The hotel

Built in the style of an historic sugar plantation, Sugar Beach is a world-class resort set in 30 acres of tropical gardens.  If you're not satisfied with just the facilities the hotel has to offer (although we know you will be!), this hotel also has preferred access to Ile aux Cerfs with it's tranquil beach, wide offering of water sports, additional dining options and an 18-hole golf course for the sports enthusiasts. The hotel itself creates a romantic setting with it's idyllic beaches and gourmet dining, but if you do have the kids in tow, the Sun Kids Club has daily itineraries to ensure they have their own adventure; giving you time to relax at the chic Buddha Beach Bar with a cocktail in hand.

Felt as though our service was quite poor. Not very friendly. Didn’t feel looked after - compared to the great vibes at the buffet dinner service. But at least we had dessert - it was a masterpiece.

We have just returned from a 10 day stay at Sugar Beach and can honestly say we had a wonderful time. The hotel setting is perfect on the beach the gardens and accommodation blocks are all kept in wonderful order. The staff couldn’t do enough for us and were always smiling. When we first arrived we had a problem with our room but Merwyn ( Duty Manager) sorted it for us in minutes to our complete satisfaction. Definitely 5* service! The room was lovely very modern, large and comfortable. The bed was particularly comfortable. We eat most of the time in the main Patio restaurant which was buffet for breakfast and evening meal and a la carte at lunchtime. The food was always very good but we were growing tired of the buffet by the end of the stay however I have to mention some of the waiting staff who were always smiling and couldn’t be more helpful or friendly. In the Patio restaurant I would like to thank Christine, Priya, Vikram and Kershav for making our stay so enjoyable. We enjoyed lunch and dinner at the Citronella restaurant on a number of days along with evening drinks at the bar chatting with David the barman and his trainee Kershav ,who also served drinks at the Buddha bar. We did eat at the Buddha bar one evening but the all inclusive menu was a bit limited so we didn’t bother again. If you are all inclusive you can not eat there at lunchtime unless you want to pay extra. I had my nails done during my stay and can recommend Ishta who did a very good job. The hotel is lovely and it became very clear that all the staff really enjoyed working there which reflects in the way they look after the guests. The only small negative we have is that the beach service ,at the Citronella end , was none existent in the whole of our stay we only saw someone twice. The hotel is lovely, we would certainly go back, and have no hesitation in recommending it to other travellers. Thank you Sugar Beach for a lovely holiday . Read less

Our 2nd visit at The Sugar Beach Resort Mauritius was even better than our first visit six years ago. We chose to go back as we had a fantastic experience the first time. The staff, facilities, accommodation and food were again beyond our expectation. We really enjoyed the seven days we spent there and it was with great sadness that we had to say good-bye. We highly recommend a stay there and we will definitely be back in the near future. We would like to say a big thank you to the wonderful people working there and specifically to: Nadine from reception, Pamela, Loretta, Isabelle and Satyam from the gym, Anand, Vaneka, Keshaw and Nisha from the restaurant, Jerry, West, Lovyn, Raphaella and Guillaume from activities and Anuradha from management. Nice hotel overall. Good customer service and food. One thing which was a bit confusing was that some staff were from different countries and you wouldn't be sure which language to use. Some staff were super friendly and helpful.

We visited sugar beach between 10th _25th November. If you're thinking of taking a holiday in mauritius, I would highly recommend sugar beach. The staff that greeted us after a tiring journey ,couldn't have been more welcoming. In fact all the staff at Sugar Beach were wonderful. Our room 724, was lovely ,and absolutely immaculate, couldn't have hoped for more. The food was lovely ,and always loads of different options. Buffet breakfast and dinner at the patio bar was excellent. Really lovely pool areas, beautifully kept, as are the grounds. Loved the beach. Well looked after by Faz with drinks etc. A walk up to the boat house for lunch, and a bit of banter with Jaween. Kayaks and paddleboards were great. One pointer, Do all inclusive at all costs. Anything you have to pay for is incredibly expensive. The only downside to the whole holiday was the shambles they call the airport. Get over that znd have the time of your life. Loved it Thank you Sugar Beach x Chris Isaac Read less
