The hotel

Completely renovated in 2017, this innovative resort has been designed by Kelly Hoppen and delivers an eclectic mix of effortless sophistication and relaxed informality, as well as signature LUX* touches. In a peaceful location, rooms overlook the triple-bay beaches and calm lagoon. There are beautiful gardens to wander in; stopping awhile to lounge on beanbags and hammocks dotted beneath coconut, banyan and filao trees. There are land and water sports galore, plus a world-class golf course nearby and bikes for exploring tropical hillsides or the local markets and village of Cap Malheureux. The LUX* Me Spa is a true haven, offering a range of indulgent treatments as well as yoga and dynamic exercise classes. Dining-wise, you’ll be spoilt for choice, with delicious island-inspired and international dishes. Chat to the chef and watch your meal being created at The Palm Court, savour the cultures of Peru and Argentina at INTI and visit Under the Banyan for mouthwatering burgers, wood-smoked meats and inventive cocktails at the French Kiss Bar.

Just moments away from a small fishing village on the north coast of Mauritius. Transfer time from Mauritius International Airport: 1 hour 15 minutes.

Hotel information

186 rooms and suites. All rooms with air-conditioning, private furnished balcony or terrace facing the sea, satellite TV, telephone, complimentary WiFi Internet access, tea/coffee-making facilities, mini-bar*, safe and hairdryer. Superior Rooms have a large rainfall shower (no bath) and 1 king-size bed, sleeping maximum 2 adults and 1 child/teen (extra bed on request).

All Inclusive option: includes breakfast in Palm Court, lunch in any à la carte restaurant and, for guests on excursions, a picnic basket (request at reception 24 hours in advance). Afternoon tea. A la carte and buffet dinner in all restaurants (except INTI Peruvian restaurant). A selection of drinks including soft drinks, tea, coffee, water, juice, beer, wine, spirits, cocktails and liquors. Each restaurant and bar has the 'All Inclusive' drink menus available, except The G&T 100 Club and Rum Tree House. Bar service until midnight. Mini-bar (water, juices and soft drinks and beers, replenished once daily). Beach service and poolside service. 24-hour room service (tray charges apply). Wellness as per the hotel schedule: Yoga classes, access to the sauna, steam room, pool and spa garden (reservation mandatory subject to availability at the spa, adults only). Water sports as per hotel schedule: water-skiing, glass-bottom boat trips, snorkelling, windsurfing, kayaks, pedal boats, hobbycraft, mini-sailing, as per weather and tide conditions. Live music and DJ evening. 

Please note: All Inclusive is available from the time of arrival at the hotel to the time of departure. The hotel reserves the right to close up to two restaurants throughout the year. 

LUX* It Up option: (available from 6 Jan '19) can be added to any board basis and includes a full-day excursion to Ile des Deux Cocos, a choice of two ‘Must Do’ experiences, 6 wellness treatments, a gourmet experience and a bottle of Champagne on arrival. Please call for full details. 

LUX* Me Spa option: (available from 6 Jan '19) can be added to any board basis and is an integrated approach to wellbeing, incorporating holistic and spa treatments. Please call for full details.

Half Board option: Includes buffet breakfast at Palm Court, and either buffet dinner at Palm Court or à la carte dinner at Beach Rouge, Creole Smokehouse or Bodrum Blue restaurants. 

Full Board option: Includes buffet breakfast at Palm Court, lunch in a choice of à la carte restaurants, and either buffet dinner at Palm Court or à la carte dinner at Beach Rouge, Creole Smokehouse or Bodrum Blue restaurants. 

Junior Suites are located on the ground floor with direct access to the beach, spacious bathroom with double basins, walk-in shower, separate toilet and dressing room, and 1 king-size bed, sleeping maximum 2 adults and 1 child/teen.

Romantic Junior Suites (known as Ocean Junior Suites from 6 Jan '19) are located on the second floor, have a spacious balcony with an outdoor bathtub for two, and a king-size bed sleeping maximum 2 adults and 1 child/teen. 

Family Suites have a king size bed and double sofa beds, two bathrooms and a walk-in dressing room, sleeping maximum 4 adults or 3 adults, 2 children/1 teen or 2 adults and 3 children/2 teens.

The LUX* Suite (available for stays from 6 Jan '19) has a generous lounge area, walk-in dressing room, a sleek oversized bathroom with deep-soaking bath and walk-in shower, sleeping maximum 3 adults or 2 adults and 1 child/teen. 

6 dining options: The Palm Court (live cooking stations, open for breakfast and dinner), INTI (Peruvian and Argentinian cuisine, open grill kitchen), Beach Rouge (casual beachfront dining), Bodrum Blue (authentic Turkish restaurant), and Under the Banyan which is home to the Creole Smokehouse (adults-only) and BBs Burger Shack (adults-only section). 7 bars: INTI Pisco Bar, G&T 100 Club, Rum Tree House, French Kiss, The Palm Court and the beachfront bars at Beach Rouge and Bodrum Blue. 2 swimming pools (one adults-only). Had an amazing week end in Lux Grand Gaube .Splendid view of the turquoise lagoon from our room .Food excellent and good service from the dedicated staff .Cleanliness at the top.Few months before I had the same experience in Lux Belle Mare . The Lux Group is really giving 5 stars service.

We loved our room and we had a beautiful beach view. The room was always clean and the guy from housekeeping (we forgot his name), was just amazing! Even though he doesn't speak french or English that well, he would still try and it was heartwarming. He would leave some amazing towel art on our bed everday and always had that smile on his face. The fact that they have so many restaurants made our stay even better. My husband and i love variety. What really stayed with us after our stay there was the service. The staff would always go out of their way to make you feel special. They make you feel like royalty. THAT is the difference between a 5 star and a 4 star. It's no surprise that we will definitely travel all the way from Canada to just experience this again. Thank you! Read less

Throughout Mauritius The Lux brand provides iconic luxury resorts, however The Lux Grand Gaube is undoubtedly the Jewel in the Group’s crown. The service is incredible, the food delicious, the beach exceptional and the rooms modern and luxurious. Nothing it too much for their staff and the little touches at every contact point are what sets this hotel apart from the rest, we’ve stayed at hotels all around the Island and this was undoubtedly our favorite. Beautiful renovations made since our last stay, so elegant, such a lovely room, with a fantastic view (spent some happy hours on the balcony overlooking everything) Food was great, bed so comfortable, bathroom a dream, what more can I say. The hotel is beautiful with 2 swimming pools-one adult only at Banyan Beach. I have to say the food at the Palm Court is most amazing (esp the salad corner) with an exceptional team - Shameen, Natalia and more. Nadege on the breakfast team made the most wonderful spicy eggs and knew exactly what we wanted. The chef Jean Marie catered for our toddler and the staff carried him around while we were eating.Their internal made ice cream at the Ice van by Gillian is spectacular, we couldn't resist going back for more. I have to do a special mention to the kids club with Rebecca, Beatrice, Elisa, Serge, Anderson who entertained us with tshirt printing, pirate parties etc (even though starts at 3yrs). We had photography lessons with Raj (amazing pointers) and golf lessons. I even had a towel origami lesson at the Junk Yard Gallery with a beautiful origami left in our room. We were amazed by the attention to detail with the complimentary Mauritian Rum left in our room! We loved our lunch at the Banyan Restaurant with special service from Thannan. Big Thank you to Brice the general manager and his team (incl Annabelle and Sandeep) for welcoming us and taking the time to cater for our individual needs. They have a strong focus on guest service and satisfaction. Not to mention they made the most amazing coffee-thank you for our amazing barrista Karuna! We would definitely come back. Read less
