They were friendly attentive and you could tell they really cared Now for the food. The resort had so much to offer Starting at Beach Rouge which was honestly our favourite, Chef Deepuck is the most delightful , talented and kind gentlemen we’ve met. He catered to gluten free so well and made dishes on request too. He really went above and beyond to make sure our dietary requirements were met but also that we were enjoying each meal at Beach Rouge. The ice cream chef at Ici, Michael, was also Other staff that stood out were the following. Vishnu, who was always around. He made our stay feel more homely and always had time for us. He talked us through how to make an old fashion and the history of it- a session we’ll never forget. Akshay, great waiting staff, always attentive and on hand for our needs. Akil, great bar waiting staff. He had our drinks waiting for us before we could even order and could not do enough for us. Ashwan, really kind and heart warming.   After a wonderful stay in the south of Mauritius at JW Marriott, Le Morne, we decided to continue rest of our journey in one of the luxury hotel – Luxe Grand Gaube. This resort is very popular amongst visitors especially for destination wedding and so on. However, our check in process was not very pleasant. After a long trop from South Mauritius, Casella Zoo, we reached there at 4 pm. There was no welcome drink for us and we kept waiting for nearly 1 hrs as Ms. Lisa at the reception was struggling to check some details. Then Ms. Sanjana came to the rescue. When the initial experience is not well, it says for rest of our stay. We were offered a room which felt so small and worn out interiors and furnishing. When we shifted to another room, it had a lizard near the desk (they killed the lizard with a spray) Room no. 3044 (if I recollect it correctly). Its just opposite and accessible to the ICE the ice cream shop over the beach. This room was better than what was given to us earlier. Finally we got comfortable staying here. The resort is spread across with demarcated areas for Adult rooms, family rooms, villas. Service: The service at restaurant were made better because of few staff which I have mentioned below in my special mention section. Housekeeping were tirelessly managing the dropping off of luggage as it seemed navigating a little difficult with a lot of manual work, Restaurant: There were 4 restaurants in total. The main restaurant (The Palm Court) is lively with live music/performance. The spread was good and even we got Indian options. Bodrum Blue is a Turkish restaurant but the menu was not super impressive and was very expensive. Inti was Peruvian restaurant, however we didn’t try this. Last one was Beach Rouge which is basically a bar restaurant just near the beach. Sport/amenities: It has a lot to offer for sports activities and is complimentary which is the highlight of our stay. They have Tennis courts, Paddle tennis court, Gym, Cinema, a lot of beach activities which are complimentary including scuba diving, sailing and so on. Please check picture on the list. There were various activities organized by the resort which is published everyday “Fitness & wellness”. One activity which I attempted was Qi Gong and Beach Zumba. There were other pools – Adult pool (near the adult rooms), Family pool at the Palm Court. PLAY - Kids club: is situated very far off beyond the Tennis court. It is very inconvenient to send kids all by their own. It had a tortoise, soft play area, kids pool. The Junk Art is also a highlight where they assist to create stuff from best out of waste which my daughter enjoyed. They also had a “Tree of Wishes” where you can put up wishes and hang it over the tree. There was a lot to do on the resort but no one explained what was there on the offerings. The staff can be motivated to attempt and make guest happy and comfortable. They need to be trained to be able to make a situation better by being proactive and addressing the issues especially for family with young kids. Nevertheless, I would like to mention few staff members who ensured that they made a good impression on our stay to make it more comfortable. Sports Club – Lindsay, Romi, Emanuel. Junk Art – Anaise and Mario (I couldn’t get to hear your Deepika Padukone story) Coach Dan who was very friendly and taught be the art of Qi Gong, I still follow this now and it is very helpful. The Palm Court – Antish, Akshay, Rishi and Dhiraj – they were very friendly and helpful, Chef Singh (Indian chef) Special thanks to Vinesh for taking care of our overall stay. Overall it could have been best of our stay which few of their other staff could have managed it well. Read less
