The hotel

Surrounded by lush tropical gardens, leading down to a lovely 1.5km beach, the Veranda Palmar Beach is great for those seeking tranquil surrounds. There are plenty of water sports to enjoy too, including diving, sailing and fishing. For the less energetic, the golden beaches are a perfect haven for sunbathing. The smiles and generous attention of the hotel staff contribute to making this a popular choice of hotel. We have just visited this hotel - The hotel is well positioned with a lovely beach and which allows you to go for some nice walks at sunset. Unfortunately there is a person who is not connected to the hotel and who is trying to sell trips around the island to the guests. He arrives around 5am and has very loud arguments with the security guards which wakes you up in the morning if you are in the rooms closer to the beach. He stays all day and harasses the guests when they enter the beach - something must be done to prevent this as it is very off putting for guests. The rooms are nice and represent value for money - we had a sea view room which was located near to the beach and which had a lovely outlook of the sea. Staff were very friendly and always helpful. The food is really the only thing that lets the hotel down and does not represent value for money despite management trying to justify it on a previous post, as catering for different individuals and value for money. The food is limited, repetitive and quite frankly boring most of the time - I ended up eating salads a lot. I like the hotel, the location and the staff but unfortunately won’t be back as I think the food experience was below average. Read less

There's lots to like about this hotel; great beach, inclusive boat/snorkelling trips, daily games organised by enthusiastic staff. Good pool. The rooms are comfortable with balcony, and many with decent sea views. The issues with this hotel are mediocre at best /repetitive cuisine (unless you pay extra at the beachfront seafood restaurant, which is very good), slightly 'hit and miss' service levels, particularly at the bar, and relatively poor quality inclusive beers and spirits. Ultimately, it's often about value for money and as you can see from many reviews, many travellers feel this hotel represents good value. While we would not disagree, we're unlikely to return. Upon arrival at Veranda Palmar, we were welcomed by two of the Reception team who immediately took care of all our bags and directed us to have some breakfast (at the Restaurant) first, before doing the sign in Admin as our flight and airport transfer were one after the other - this immediately set the tone for the trip as EVERY staff member made our family feel like royalty at the Hotel. We were a group of 5 - My wife, my sister, my wife, my 2 year old daughter and I. At the Restaurant we were explained the hours for the food and beverage options which basically meant that our each and every eat and drink need was basically able to be covered by the facility (if not the restaurant, then the Baracuda Bar too). After breakfast, we signed in and then proceeded to receive the tour of the facility. We were totally blown away by not only the quality of the location itself, but the amount of available resources and facilities for all their guests. Options were available for the entire family, for all ages. This was really impressive. A very special mention goes to Teacher Charlene and the Kids Area team who took special care to not only look after our daughter and any others who visited them during our stay, but always provided fun and exciting activities through the course of each day. We are not the type to simply drop our little one off there for the day, but they were flexible enough for kids to pop in and out at their leisure - which was a great way to ensure that kids do not get overwhelmed by the new faces and things in the trip. The level of excellence did not stop there, the three-four day forecast of FREE events for all would be on display in the poolside area for all to see what is available to book or participate in. This included Aquagym, Beach Volleyball, Glass Boat Trips, Cookie Baking for kids, Morning Yoga, Dance Lessons, Karaoke and the list goes on. Room service took care of the essentials in our rooms to ensure that we always had beach and bath towels along with the standard refreshments for the day. The restaurant saw to our dining requirements for each and every eating time (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner - each and every day producing a different and exciting menu at each meal time to understand the unique diversity of not only Mauritius, but what Veranda Palmar is capable of). I could carry on forever about this unforgettable trip, but one thing is for sure, that when we return to Mauritius, we will definitely stay at Veranda Palmar. Exceptional Location, Food and Drink, Patient and Helpful Staff, Child Friendly Play Area - All along with amazing views wherever you look. Everything we could have dreamed of for a family holiday. Thank you to the entire team for making it a truly marvelous holiday for our family. Read less

The resort is nestled in a lovely and serene location surrounded with lushes greenery, palm trees and flora within the resort itself. A footstep from the resort you will find yourself taken aback by the beautiful blue ocean that stretches along the coastline, postcard perfect. Water is almost luke warm, no rough waves and soft sand. Makes for incredible photo opportunities, refreshing swims, long walks along the beach and well deserved relaxing downtime. Rooms are spacious, well made and clean. It has everything you need from the basic toiletries and beach towels are also available to you everyday. Housekeeping tends daily to rooms to keep them clean and fridge stocked. Meals included were breakfast, lunch, dinner and teatime with a variety of dishes and desserts to choose from. Staff was very friendly and very helpful. Daily activities offered for adults and kids. The best part about it is that it is super child friendly with an on-site daycare to keep kids occupied when needed. My baby 2 years old, thoroughly enjoyed this part the most and wanted to spend most of her time there with who she called Teacher Charlene. Charlene was just Incredible and cannot praise her enough for taking such good care of our baby and for the daily activities with her. As a family we had a blast and could not have asked for a better place to do so. Read less
