Upon arrival, looked really nice, room was ready even though it was before lunch. Had a room overlooking the lagoon with a hot tub, the room was nice and generally in good condition but probably ready for a refurb. Plenty of storage room, good size bathroom and shower plus an outside bath, we didn’t use this. Used the hot tub a few times but, there seemed to be an issue with temperature control, first time, it was scorching hot, turned it down a bit but then it was quite cool and wouldn’t heat up, maintenance guy came, emptied and refilled with hot water but again it was really hot and he had locked the temperature adjustment so we had to manually top it up with cold water. Beach looked really nice but, quality of the sand was disappointing and water wasn’t very clear, it was quite muddy underfoot. Sunbeds were plentiful and there was no reserving them at silly hours, could get one at most times of the day. The adult pool was fairly quiet and whilst rustic, definitely needs a bit of TLC, especially the beds and decking. Couldn’t really fault the food, the buffet choice and quality was really good, couple of issues with getting coffee once seated at breakfast but started to pick one up from the coffee bar on the way, this served really nice coffee. Ate at the smoke house once for dinner and was a bit disappointed with the ribs but, had lunch there a few times which was really nice, burgers were delicious at the burger bar close by. One issue with Mediterranean restaurant on first night, they seemed to have forgotten us after the starter and then the meal was really hot and overcooked as if it had been microwaved. Ate at Inti restaurant which wasn’t included but, was discounted by 30%, food here was delicious but on second visit, it was a bit chaotic as they seemed overworked and saw some customers being ignored and waiting ages for a drink and menu. Was a bit disappointed at having to pay a supplement for some items on most menus , especially lamb chops, things which were included were priced at not much less than the things which were at a supplement but still had to pay 66% of the price! Other annoying thing was snacks in the room were chargeable and some drinks, my wife wanted Hendricks gin but would have had to pay for it but, could easily have ordered 10 other types of gin which seems a bit strange. Most of the staff were really nice and service was great. Overall, happy with the stay and would consider a repeat visit. Read less

Third time at this hotel. The staff are amazing and so welcoming as well as friendly and helpful. In particular the two restaurant managers Ashwan Kumar and Ricardo went so out of the way to provide us with the best table and service every day of our two weeks. Thank you both. This would be reason enough to come back again next year. Well done Lux… Read more

The weather and sunshine hours are always better than in the rest of the island and is close to beaches like Pereybere and Mon Choisy if you like to move around a bit. The staff is friendly and polite from the check in. Specially the people at the Lux Cafe, those guys are brilliant. If you use the gym during your stay (nice, modern facilities), pop by afterwards and get a protein shake, these are amazing. Another highlight of the Lux Grand Gaube is their management and how much they care about their guests. After a couple of minor issues at the beginning of our stay, we’ve been greeted by Stephan and his team, who wanted to turn our experience around, and they managed to do that an even more. They collected our feedback and made amends on the spot. Goolshan and Rupesh tried their best to make our stay there (during our wedding anniversary) something memorable, and they definitely achieved it. If you’re from the EU, roaming in Mauritius can be a problem to stay connected : not in the Lux. There is wifi available in every spot of the resort, without even needing to change networks. Wonderful experience. Many thanks again to the brilliant staff! Read less

Really nice place but well overrated for the cost and experience. Certainly not 5 star to us. Seasoned traveller and rather underwhelming in comparison to cost. A plethora of reasons why it was sub par. We had a lovely suite, buffet was great… a lot of the other aspects including very inexperienced staff let the place down. Countless times of ordering food / drinks either without a response or no service. We went on a holiday the previous year about 40% lower cost and a remarkable difference in service and star quality. Many nice aspects, but simply not worth the 6 star price for 4 star experience (We spent £10k for 10 days) Beach nice - not spectacular A premium price without any incentive to return Read less
