The hotel

Overlooking the beautiful bay of Grand Baie, the Veranda Grand Baie Hotel & Spa is bursting with Creole charm and is ideally located for exploring the nearby restaurants, bars and shops. All rooms have been sumptuously decorated with cool, soothing tones and are dotted amongst the grounds. Enjoy a pre-dinner drink from your private balcony or terrace, admiring stunning views of the surrounding gardens or swimming pool. Water sports are, of course, in ample supply. Windsurfing, kayaking, snorkelling and pedal boats are complimentary, as is a glass-bottom boat ride so you can admire life below the waves without getting wet! Pay a bit extra and you can join PADI qualified instructors on diving expeditions and set sail on the resorts catamaran for an exciting excursion. The Kids & Teens kiosk will keep little ones entertained with a whole range of exciting activities. There’s also the delightful Seven Colours Spa should a spot of pampering, well-deserved no doubt, appeal. Le Food Comptoir serves a delicious range of local dishes as well as more international favourites. Lazy Lobster, set right beside the ocean, is more suited to special occasions, taking you on a culinary journey you’ll never forget.

We eat in the Lazy Lobster restaurant. What a wonderful location and great local food. The experience was doubled in enjoyment by our waiter - Akilesh. He recommended dishes and local wines that we may not have tried without his advice. His advice and friendly attitude made this a fun evening that we will long remember. Thank you Akilesh. Had a lovely meal on the beach for my birthday. Thanks to Ashvil for Alikesh for great service and Divesh the chef. Friendly and professional. A fairly short but good wine list. Who knew the local wine is from lychees ! Nothing was too much trouble..

We had a wonderful honeymoon dinner at the lazy lobster restaurant at Veranda Grand Baie during our stay. We were greeted by all of the staff including Divesh the chef to explain what we will be having for dinner. Our meals were extraordinary, starting with smoked marlin salad, beautifully presented, a local pumpkin soup, dorado fish with tiger prawn for me and fillet of beef with tiger prawn for my husband, ending with a humungous delicious chocolate mousse which we were too full to finish! Everything was created so beautifully and generous portions. Akilesh our waiter was so sweet, he served us our drinks and food so attentively and made us laugh and smile whilst doing so. The rest of the team were amazing (I’m sorry I don’t remember all the names!) but we are very grateful and would recommend this restaurant to try out during your stay! Thank you x Read less
