To start my review off with, we've been told by friends, over the years, not to go to any hotel/resort on the East side of the island. (we should've listened). Well now I can understand why we were warned, because we were literally in pouring rain, strong winds and cold weather, for the 3 days that we were booked in for. We were there at the tail end of the typhoon season - but inspire of that we still found the hotel not catering for times like this. One is literally trapped in one's hotel room with stormy weather like what we've experienced. There is literally no place to go to besides your room. The entrance / reception area has no doors so the wind was howling and raining when we booked in. VERY unpleasant. And there is no place to go sit down and find shelter from the wind and rain. The tea / coffee experience that was served in the afternoon at 4 on the second floor was as unpleasant a moment as can be imagined. It is served next to the lounge that is a very small bungalow with two couches and a billiard table, so no ways could all the guests fit in to get cover from the wind and rain. It just didn't make the tea time experience a pleasant one, especially in unpleasant weather situations. The dining experience was a pleasant one, albeit that the service was a bit slow. The staff couldn't really speak English, so it took a while to explain what we wanted. The hotel setting and pool area is beautiful. And if you're lucky enough to get good weather, I'm sure one could enjoy that. As for value for the money we spent, it was disappointing. Will we go back? No I don't think so. Read less

Have to agree with others that the rooms are a little on the small side and could go with a bit of an upgrade but sufficient for our needs. The staff really make this hotel, can’t do enough for you to make your stay perfect, from Reception staff, waiters, waitresses, bar staff and the cleaners, they all work so hard. The only downside was that we couldn’t sit outside in the evening because it was a little bit chilly and there was no shelter from the wind, would make such a difference if this was possible. All in all, lovely holiday and round return. Read less

5 star experience from start to finish. We stayed 6 nights and came from spending 6 nights in Kenya so we wanted to relax and be spoilt and that’s exactly what we got. Our room was perfect with a perfect view (room 3106) Didn’t use the coffee machine which was not in the AI package so don’t know how much that cost. Used the dry cleaning service which was reasonably priced and very efficient. They topped up the mini bar and cleaned to room every day. The restaurant was just lovely and food was very tasty we didn’t feel the need to use the a le cart one. Food and drink available all day. Lovely hotel with lovely grounds. All staff were friendly and helpful they even arranged a day trip for us. The beach is on the door step and so peaceful. It was windy whilst we were there and their evening entertainment was out doors which was a shame as too cold to sit and watch. They should maybe use another area when the weather isn’t too good. Otherwise no faults with the hotel and staff at all. Highly recommend. Read less

My stay at the Radisson Blu Poste Lafayette was marked by the warm and welcoming nature of the Mauritian people. The staff at the hotel truly made the experience memorable. Their friendliness, constant smiles, and genuine interest in engaging with guests were highlights of the trip. For anyone interested in learning more about Mauritius and its culture, the hotel staff are invaluable resources, always ready to share insider tips on restaurants, activities, and local secrets. However, despite these positive experiences, there were some aspects of the stay that could be improved. Having visited in August, I was aware that the eastern part of Mauritius tends to be windier, and that the unpredictable weather might limit beach and water activities. Still, the overall conditions of the accommodations left room for improvement. Our room, while functional, felt rather small and lacked essential amenities, such as sufficient storage space. The absence of a proper wardrobe made it challenging to stay organized during our visit. The bathroom facilities were acceptable. The water pressure was low, leading to an inconsistent water temperature, which was frustrating. Furthermore, the lounge area, which should be a place of comfort, often felt like a wind tunnel due to its exposure to the elements. Another disappointment was that one of the restaurants was out of service for several days due to a damaged roof. This was particularly frustrating as the food in that restaurant was excellent. In contrast, the offerings in the main restaurant were rather limited, and we often found ourselves craving more variety. Moreover, despite having booked an all-inclusive package, we were surprised to find that some dishes on the à la carte menu incurred additional charges. This felt misleading and detracted from the overall dining experience. Perhaps the most concerning issue, however, was the situation regarding the hotel staff. The hotel employees, who work tirelessly to make guests feel welcome and comfortable, appeared to be struggling with the windy weather and cold conditions in the evenings. Many of the staff members were visibly cold, shivering, coughing, and sniffling. It was disheartening to see that they were not provided with appropriate long-sleeved uniforms to protect them from the chilly evening temperatures. In fact, I observed that some staff members resorted to wearing their personal clothing over their uniforms to stay warm. This lack of proper attire is not only uncomfortable for them but also poses a risk to their health. Several waitstaff and receptionists fell ill during our stay, which was concerning both from a guest’s perspective—given the potential risk of illness transmission—but also as a matter of fairness and respect towards the hardworking staff. While our stay had its ups and downs, I sincerely hope that the management at Radisson Blu Poste Lafayette takes these points into consideration. With a few adjustments—particularly in terms of facilities and staff welfare—this hotel has the potential to be truly outstanding. I cannot emphasize enough how much the incredible staff contributes to the overall experience, and ensuring their comfort and well-being would undoubtedly enhance the quality of service and guest satisfaction. We stayed in July, visited with TUI via Mauritius air on all inclusive basis. Warm welcome on arrival staff welcoming and couldn't do enough for you. Room with sea view, excellent. Drinks and bar staff excellent , food overall excellent. Entertainment staff friendly . Hired a car for two days from hotel, and saw whole island. Also went on free transfer to sister hotel, but we preferred where we were. On last day whilst snorkeling, swam alongside a hawksbill sea turtle and also saw humpback Whales jumping out the water just off the reef. The all inclusive package was generous and could not fault it. Thank you . Read less
