Had their pina colada and another dodo drink. It was only for a day package, it wasn't as much welcoming - lucky it wasn't for a stay. Read less

My wife and I stayed at Tamassa Resort for 10 nights of luxury to celebrate our wedding in November2023 and were made to feel like VIPs. From the well-oiled early check-in on arrival after a 12 hour flight from the UK, all the way through to managing our stress levels when our flight home was cancelled, the staff at Tamassa were fantastic. We had big plans to explore the Island and trek in the National Park, but unfortunately the unexpected torrential rain prevented such adventures. But this meant that we spent more time than expected at the resort. The facilities are as to be expected in a beautiful coastal resort, but honestly it was the staff who made our holiday beyond perfect. The resort has two restaurants and we spent a large proportion of our time in the beach-front a la carte restaurant, Playa. Here we had the great fortune to meet Shirma, her brother Sharan, Avi, Manav, Savesh and Altaaf, who treated us with such care and attention that we truly felt like VIPs. We will always be grateful to these guys and will remember them fondly. They are all fantastic ambassadors for Tamassa Resort. We would wholeheartedly recommend Tamassa Resort and would encourage everyone to appreciate the warmth of the Mauritian people. Many thanks from Vic and Bryony xx Read less

Accommodation The room and bathroom accommodations is very tired and needs updating, there were cracked tiles in the bathroom and in the floor, the bath looked dirty but was just faded and old, where repairs had been done overtime in a poor manner is making it look unkept. I had issues with the toilet not flushing and air conditioning. Plug sockets didn’t work and those that did, when you pulled the plug out the whole wooden bedside panel would come away. Food and Drinks The most disappointing aspect is the food, there is only 2 restaurant's and the main buffet restaurant has curry every night, there was limited variety throughout the 2 weeks I stayed, in the first week on the grill you could get steak and chicken, and the second week it was fish and steak, there would be 5 or six curry dishes, tomato pizza or plain tomato paste, if you don’t like curry or red meat you will struggle to get decent food most nights. The other restaurant does have more variety and was good, however on an all inclusive you still had to pay for going to the restaurant, but get a 20 discount. For lunch I didn’t bother with it and skipped the meal because of repetitiveness of the food, I did have lunch at the food truck twice, if you order a beef burger it was cooked fresh and would be hot, the chicken burger were kept warm and was cold. The bar service was very good and lots of variety, although poolside service was a bit hit and miss, some days they would come round and other days they didn’t, but service was a bit slow and wouldn’t always ask us if we wanted a drink but would ask others around us. Facilities There are 3 pools which all offer something a little different, the larger pool near the bar is good for those that want to cool off and have a good swim, this is where the day to day pool entertainment takes place and with music constantly playing it’s not a quiet place to relax and has limited sunbeds. The other two pools are located near the accommodation, one is more of a paddle pool and the other is deeper that you can swim in too, they have limited sunbeds, the hotel was full when I stayed and you had to get your sunbed reserved by 8.30 otherwise you wouldn’t find one around the pool area. The beach area however does have a lot of sunbeds both in the shad and sun, so there is plenty to go around. I didn’t attend the Spa, but did use the gym, it’s small and compact but offers enough to do a decent workout. Customer Service The staff are all very friendly and helpful, this is probably why others go back. Summary My view is that this is an average hotel that needs an update, considering changing food to accommodate more variety and good luck if you are vegan or need a gluten free diet. Read less
