Fantastic location on the beach. The staff were great, as was the reception staff on our arrival. We had a Junior suite looking straight out over the ocean. It was absolutely wonderful. This is mainly a positive review, however the small negatives do greatly affect the overall experience which is a shame. My partner and I stayed for 10 nights in Nov24, all inclusive. Pros The location of the hotel is peaceful, beautiful and the waters are crystal clear; just stunning. Pool is nice and clean. There were always beds at the beach and with shaded areas which is good! The rooms are always clean, and they refresh the mini bar, water and towels daily. Shower was nice and powerful, which is great. The staff who clean the rooms are lovely, super friendly and can’t do enough for you; wish that was the same across the board! The bar staff were generally great. Big shout out to Itish and Girish who never seemed to stop, they were the best duo. The food was overall very nice, I love curry and spice so I enjoyed that there was some aspect of varied flavours at most meals. The wood fired pizza oven was a nice touch and everyone seemed to like that a lot. The theme nights were good, although a bit ‘samey’ after a while. They attempted to provide evening entertainment, we saw some belly dancers, a pianist, singer and all of good standards. Cons The noise from the air con is so loud, it sounds like a gale force wind, after a while it becomes white noise but it was frustrating nonetheless. The constant signing of the tab/cheque for AI is rather annoying, surely there must be a better way to track this, it feels very old fashioned. We checked out at 11am and were not leaving the resort until 7:30pm, we were allowed to use the facilities under our AI until 3pm and then you had to pay. I found this a shame, not a good impression to make and most people are only going to have a couple more drinks and small amounts of food in that time. They should rethink this as it’s not the nicest way to end your holiday. The Mosaic restaurant is a beautifully located restaurant and the food is lovely but the service is beyond terrible. There is no order to it at all, some people got served quick upon arrival, way before others who had been there a while. Most diners were kept waiting for such a long time when we ate there, and we waited over an hour for dessert with no apology, explanation or reason for the delay. Service in the main buffet restaurant is inconsistent to say the least, you mostly wait and wait and wait for someone to come and take a drinks order, and then someone else comes in and they get waited on immediately. It’s bizarre. Several times we got up and walked to the bar to get a drink as we were tired of waiting for someone to take our order. Most staff in the main restaurant are lovely, however there a few bad eggs that really bring the place down; very rude, don’t care and are snail pace slow! The decor is looking a little tired, I noticed that in several areas and it really stands out, they need to look after it better, even cleaning some of the communal seating in the bar area would be nice, it was looking grubby. . During our time there my partner fell through (yes literally, onto the floor!) a dining chair at evening dinner in front of the whole restaurant, we found it hilarious but I can imagine that others may not find it so funny especially if they are on the larger side, which my partner is not. He only weighs 80kg and is fit but still, chairs should not be collapsing underneath you during dinner. The general manager came to apologise and noted our room number but we never heard anything from them by the way of an official apology or gesture. The shower rooms that you can use when you’re arriving/leaving need major TLC, they are damp smelling, very fusty as they are in the basement of the building with no windows and the shower area is so small you can’t swing a cat. We used it when we arrived as our rooms were not ready and we both said we hope the rest of the hotel isn’t like this! The beach isn’t really a beach, it’s concrete and with some felt placed over it and then topped off with sand, I know this as the grey felt is starting to poke through in areas, it needs TLC. The free water sports equipment needs updating, the paddle boards are frayed, old and coming apart. They need to invest in new stuff. Overall I would visit Mauritius again but I think j I’d stay somewhere else on the island. Tips Get a sea view room, well worth it, stunning views. Hire a car to explore the island, it’s cheaper and more efficient as the island is small so you can really see Mauritius and all it has to offer. And they drive on the left with all UK signage so it’s really simple. If you want to hike up Le Morne start early (sunrise!) as the tracks get real busy and it is very hot. Read less
