The hotel

All-suite and all-inclusive, the Ravenala Attitude is styled in contemporary, colonial and tropical hues. With an open-plan, no boundaries design, the restaurants and bars flow seamlessly towards the pool, gardens and beach beyond. But it’s not all about appearances — it goes deeper. Its ‘Culinary Voyage’ takes you from Asia to Italy in nine restaurants, seven of which you can sample as part of your All-Inclusive package. You can tuck into 'Granmamas' Mauritian fare at Kot Nou, street-food takeaways on the beach at Taba-J, and enjoy the romance of the floating Riviera restaurant. The kids' clubs provide various fun activities, whilst the Sport Village and Boat House offer endless diversions, from kayaking along Rivière Citron to riverbank yoga. And the hotel's ‘Otentik’ concept gives you a true insight into Mauritius, in cookery classes, local music, a self-guided tours app, and a weekly ‘Otentik Bazar’, with all profits from the ‘made in Mauritius’ goodies going to the craftspeople. You can even dine on ‘Otentik Dinners’ with locals in their homes. This charming resort is great for families, with large rooms and a range of activities, whilst couples will love staying in the Executive Seafront Adult Suites in the adults-only section.

Lovely hotel in well maintained grounds. We had a ground floor room overlooking the river which we really liked, peaceful and scenic. Room was spacious and clean, although no seating, just one rocking chair. Hotel is also a popular small conference hotel, but plenty of space in hotel grounds restaurants etc so it never feels full or busy. Plenty of restaurants plus the buffet, however you have to book restaurants in advance, which is not always possible. Lime restaurant is a supplement on the beach is great, but a fixed menu, which we enjoyed but would have liked a little choice. Large pool areas were lovely, we spent most time at the beach area. Fantastic friendly service from all staff, including Kevin, Phillippe, Owen, Yadhav, Anousha and others, we made good use of the sports and played beach volleyball nearly every day (Geoff says hello). We tried paddle boarding, kayaking, Charon, a type of boules etc and enjoyed the encouraging interaction with the staff. Beach area is clean and mainly coral sand. Best snorkelling can be found by crossing the mouth of the Citron lagoon and walking 3 minutes to the coral in front of the neighbouring hotel. Excellent array of reef fish. There’s not much to see outside the immediate hotel area; taxi required to get out and about. Read less

The bedrooms need a serious revamping. Septic drains/system huge problem. Bad smell in rooms. TV compliment only available in French or Hindi. Great restaurants on site. Make sure you book in advance your restaurant. Fully booked if you’re not proactive.
