The hotel

Waiting for your drinks to arrive as you laze on white sands, shaded by a coconut palm. Taking a dip in a lagoon pool among tropical plants and dining and drinking terraces. Stepping out on your balcony to soak in endless sea views before heading out for dinner. This may be the stuff of daydreams, but it’s the true island experience guests come to enjoy when staying at the adults-only Solana Beach. It does deliver a delicious cliché, but this hotel also comes with its own unique twists, like the nod to the sixties and seventies in your spacious guestroom, which is otherwise thoroughly modern. It also gives you the option to do absolutely nothing – or to pack your days with cycling, diving, snorkelling, and even complimentary glass-bottom boat trips, and your nights with island entertainment and meals in three delectable restaurants.

The room and the resort facilities were most comfortable and great value for money. We enjoyed the breakfast and buffet dinners we had on the two nights. We also took advantage of the onsite activities coordinated by staff and really enjoyed. Would stay here again and recommend to anyone looking where to stay (east coast) of Mauritius. Read less

We went for a special occasion and it just wasn’t what we expected of a 4 star all inclusive hotel. The hotel is very tired and the location is just too remote for what we like. Assistant manger said contracts issued before covid but work has still not been done. So hotel was tired what 4 years ago ? Arrived and staff were friendly and the hotel grounds are really well kept. Our room was not ready till 2.00pm and we were told about what wasn’t included as part of the all inclusive package, so anything with an asterisk on the drink and food menu is included anything else you have to pay extra for, so about half ! How is that all inclusive that we paid TUI extra for. So what didn’t we like No wrist band for all inclusive so you have to sign a chitty for every drink, food water. Just gets annoying really fast. People are constantly asking for your room number for no reason. If they have nothing to say or ask they want your room number? Pool is small and the plastic edging to water is falling apart Decking around pool and into bar is falling apart as rotten, this is so dangerous. Somebody will get hurt. Food in main restaurant was very repetitive and always cold, the staff are constantly trying to upsell BBQ or Fish nights at additional cost. The BBQ we paid for and was rubbish, we waited an hour for the main course. The kebabs were on a cocktail stick and burnt to a black crisp. Room was very tired, furniture broken and room dirty, we were upgraded to a junior suite which was better but still tired Internet is rubbish and keeps disappearing requiring you to log in over and over. TV was like watching snow, we had some bad weather days and we’re trying to fill time Hotel does not spray for mosquitoes so we were eaten alive, beachcomber hotels in Mauritius do spray etc Not the hotels fault but there is a rock ledge along the beach inside the water edge, is very slippy and we saw several people slip over. In Sharm Egypt they have wooden bridges into the sea to get over this problem. We did a North and South trip whilst there. There are a lot nicer places and much better hotels than this one. Mauritius is a beautiful island, so green with dramatic landscape so don’t be put off going. This is my own honest opinion and sorry if it offends or others disagree you can only say what you think. This is a two star resort at best and I have no idea why TUI list it asap a 4 star result. TUI rep was non existent when Dubai airport flooded and we asked for updates. He ignored our messages and phone calls. Not a great holiday this one ! Read less
