3:30pm. It was very nice, but I think more variety and more savoury options in particular would be good. I love crepes, but the novelty started to wear off. Taba-J: Don’t miss it! Local inspired food ranging from rotis to ‘Magic Bowl’, rice and noodle dishes as well as bbq meat and fish. Glass bottles of Pepsi Max and glass bottles of Coca Cola. It can get very windy here though. Lemongrass: Wow! The food at Lemongrass was truly exceptional and you wouldn’t guess you were at an all inclusive hotel. The starter took my breath away, unique flavour and texture combinations which were stunning. The chicken, fish and beef mains were cooked beautifully. The sesame ice cream dessert, again, took my breath away. A unique and unexpected combination of textures and flavours which was incredible. Our waiter on both occasions was lovely and often said hello and chatted to us at other times around the hotel. I can’t remember his name, but he wore a pink jumper. Coral: Much like Lemongrass, Coral was a world away. The a la carte menu provided enough choice and it delivered in flavour and presentation. Beautifully cooked seafood and amazing flavour combinations. We also booked on for the Seafood Lovers menu as we wanted to do something really special and different during our stay. It was about 3000 Rupees each and it was a set menu at Coral. It was exceptional and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The service was wonderful and it was a lovely night. However, when we had the normal Coral menu the night after, we found it just as good, with the same level of service. So with that in mind, although the Seafood Lovers menu was brilliant, I wouldn’t recommend you spend £100 on it as the standard Coral menu is just as good (I actually preferred it!) and it was included on our all inclusive package. Kot Nou: An insight into local cuisine. Small tapas style servings of curries, lentils, rice, chutneys etc. Lovely food and they even arranged a Birthday cake surprise for my husband. Activities/Entertainment: I highly recommend the Catamaran trip, it was a holiday highlight! Book straight away when you arrive to make sure you get on. We left about 9:45am and got back around 4pm. The boat team were very accommodating and always made sure everyone had drinks. The snorkelling was a highlight. We saw thousands of fish, it was incredible! I asked for a lift jacket at the boat house before we left as I’m not a confident swimmer. This allowed me to completely enjoy the snorkelling experience. Next up, the crew made a very impressive bbq for 23 people. They put it together with ease and it was very delicious. We ended the trip with an hour on a beach before heading back. I recommend trying the rum jungle juice! We also did the glass bottom boat trip twice. It’s about an hour and goes on the snorkelling trail. There was lots to see and Uttam from the boat house pointed out the fish and told us what they were, he was a great tour guide. Included in all inclusive. We rented a Kayak and had a trip around the lagoon which was fun. This was included on our all include package. Pools: Theres 3 pools at the hotel, the main pool near Wave Bar and 2 near Coral. My favourite was the sea view Coral pool. It was chilly, they all were, but it was always empty and the sea views were lovey Refill Shop: I think this is a great idea. The shop encourages you to only get what you need, which therefore means less waste. Also, you grind your own coffee beans meaning the option for fresh coffee in your room, so much nicer than an instant coffee in a plastic sachet! There’s also glass bottles of Pepsi Max and Coke, Fanta and beers you can collect too. There was also a few savoury snacks you can portion into a bag too as part of all inclusive. I recommend the banana chips! Coffee (and drinks): Coffee lovers, don’t worry. The coffee was generally good, but did vary a bit depending who made it. Usually however, we had cappuccinos prepared to a good standard, often with latte art. The pouring coffee at the breakfast buffet also had a nice flavour and much better than I expected. Other drinks included Coke, Sprite, a large selection of juices, as well as milkshakes. Lots of alcoholic drinks to choose from too. The rum based cocktails I had were very nice. Juice Bar: Worth a visit, or two! This is a supplement of about 300 Rupees per drink which was charged to the room. Freshly made juice, packed with flavour. Spa: We booked a 50 minute relaxing massage for the morning after we arrived. The spa was very tranquil and it was a lovely experience. The massage was excellent. We rebooked for the following week and was given 10% off. We had the pain relief massage the second time which was similar to the relaxing, except firmer and deeper. Both were excellent and well worth the money! It was about 11,000 rupees for 2 people to have 2 massages. Highly recommended! Gym: The gym is small, but there’s enough to keep up some fitness whilst on holiday. We also visited CrossFit Grand Baie twice. Equipment included treadmills, a Concept 2 rower and static bikes, as well as a multi-gym, dumbbells ranging from 2kg-24kg, small barbell, medicine balls, mats and a skipping rope. Most of the equipment was brand new Dogs: They’re lovely! They mostly kept to themselves as they seemed quite timid, but there was one we named ‘Kira’ who followed us everywhere. She even came to see us off when the taxi came on our departure, I think she wouldn’t have got in if we’d let her. Give her lots of strokes if you see her. Negatives: 1. Being asked for our room number did get annoying. It was inconsistent too, some people asked and some didn’t. I know it’s an eco thing, but surely there’s a way for an eco or reusable wristband or something to identify all inclusive. 2. Speaking of eco, generally very good and applaudable. However, I didn’t understand the tennis balls. We played Padel tennis on 3 occasions. The rackets are free to hire, but we had to pay 500 rupees for a new set of balls (later found out you can get second hand balls for 250, but they didn’t tell us that). This doesn’t seem very eco friendly. Surely we should have just put a deposit on the balls, and pay 500 rupees if we didn’t return them. A new set of balls for every customer seems like a huge waste. We even returned our set of balls (practically new, only used 3 times) and they can now resell them. Top Tips: 1. Pack water shoes, you’ll need them. 2. Book all your restaurants when you arrive, if not before via email as we did, because they fill up very quickly. 3. Book your boathouse activities straight away too. Snorkelling and the boat trips can get cancelled due to weather conditions and the next day might be full. Book a few in advance. 4. All the information online says to buy Rupees when you arrive as the rate is better. Correct, although the airport didn’t take card and only accepted £ in cash. So, we ended up withdrawing the maximum amount from a cash machine each day whilst we had our car rental. However, to pay for the car rental, we had to get the Rupees from the hotel which cost us more. To be honest, unless you’re planning to spend huge amounts, I’d order your Rupees at home and bring them with you for ease. The rate is not that dissimilar and will save a lot of hassle, especially if you don’t have a car to get out of the hotel as there isn’t a cash machine nearby. It definitely costs more at the hotel though, so avoid that if possible. Recommendations: 1. Escale Creole- I highly recommend a visit to this restaurant. Google it! Think Kot Nou, but set out in a garden about an hours drive from Lagoon (it’s worth it). The food was exceptional and a true Creole cuisine experience. Stunning. 2. Pop Car- We hired a small car (Suzuki Alto) for about €27 per day for 5 days. Simple form online and easy to arrange. Someone arrived with the car and paperwork 30 minutes later. Easy. Be mindful of how close other drivers get to each other, sketchy overtaking and dogs on the road. Otherwise, it’s fine! 3. Taxi Service Mauritius- Our Tui transfer was due to pick us up at 12:30 on our last day for our 16:30 flight, which meant not a lot of time to do anything that day. However, the day before I contacted Taxi Service Mauritius on WhatsApp as they offer very reasonable priced private day trips, which can be tailored. We were able to create a custom trip on the day of our departure, which included 7:30 pick up from the hotel, drive to the south of the island to visit Benitiers Island & Le Morne Mountain View Point, followed by Chamarel Waterfall, then The Rhumerie de Charamel and finally the Seven Coloured Earth. What a trip! All before departing at 1pm to drop us off at the airport all for about £80! Our driver was great, he showed us some sights and even took photos for us at the viewpoints. Plenty of time at each stop, you need about an hour at the rum distillery and an hour at Seven Earths. Fantastic way to end the holiday! 4. CrossFit Grand Baie- We love CrossFit and keeping active on holiday. It’s a 15 minute drive from Lagoon Attitude. Read less

Hotel and surroundings are very nice. The garden is beautiful, staff is very nice and accommodating. At night it felt like we were in middle of a jungle which was an extra. Being eco-friendly is a plus. Water refill stations all around the hotel which comes very handy. Food was amazing even in the buffet, there was always plenty of choices to eat, everything clearly labelled for any allergies / intolerances. Every Wednesday there was a gala dinner where people supposed to adhere to the dress code, sadly some people just completely ignored it which we found very disrespectful. The first Wednesday we were there, there was nothing dairy free in the buffet for dessert and the lovely pastry chef prepared a dairy free dessert for me, even brought it to our table. We tried all the restaurants the best was Kot Nou, which we absolutely loved. Lemongrass for us was very blend and tasteless, also the waiting staff just disappeared on us after they brought out the dessert. We dined twice at Coral, as the second time we were offered a honeymoon dinner. Which was a lovely touch by the hotel. Our room was nice and spacious with a little patio with sea view and close to Kot Nou. Only let down was the blocked shower on our arrival night and again 3 days later. Our room had a very bad sewage smell due to this. Day entertainment was poor, and I went to complain about this, this resulted me to get in for 2 valley ball games but after that there was nothing as “nobody wanted to participate”. I’ve seen Anderson casually walking off many times after when activities should been finished, but clearly there were no activities as such. The hotel also has many stray dogs which they say are to be neutered, however seen many male dogs with their testicles or females looking pregnant. My personal favourite was Snoopy who turns out to be owned by the hotel and not for adoption. For a few days seaweed got very bad and took a few days to clean it off (after a big tropical storm). All in all we had a lovely 10 days there and felt like we were in paradise. We would definitely return as we felt like home. Read less

There is only a small entrance into the sea from the man made beach with coarse sand, but that has been blocked by a massive amount of seaweed stretching out about twenty metres which has stopped all but a very few people from being able to swim. You have to wade through mountains of weed to access the sea which is not pleasant. There have been three or four guys trying to scoop up the weed with buckets and even a tractor trying to clear it but to no avail. It seems this a continual problem judging by previous reviews so it’s surprising and disappointing that the management haven’t found a way to sort this. Read less

We have just returned from 9 nights at Lagoon Attitude and it has been the most wonderful and amazing time. A stunning hotel in an amazing setting, with excellent sea views, swimming pools, restaurants and bars and enough seating and sunbathing space that you never need to worry about finding somewhere to relax! This review will focus on the staff, known as family members, because they are truly what make this place special and memorable. Broadly, they are all so attentive and it is clear that they want to help you make the most of your stay. They really did put me and my partner first and made the night of our engagement that extra bit special. The fact that within a few days of arrival they recognised us by name, and knew what we’d like to drink at different times of the day was excellent customer service. Even before our arrival, they were attentive over email for the questions I had, which makes a welcome change as it meant I felt ready for my arrival. I want to take the opportunity in this review to thank some specific staff members though, from across the spectrum of work, and I hope management will pass these messages on too because they are fully deserving of it. Firstly, I must say Rita our housekeeper was truly excellent and was always very helpful, very welcoming and made sure our room was like our first night, on every night of the stay. Secondly, Permal in Coral was the most attentive server I’ve ever come across and made our two nights eating there so very special. I must also thank Azagen in Kot Nau and Benitier for his excellent service, taking the time to explain what each of the local cuisine plates tasted like, to help us make our choices. Pranav in Wave Bar ensured we always had a drink when we were sat enjoying the nightly entertainment or simply waiting for dinner - thank you. Next, I would like to recognise the actions of Marcello in Coral and Taba-J. To help celebrate out engagement he made the effort to find a bottle of champagne somewhere on site, even though Coral didn’t have one on location. He also remembered the conversations we had that night about really enjoying seafood, meaning on our return a few days later, we weren’t even given a menu and instead provided with a special menu based on our previous conversations - an absolutely incredible touch. Finally, I’d like to thank a young man called Kheswar for organising water polo and making the afternoons around the pool incredibly fun. The fact he even enjoyed us for card games in the evening was just an incredible touch and it was a pleasure getting to know him - sorry I didn’t get chance to say goodbye on checkout day but I know it was your day off. Moving on from the staff, I would like to say how incredible the food was. I’m converted, and honestly have no issues saying Mauritian is now my favourite cuisine. For anyone visiting, Kot Nau is a must for that local cuisine whilst the seafood on offer in Coral is second to none. Even the buffet style main restaurant was excellent - you never felt like you were having the same meal twice and I’d recommend the Wednesday night gala night for an incredible experience. We didn’t do many of the ocean based excursions, however, the feedback I heard is that these were really interesting and insightful. We did attend the on site spa for a massage though and I would recommend this to anyone attending - we came out so incredibly relaxed that we very nearly missed our dinner reservation as we carried on the relaxation! Finally, and this is not a negative on the resort, but I was this review to be as helpful as possible for future users. We went in June which is just when the winter months start to hit in Mauritius. We got excellent weather for 7 of our 9 days but the last two the wind really picked up. It was still very warm but if wind is and issue, then based on my conversations with the staff, you are better off going a few months earlier (April time) or in the Mauritian summer. Overall, I would recommend this resort to everyone and anyone. You will have the most incredible time. It truly is a slice of paradise. We will definitely be returning when we get a chance! Read less
