The hotel

With a stunning sunset location, flanked by UNESCO World Heritage Site Le Morne Peak, this LUX* resort also overlooks an endless stretch of golden beach. Sheltered from trade winds and on the quiet side of the island, it’s an ideal place to catch up on some R&R. Landscaped gardens surround you, dotted with five swimming pools — select your favourite and pull up a lounger. Romantic in feel, the hotel is also ideal for families, with a superb kids' club offering activities such as treasure hunts, art classes and tennis lessons. Water sports abound, try your hand at snorkelling, water-skiing or kite-surfing perhaps. If you prefer dry land, no worries — team up with friends for a game of volleyball or hire a bike to explore the lush interior. Come sundown, the pace picks up slightly. Head to The Bar for cocktails and live music, or while away the hours in East, feasting on delicious Thai cuisine. Set right beside the ocean, The Beach is also highly recommended, serving up Italian fare in a relaxed setting.

Where is it

At the foot of the Le Morne Mountain in the southwest corner of Mauritius. Transfer time from Mauritius International Airport: 1 hour 15 minutes.

149 rooms and suites, all with air-conditioning, balcony or terrace, flatscreen TV, telephone, complimentary WiFi internet access, mini-bar*, tea/coffee-making facilities, safe, hairdryer, iron and board. Superior Rooms with 1 king-size bed, sleeping maximum 3 adults or 2 adults and 1 child/teen (under 17 years).

All Inclusive option: includes breakfast at The Kitchen and lunch in any of the restaurants and for guests on excursions a picnic basket can be provided (request at reception 24 hours in advance). A la carte and buffet dinner in any of the restaurants, excluding East. Afternoon tea at The Bar. A selection of local drinks, including soft drinks, tea, coffee, beers, wines, juices, mineral water, cocktails and spirits. Bar service until 12.00am. Mini-bar including water, juices & soft drinks, local beers (replenished once a day). Complimentary Café LUX* and homemade ice creams at ICI counterYoga & stretching classes, access to sauna, steam room, whirlpool and spa garden (subject to availability, adults only). Water-skiing, glass-bottom boat trips, snorkelling, windsurfing, kayaks, pedal boat, small catamaran, mini-sailing, as per weather and tide conditions. Romantic Junior Suites (known as Sunset Junior Suite from 6 Jan '19) with hot tub, balcony and 1 king-size bed, sleeping maximum 2 adults.

Prestige Junior Suites are on the beachfront and have an outdoor shower, with 1 king-size bed, sleeping maximum 2 adults, plus 1 infant.

Ocean Junior Suites are perched on the water’s edge, overlooking the lagoon, with 1 king-size bed, sleeping maximum 2 adults and 1 child/teen (under 17 years).

We had the chance to go back to this hotel for a few days and we can only say that this is a magic place. The spot is still amazing. When you arrive close to Le Morne mountain you can already feel the calm and the power of the nature. Even if the hotel is almost full you don’t feel it and all the team makes you feel special. After we arrived Justine welcomed us like we were home again. After the check-in we were happy to see known people like Seeya, Stanislas, Lionel, Vincent or Kerby. All the great things were still in place but we also noticed that take customers observations into account since they added new activities like Creole lessons etc that had been suggested before! The room was wonderful like always and the small kindness are always appreciated. Room service is still very efficient and professional. We especially thank Pauline and Nisha! Breakfast was also delicious with a lot of choices and fresh products. Maybe the bread can be a little bit better as you have some great baker in your group ;) We would also like to thank the staff who is really the strength of this hotel. - Stephanie for all her attention during our stay (breakfast on the beach, sea urchin tasting and her happiness. - Seeya for her help and her kindness during all our stay. She is someone you can rely on. - Justine and Stanislas for their kind welcome and availability. - the “team SPA” especially Rachel and Kooshbou for the orange blossom and Sarah for her massage. - Ruth and Kerby for their wise advice and the entertainment team especially Damien, Rachelle. The activities are also great. If you want to discover better the Mauritius culture we recommend you to try the cooking class. If you are lucky Beesham will teach you how do to the famous Faratas (with a heart of palm salad :)) Don’t miss the famous “nautical boat team”! They will give you good advice if you want to try windsurfing or paddle! If you planned to go to Rodrigues, ask Lionel! He will give you the desire to go there ;) If you have some stiffness (or not :p) you must do the Yoga lessons with Vincent the amazing teacher. So sad there isn’t a daily yoga class ! At last we do not forget Xavier, Satish and Hurvund for their help and their availability every day. We initially planned to spend 3 nights at Lux Le Morne before heading to the north to Lux Grand Gaube but as the first days were beyond beautiful we asked for an extension to 4 nights. In brief: Rooms: Our superior room furnished in colonial style in the first floor of a bungalow was very beautiful & spacious, top housekeeping & very silent. Curtains to keep out the light & bathroom with separate toilet (proper closing door), walk in shower & walk in closet. Food: nothing was missing at all, very nice service & questions to be answered at any time (ingredients). There are three restaurants: The kitchen (included in halfboard), The beach (included except of menus last page & lobster evening), East (not included in halbboard but with 800 MS credit pP). Hotel premises: everything provided you could ask for. Perfect beach w/ sand like powdered sugar, crystal clear water, watersports (SUP, waterski...) on complementary basis, fruit infusioned water at several spots, little things like small pizza sliced to be served at the spot or service to clean sunnies... If you want you find shadow at many spots (loads of palm trees) the view is stunning from almost everywhere. We swam with dolphins, boat started very early directly at the beach. We would like to recommend doing the tour with Skipper Dan (see contact details in one photo, you can find him on Instagram too.) He has 25 years experience, knows Mauritius better than the back of his hand and offers fishing adventures too. We got beautiful GoPro material which was included in our private tour. We will keep this wonderful travel to Lux Le Morne in our minds forever. Almost everyone was very kind but we would like to adress our special thanks to: Nayaaz and the whole pool/beach team who made our stay so very special. In fact their kindness was one reason for us to extend our stay. Nayaaz really made us feel like we were on our honeymoon even though we weren’t. Team seemed extremely well coordinated and we enjoyed a pleasant atmosphere at all times. Furthermore we would like to thank Faadhil who supported us at & Priyanka who arranged literally everything with Lux Grande Gaube. Thank you to Selvina for always giving us the feeling she is loving to assist with any request & really conveyed that she loves her job. Thanks a lot for the very warm hearted good bye! This hotel is obviously managed very good. We hope to get back to paradise very soon! Read less
