The hotel

Waiting for your drinks to arrive as you laze on white sands, shaded by a coconut palm. Taking a dip in a lagoon pool among tropical plants and dining and drinking terraces. Stepping out on your balcony to soak in endless sea views before heading out for dinner. This may be the stuff of daydreams, but it’s the true island experience guests come to enjoy when staying at the adults-only Solana Beach. It does deliver a delicious cliché, but this hotel also comes with its own unique twists, like the nod to the sixties and seventies in your spacious guestroom, which is otherwise thoroughly modern. It also gives you the option to do absolutely nothing – or to pack your days with cycling, diving, snorkelling, and even complimentary glass-bottom boat trips, and your nights with island entertainment and meals in three delectable restaurants.

Solana Beach Hotel is a beautiful property with staff that go above and beyond to give you a comfortable and enjoyable stay. To start with the rooms are modern, clean and vibrant with the most incredible ocean views. Plenty of sun loungers on the beach, at the back of the hotel looking on to the ocean and around the pool. There is also the option to book water sports in advance, free of charge. We opted for all inclusive and felt there was a good range of food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Each night was 'themed' differently with the likes of Italian, Chinese, Indian and traditional Mauritian food. There was something for everyone. You also have the option to dine in the Pomelo a la carte fine dining restaurant but you do need to make a reservation. We could eat here twice during out stay, we only ate here the once but wished we had booked the second night - the food was wonderful! Also a good variety of drinks on the all inclusive menu. From the receptionist, the restaurant & bar staff and in particular the house keepers - the team could not be more attentive. I would highly recommend a stay st Solana Beach Hotel. Read less

I highly recommended this hotel. This hotel is like paradise with sea view, good food, clean room and very good customer. My husband and I have celebrated our wedding anniversary and my husband'sanniversary in this hotel and we could not have chosen a better place to celebrate this. A huge thank you to Mr Christophe Curpen (Leisure and Sports Manager) for his usual outstanding customer service which surely contributed in making our stay a memorable one and above our expectations. A special thanks also to Mr Domique, Jimmy,Christophe , Rakesh from the Restaurant and Bar team who have been providing a very good customer service during our stay. Being Mauritian, sometimes we tends to feel apart in some Mauritian hotels whereby more attention and better service are provided to tourists. However the solana team has been providing us the same very good customer service despite we are Mauritian. Read less

Booked 14 nights through TUI - no hassle from A to Z, everything was prerfectly organized. Me and my wife stayed in Premium room - spacious and clean, everything worked well. My advice: if you can, splash some extra cash and get this room - you woun't regret it. And apply for Half Board. Grounds: very well kept, beautiful tropical garden. Size of hotel complex: not too big, not too small - perfect. Safe place, security 24 hrs. Plenty of free of charge amenities: table tennis, canoes, water peddals, glass bottom boat, etc. Beach - good sandy strip, cleaned every day early morning. Plenty of chairs and umrellas around for all. Beautiful coral reef. Personnel: friendly staff. Chris and Milena from entertainment team did their best to make everyone happy. Some evening shows were good, some not so good but overall people enjoyed it. SPA: simply great. Fair prices, plenty offers. Vima and Usha - excellent professionals. We did full body massage, hot stones and few more; my wife also had manicure and pedicure - absolutely happy, thank you very much! Food: different theme every night, different tastes, plenty to choose from. Good variety, we were fine with what was offered. We rented a car for 10 days from Pingouin Car Rental. Normal European price, pick-up and return straight from the hotel. Happy with the service. Lots to see and do in Mauritius, plenty to explore every day. YES, minor things which could be improved: no station to change beach towels which is confusing, would like to see more fruits and veggies in the restaurant, too pushy to sell water in the restaurant eveningtime. Well, just ignore this. Say NO for water and go with a glass of wine instead, deal with your roommate for beach towels, etc. These minor things are everywhere and did not spoil our holiday. Overall: compared to other AI hotels we have been in Cabo Verde, Bulgaria, Turkey, Canary Islands, etc - this one stays stays well among the best. Would we come back - YES, thank you all for the great vacation and excellent memories we had! Read less
