LUX* Le Morne

Mauritius, Indian Ocean

The hotel

With a stunning sunset location, flanked by UNESCO World Heritage Site Le Morne Peak, this LUX* resort also overlooks an endless stretch of golden beach. Sheltered from trade winds and on the quiet side of the island, it’s an ideal place to catch up on some R&R. Landscaped gardens surround you, dotted with five swimming pools — select your favourite and pull up a lounger. Romantic in feel, the hotel is also ideal for families, with a superb kids' club offering activities such as treasure hunts, art classes and tennis lessons. Water sports abound, try your hand at snorkelling, water-skiing or kite-surfing perhaps. If you prefer dry land, no worries — team up with friends for a game of volleyball or hire a bike to explore the lush interior. Come sundown, the pace picks up slightly. Head to The Bar for cocktails and live music, or while away the hours in East, feasting on delicious Thai cuisine. Set right beside the ocean, The Beach is also highly recommended, serving up Italian fare in a relaxed setting.

Me and my husband were lucky and honored to get married in Mauritius at Lux Le Morne. We also spent our honeymoon there. And we couldn’t have picked a better place to make our dream come true. Just as the name suggests, hotel is utterly luxorious, but the biggest treasure here is the staff. The whole crew radiates with a smile, always ready to help. We’d like to thank everyone for your energy and hospitality, but especially Melisa and Ashley! I couldn’t have dreamt about having a better hairdresser. Melisa’s friendly attitude helped me relax during the preparations for my wedding. Thank You once again Dear! I hope one day you’ll open your own hairdressing salon. As for the food, it was always glorious. We never thought that something as common as pasta would suprise us the most and Ashley is the reason why this happened. Other honorable mention would be The East Restaurant. Crispy duck and red curry took our hearts. The hotel offers many facilities. You can rent water sport equipment free of charge, play a game of tennis and then go diving. After that you can relax at the Lux me spa center or just go to the beach and jump into the ocean. We highly recommend snorkling in the ocean in order to see underwater world. It’s just amazing to see coral reef and such huge variety of fish. Yours, Adrianna and Marcin. PS We hope to see You soon!!! Read less

I arrived with my boyfriend and left with a fiance - so that was the best holiday of my life! But on a serious note, the location is to die for if you're looking for the most picturesque beach. We snorkeled every day, never had any trouble finding a couple of loungers and an umbrella. The sun rises from the land and sets directly in front of you as you're lying on the beach looking into the sea - the pictures we took are incredible. The most beautiful sunsets of my life! We did a hike up Le Morne Brabant, booked with reception. And we did swimming with dolphins, also booked through the hotel. Both thoroughly recommended, the views from the mountain are breathtaking, but the hike is challenging around the top (make sure you have good trainers). Swimming with dolphins was incredibly fun and the best one I've had in my life. There were plenty of them and not too many people. We got so close and again were able to take amazing pictures. Plus, on the way back to the beach, you get the most beautiful views of the island with LMB in the background. We didn't book the all inclusive option as we found it to be too expensive for what we were realistically going to eat/drink through each day. As ever, do your maths before committing to any packages. Not having a package meant we were free to eat at the East and Beach restaurants without missing out on what we had already paid for. Go for the lobster set menu at the Beach restaurant - it was delicious! (I believe it's every Tuesday). The vibe of the hotel is very cool, it's an upmarket place but we didn't find it to be over the top, intimidating kind of lux. The guests were mainly couples, some with little children, a handful of babies, but all the guests were very polite and respectful. There was never a crying baby in the restaurant. The service was good, all the facilities clean. I hear it is due a refurb and would say that it's probably time to give it a fresh lick of paint some places. But it absolutely didn't have an impact on how satisfied we were with our stay. We would definitely go back again! Bear in mind that this area of the island is a bit quiet. The hotel is next to some other 5* places but there is no town/main road with shops/restaurants, so you're pretty much committing yourself to whatever Lux has on offer (and there's enough to keep yourself entertained). Final point - weather - we kept checking the apple weather app before going and it kept threatening us with rain, sometimes thunder. We were terrified! And for nothing. The weather was beautiful. 28 degrees every day (9-18 May), sometimes a few clouds but towards the sunset (17:35-45) we still got glorious tans and had the most fabulous holiday of our lives. Thoroughly recommend. Read less

We were at this fantastic hotel for 6 days. The entertainment program, the beach, service and hospitality were incredible. A special thanks to STEPHANIE who served me my first sea urchin fresh from the sea.

having been in mauritius already for a week, we moved into the lux le morne resort for the last leg of our holiday. upon arrival, we were informed that the bad news was that the room we had booked was not available, but the good news that we wld be upgraded 😀 in the beginning we were a bit confused about the meal arrangements, but were pleasantly surprised and in fact very much impressed by how swiftly our queries were solved by hotel management! room we had -- as said: upgraded -- was well appointed. the beach postcard perfect, you will not get a better tropical beach anywhere else, colours at sunset sumptuous. also, as the beach is protected by a lagoon, the water is crystal clear -- as we noticed, much clearer than resorts in the same area that do not boast that barrier. amenities at the resort are good, food at restaurants a bit pricy but all in all good. activities (horse riding, private dolphin watching trip) pricy too but worth it: i guess we were lucky that day to find a large group of dolphins, but we in fact literally swam with dolphins, can you believe it? and the day after we went for a dip on horse back! two checks on bucket list. only draw back is that the resort is not at walking distance to the nearest restaurant, village. and the local taxi mafia asks extortionate ans disproportionate rates: 25 euro for a three minute drive back and forth, and 50 euro for a 1 1/2 hour drive to the airport. how does that add up!? lastly, most important asset of any hospitality outfit is the staff, and here the lux le morne is well endowed indeed, just to name a few: the very friendly and humorous Mervin of f&b hailing from "norf lundun" 😀, ballee (spelling?) the barman, Valerie of the ice cream parlor and of course Prena of f&b who personally saw to it that my husband got lactose free yogurt and was a dear throughout our stay. and last but not least Xavier, dept general manager. in sum: five days of paradise bliss at lux le morne, five stars! This is my first review of any hotel/place and will probably be my last. Not because it is a negative one but because in my laziness I have to actually applaud this place for going above and beyond. And I will drift back into laziness after this :) This is my second time to this property. From the moment you set foot there, you will froth at the mouth. My wife Tiff and my daughter Ruby are so obsessed with this joint that I wish to come back every few weeks. Alas, I don't have the coin to do this. Anyways, in short...food is epic. Especially the breaky. Beach is gorgeous, like postcard gorgeous. Rooms are roomy, comfy, clean and the bathroom is nearly bigger than my apartment. All the staff are lovely and not in a faux way either. Authentic people with big smiles. Especially with my daughter who is 2. They always had banter with her. Special mention to Stephanie, Cindy, Joshna who were always on hand to smile and help with dietary requirements. Those women deserve some medals. They were lovely. Ashley who rocks a killer carbonara pasta with a gentle demeanour and finally Dylan the beach boy who is professional to say the least. Love you Lux...I hope to be back. If not in this life, I'll return when I die for it is surely heaven Out Read less
