The hotel

Not just a hotel, Zilwa Attitude is more of an experience, embracing the life of the islanders. With a relaxed village feel, it is packed with authentic Mauritian experiences so you’ll truly feel like one of the natives after a week or two here. In a beautiful location, overlooking endless stretches of sandy beach and with stunning views of no less than five islands, it is a slice of heaven. Just a few minutes away by boat, or a short paddle, is Grand Zil where you can while away a few hours on a lounger and perhaps tuck in to a barbecue lunch — or enjoy a rejuvenating massage on the smaller Ti Zil. Rooms are inspired from traditional seaside bungalows and are contemporary in design but rustic too with rough white-washed walls and brushed cement floors. Embracing bright colours, there's a choice of room types, as well as family rooms, apartments and suites by the sea. Book a treatment at the world-class spa and take some time to chill on a day bed in the relaxation garden whilst listening to the twitter of birdsong. As you kick back, the little ones will be kept happy at the kids' club, with a fun garden, a games room and a large boat to explore and escape the sun ! There are six restaurants at Zilwa, offering cuisines from European to Creole, Indian and Asian, and the All Inclusive dine-around experience means you can discover wonderful varied meals each day of your stay.

My friend & I have just returned from 8 nights holiday staying at the Zilwa attitude. From the moment you arrive you know you have arrived at a beautiful place, the wow factor as you walk into reception needs no words, the view is stunning. After being delayed & arriving at the hotel very late nothing was to much trouble, we were shown to our rooms & as we had missed dinner a little plate of food & macaroons had been left for us to enjoy-very thoughtful. The rooms are comfortable & rustic & always immaculately cleaned (my only very small disappointment was I emailed the hotel before the holiday asking for twin beds but when we arrived it was a double with 2 single duvets, not the ideal situation!!) 3 different little beaches to sit on & never any problems getting sun beds whatever time of the day, you don’t even have to move to get a drink as the lovely Lensley was always on hand to take our drinks order! The pools are great too & never to busy & noisy & with 4 to choose from spoilt for choice. The boat house with the lovely Angela always had a variety of activities from paddleboarding to Kayaking & the glass bottom boat is also worth a trip out on which is included. You just book on but we often turned up that morning & never had any trouble booking anything. Not to be missed is the little trip to the island where you can chill in a hammock in the sea, walk around the little island & enjoy a delicious BBQ lunch. The food & drink were amazing & always plenty of choice so you def wouldn’t go hungry, the buffet always stocked up & steaming hot. The staff were always on hand & making sure drinks were filled up & nothing was too much trouble. Special mention to Shweta & Ashwin who were always super helpful with a smile on their faces. The barmen making delicious cocktails especially Jim who made us some yummy ones. If you want to do any trips use the taxi service connected to the hotel as much cheaper. Prices are available & they are all knowledgeable & very proud to talk about there Island & take you on amazing days out, often adding extra little stops along the way. We had a lovely driver called Shivam & would highly recommend him, we ended up using him for several trips. Overall we had the most amazing time & would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone & would def like to return one day. The view, food & drink & the staff make this a special place. Read less

Zilwa has been a fantastic holiday and an unforgetable experience. Stunning grounds and views from the three seperate coves within the hotel grounds. First of all I have to mention one staff member in particular Favour. He is at the main bar SiroKann. A true gent who made my wife and I feel so welcome and left us wanting for nothing. He is a real credit to the hotel and please if managment read this he is a true credit to your establishment. The wow factor starts as you enter the complex, you will know what I mean if you come here. Given the location and traffic you will average an hour or so transfer. And the rooms are available from 1400 thats 2pm on arival. We were very lucky and were in our room by 1300 1pm. So I highly recomend having a pair of swim shorts in your hand luggage so you can head straight to the beach or pool. And grab a bottle of sun cream from your luggage before they are taken by the valet. The rooms are lovely, have a simple clean design, beds in our room were comfortable as I prefer a firmer mattress. So sleep was no problem for me. The food also was outstanding each of the resturants (Mauritian, Indian, Thai, lobster beach) were some of the best food I have had. The main buffet was good enough with a nice selection of meats curries and veggies. Not the most selection I've seen from an all inclusive hotel. But the restaurants more than made up for this by a long shot. There is a little food shop (free for all inclusive) that you can stock up your mini fridge daily. The watersports house offers snorkling and glass bottom boat trips, paddleboards hobby Cats for those that know how to sail. And best of all.. The hotel's own cateraman boat trip is 1800 rupies that about 34 British pounds and includes a whole day with lunch provided onboard, snorkling and chilling on a local island. Plenty of Rum and food vibes it's true value for money. Do bring water shoes. Though I didnt see any sea urchins here, they are about as well as coral the volcanic rock can be very sharp. So bear that in mind. Now I will mention that as a lover of the water and snorkling etc yes you can go on trips to see sea life. However, from the beaches here there is nothing to see, the reef here is very shallow and silty sand again hidden sharp things can catch you out. That being said the sand is still lovely and I didnt always wear shoes just trod carefully. But if you want to snorkel go out on the trips. Not from the shore. There are a few locals who walk the beach offering dolphin and turtle trips. We didnt use them however, saw pictures from other guests and you will literally swim with dolphins and trutles in the wild no cages or crulty here. Just fantastic experiences. We paid via the tour operator to go on a big catamaran out west and saw a pod swimming next to the boat which was an unforgetable moment. There is a great shaded kids pool for babies and toddlers to keep out the direct sun which I thought was a nice touch. Food wise I didnt see much in the way of child type meals. There is pizza and fish type fingers I saw. If you have a fussy eater it may be slightly difficult. But if you have a little hoover then there will be no problem. High chairs etc found throughout. And the Staff are brilliant with guests children. This is a very nice place to bring kids. And it never felt like a mad house over run with screaming little monsters. There was always just a chilled vibe. An absolute must is the little island boats run back and forth all day and you can book for a BBQ on the island. Well worth it with hammocks dangling in the water is a real treat. Cant think of anything else to say other that book it and enjoy!! Read less
