Solana Beach Mauritius

Mauritius, Indian Ocean

The hotel

Waiting for your drinks to arrive as you laze on white sands, shaded by a coconut palm. Taking a dip in a lagoon pool among tropical plants and dining and drinking terraces. Stepping out on your balcony to soak in endless sea views before heading out for dinner. This may be the stuff of daydreams, but it’s the true island experience guests come to enjoy when staying at the adults-only Solana Beach. It does deliver a delicious cliché, but this hotel also comes with its own unique twists, like the nod to the sixties and seventies in your spacious guestroom, which is otherwise thoroughly modern. It also gives you the option to do absolutely nothing – or to pack your days with cycling, diving, snorkelling, and even complimentary glass-bottom boat trips, and your nights with island entertainment and meals in three delectable restaurants.

There is a stunning beach in front of the hotel and sun beds. They offer also a good variety of water activities for free. The rooms are big and cleaned twice a day. Cons: the internet wasn’t great. Sometimes it worked good, sometimes it was slow. Overall, i would strongly recommend the property. I had a great stay! Read less

We had planned for our honeymoon in Mauritius for months. And after researching through lots of hotels we finally choose Solana Beach and believe me we weren't wrong a tol. We had stayed here for 7 days 6 nights and we enjoyed each and every single day of our stay. The hotels beach was bliss to watch and all the rooms were sea facing with the perfect view you can imagine. The room was beautiful, cozy and warm. We also had our room beautifully decorated at our arrival as it was our honeymoon. The room service and all the hotels staff were warm and welcoming, we didn't face any kind of rude behavior from anyone. The swimming pool, garden area, restaurants and buffet were absolutely perfect. They offered entertainment program every night from 8 to 11pm. Also they had free water activities like glass bottom ride, snorkeling, etc. And I did scuba diving here but it was chargeable activities, but trust me you should try it out. And food was perfect. Gege from the guest relations was a fab lady I ever met. Thanks for everything. Read less

I was slightly nervous about some of the poor reviews, so was keen to make my own comments to give my opinion on them. The resort was well maintained with the garden areas and walkways especailly well manicured. Staff were attentive, to the point of knowing what drinks you wanted before you even asked - nice touch. We upgraded to the all inclusive when we arrived - which was negotiable to a degree! However, the all inclusive just means you get access to a decent range of drink options from the drinks menu, but not all drinks! It was worth it for us as we could drink coke, coffee, (selected) cocktails and the house wine. A lot of the inclusive alcolhol cocktails were dominated by fruit juice and we found we had to hold back as the fruit juice started to get to the digestive system (if you know what I mean!!). I agree with other reviews that I've seen a lot better quality cocktails, but they're certainly not bad in any form. We found the resort to be very quiet at times, which suited us to a T and to the extent we wondered where everyone was, so free reign access to the sunloungers at both the pool and the beach areas. There's a bit of the beach area, at the restaurant end, which is very picturesque with golden sand, warm water and fish only 10 metres from the water's edge. To answer some of the low reviews, all I can say is that these people are entitled to their opinions, but they must be generally very very fussy in life. Birds in the restaurant - of course there is, as its an semi open environment, so what do you want, a clinically sealed restaurant room?! The rooms were spacious, well equipped, clean, well maintained - and I have seen better overall standards, but not low enough to complain about them. Entertainment - I love my Table Tennis and Chris the entertainment manager was also a lover of it, so we have some excellent games over my stay (I won't say who won!). However, as I said before, the resort was very quiet at times which meant there wasn't the numbers of players to play any of the scheduled activities - nothing the resort can do about this, but if you're there to play the likes of tennis, boules, football etc, then there's not enough volunteers to make up the numbers. Overall a good decent holiday, not deserving any of the low reviews that have been sometimes posted. I'm sure there's better, but not to the extent of looking elsewhere. Read less
