The Ravenala Attitude

Mauritius, Indian Ocean

The hotel

All-suite and all-inclusive, the Ravenala Attitude is styled in contemporary, colonial and tropical hues. With an open-plan, no boundaries design, the restaurants and bars flow seemlessly towards the pool, gardens and beach beyond. But it’s not all about appearances — it goes deeper. Its ‘Culinary Voyage’ takes you from Asia to Italy in 10 restaurants, eight of which you can sample as part of your All Inclusive package. You can tuck into 'Granmamas' Mauritian fare at Kot Nou, street-food takeaways on the beach at Taba-J, and enjoy the romance of the floating Riviera restaurant. The kids' clubs provide various fun activities, whilst the Sport Village and Boat House offer endless diversions, from kayaking along Rivière Citron to riverbank yoga. And the hotel's ‘Otentik’ concept gives you a true insight into Mauritius, in cookery classes, local music, a self-guided tours app, and a weekly ‘Otentik Bazar’, with all profits from the ‘made in Mauritius’ goodies going to the craftspeople. You can even dine on ‘Otentik Dinners’ with locals in their homes. This charming resort is great for families, with large rooms and a range of activities, whilst couples will love staying in the Executive Beachfront Adult Suites in the adults-only section.

We have just got back from 10 days at the Ravenala hotel and as a family of four we just couldn’t fault it. Everything was fantastic and the hotel team were just brilliant. The hotel wasn’t full as they are building up their season following opening up after Covid, so we felt very spoilt by the hotel staff all way from top management to the team on the beach, and bar and restaurant staff. Everyone one was so polite and just wanted to make sure we had a memorable holiday. The hotel facilities were brilliant from the beach sports run by Kevin and Avii, the sailing, snorkelling and paddle boarding, to the ladies in the Spa, and all the varied restaurants they have on the resort. Even the chap who ran the smoothies bar on the beach was happy to see us each morning. A great holiday and we will be back! Read less

Stayed for 9 nights in a sea view room with amazing sunset views. From checking in to checking out, the hotel and staff, could not be faulted, apart from not getting the chance to try all of the 10 restaurants. The reception, lobby is huge, checking in was a breeze, covid protocols in place and my 1st of 2 antigen tests was done. They give you a diary so you can record your experiences. Shown to my room and my jaw dropped, it was huge and the balcony faced the sea and the beach, the views were to die for. Bed was comfortable, the rain shower was amazing, a fridge was available and you could go to the store and top it up with local beer and soft drinks. To avoid plastic waste you could get a returnable water bottle which could be topped up at any of the bars, at the end of your stay you could purchase it or return it, great idea. The grounds were lovely, plenty of flowers and trees, the Ravenala was previously known as he Plantation, and you can see why. The swimming pools were huge and were a short walk away from the sandy beach. There are bars and restaurants all over the place, Taba-J was lovely for midday snacks, wraps, noodles and bhajees. or you had the BBQ, or Lime (sushi). Breakfast was served in the main buffet restaurant (Moziac) could not ask for a better selection of food. This was also open for dinner, and you will be spoilt with the selection, especially the indian/amuritian food and freshly cooked naan breads.. the other 9 restaurants need to be booked, the menus were available on an app, with the prices, just incase you were not on all inc. As with the restaurants, plenty of bars around the resort, and the pool and beach guys ensured you never ran dry. The staff are some of the best I have ever come across and it was obvious they were glad to have guests back after the long lockdown. They are an asset to the management of this hotel, and a big thank you to all of you. Read less

We recently visited The Ravenala Attitude for our Honeymoon and were delighted from start to finish! The standard of accommodation, food and service was excellent. The hotel itself was immaculately clean. We stayed in an adult only executive suite, which was large and very comfortable. The room benefitted from huge, comfortable beds with air con and an ample sized en suite bathroom. The all inclusive package is fantastic with 10 restaurants available and plenty of drinks to try! It must be said that the staff at this resort are incredible and in my opinion raise the category of this hotel from 4* to 5* Personal touches from a few members of staff including Kishan our beach waiter and also Sunny and Rodney from the restaurants made our stay all the more enjoyable! Fantastic destination for both family’s and couples (I would recommend couples get the adult only suites if possible) Thank you all so much! Read less

Overall we have had a great stay at RA. The setting, food, drinks and staff are great. In particular I would like to mention: - chef Ravi and his team for providing an excellent fish lunch with the tuna and Dorado we caught. Sashimi and grilled fish were stunning - Roma and the team in guest relations for upgrading our room and kindly letting us have an extended check out time. This was much appreciated - Kevin and Avvi for friendly and enthusiastic entertainment - Rodney for first class service in Madame Ming - the pool and beach drinks service team and the team at the beach bar (sorry - I don’t know your names apart from Yeshven and Mozahir but you all did a great job). - the chef and waiter at Kot Nou for a really enjoyable cookery demonstration (sorry I don’t know your names). A few minor niggles (intended constructively to help improve an already great resort): - please don’t blast out the music at the pool - the lunch offering was pretty weak for c200 people. At the beach BBQ, the containers were often empty for extended periods eg no fries/desserts. The BBQ was slow (why do it to order? Just cook lots ready for clients) and I was served undercooked meat twice. And there is little variety on offer for lunch. Few salads. The Taja huts are great though. - our one negative evening experience was at the Italian restaurant. The food was great but the service was terrible. We were ignored for about an hour. When I did ask for a drink, it never arrived. Overall, we were really happy with our stay and would definitely recommend the resort. It’s very good value and the food and drink are excellent. Definitely deserving of its 4 stars. It has a friendly, relaxed vibe and the staff are working hard and trying to please. Just a couple of minor tweaks (esp lunch) and it would be perfection. Thank you for a great holiday. Read less
