The hotel is ideally located on Mauritius on its own little island with great beaches and facilities. Many of the hotel rooms look out onto the sea and we were fortunate to have two room on the ground floor so could walk straight from our room to the beach. The bedrooms are large with plenty of room and have all the facilities you could ask for with very comfy beds. The activities are great and you can paddleboard, kayak or use pedalos to get across to the nearby nature reserve island and see giant turtles from the sea. They offer free glass bottom boat rides and snorkelling every day in the protected by a natural reef bay area which was really great and we did this several times. The snorkelling was just as good from the hotel with the reef and lots of fish close to the beach. We took an all inclusive package but actually found that it did limit your choice of drinks and food as there many options on what was called a premium All inclusive PAI and that caught us out on the first night as we have a few drinks not on All Inclusive. You can upgrade if you want too but we decided to stick with our AI package. Great Gym area and the prices in the Spa are very reasonable but definitely book your time in the spa early as it does get busy! The beach area and swimming pools are excellent and the food is good alround. There were 4 of us in two rooms which included two teenage girls and we all agreed this was one of the best holidays we have had! The rooms on the beach were just amazing and it was great to sit on the terrace in the evening having a drink. The island is amazing and we felt only our Cuba trips were equal to the experience here. Taking a hire car and seeing the island is amazing and 2 days would allow you to see historic sites and areas across the island. Our view was the area we stayed in was the best overall despite everyone mentioning the north of the island was best we felt that was very tourist focussed and busy. In July their winter season we were told it’s not busy but our hotel was pretty full most nights yet it still seemed quiet due to the layout which was great. The hotel arranges private taxis that can take you to the most visited island attractions like temples, black river valley, waterfalls and much more in a day. It was 4400 M rupees which is around £40 and worth doing to see the main areas in your own times but we wanted to see the whole island so took private car hire for 2 days which was enough to do the coastal road around the island and well worth it too. We used GTS car hire and they were both excellent dropping off and picking up the car from the hotel and the car they provided was in great condition and it was about half the cost of TUI prices. Be prepared as most places don’t accept credit cards and only cash. Overall this hotel and their amazing staff was incredible and made our first holiday to Mauritius a memorable one! A special thanks to Cindy our room maid who was friendly, kept the rooms amazingly clean and answered all the questions we could throw at her! Read less

This was our second visit to this hotel. Our first visit was absolutely amazing - which is why we booked again. This time the hotel experience was a complete nightmare - it took over an hour to be checked-in. The staff asked us multiple times to review our experience - so here it is… We booked a sea-view family room online and spoke to the reservations person to confirm sea-view before checking in. We were allocated a room with NO sea-view - it faced the back service area of the very noisy dive centre (only a wedge of sea view from the side). Our view was of dirty mops, brooms and cleaning equipment stacked against a wall. The rooms need upgrading and proper cleaning! In our first room - the bathroom wall had blood splatters above the shaving socket. The previous occupants long hair was mopped onto the skirtings. The hallway walls had damp, mould and wear damage. We requested a new room immediately but apparently there was no availability. We did walk past many un-occupied rooms that day. The following afternoon (late) they moved us to a room positioned behind the busy volleyball court - with a partial sea view in the distance. This room was also very worn out - the cabinet door to the fridge was held together with rusty nails, the configuration of the main bedroom made it extremely difficult to open the bar fridge (about 45mm between the edge of the bed and the fridge cabinet) or walk past your partner - don't be fooled by the photographs of the rooms on the website - they are small. We tried moving the cabinet back a bit - it was filthy underneath. This was cleaned quickly after we called for service (via Linda the duty manager). The mattresses are cheap and felt like cardboard. The comforters (no duvets) are thin and synthetic feeling. The air-conditioned did not work in the main bedroom - we asked multiple times (over 3 days) for it to be repaired... they tried to fix it multiple times - it would work for a few minutes and then stopped. The plumbing in adjacent rooms rattled and made a loud noise every morning when our neighbours used the bathroom. The outdoor loungers were covered in mildew and mould and never clean of bird and vegetation debris during our stay. The beach are is not cleaned or groomed everyday. The food was repetitive and overly salty. Not many fresh fish dishes which was surprising - the first two hotels we stayed at on this trip had an abundance of fresh delicious fish and sea food sourced locally. Preskil has a food wastage protocol in place but they seem to have gone overboard and compromised on what they now offer. Most dishes appear to be recycled - an over-grilled fish dish on first night became a fish salad the next night. The serving-ware was filthy and grimy - I did show and send photographs to the duty manager Linda, she agreed and apologised that it was not acceptable. There was no improvement the next day. Service in the main dining area and the restaurants is very slow and lack-lustre. You'll need to replenish your own cutlery from the service station, clear your own dishes away between courses - asking a waiter is a waste of time. We started collecting our own drinks from the bar counter after waiting over 20 minutes for service staff to collect. We celebrated two birthdays (on two different days) their beds were sweetly decorated by the room steward and a chocolate cake with sparklers was brought to the tables after dinner - that was a lovely gesture. The boat house staff are wonderful and we enjoyed the snorkelling trips on the glass bottom boat - if it wasn't for them we would have left after the first 2 days. I was in communication with Linda (duty manager) throughout our stay but she was unable to resolve all issues. Sadly this will be our last visit to this once very wonderful hotel and property.
