The hotel

Not just a hotel, Zilwa Attitude is more of an experience, embracing the life of the islanders. With a relaxed village feel, it is packed with authentic Mauritian experiences so you’ll truly feel like one of the natives after a week or two here. In a beautiful location, overlooking endless stretches of sandy beach and with stunning views of no less than five islands, it is a slice of heaven. Just a few minutes away by boat, or a short paddle, is Grand Zil where you can while away a few hours on a lounger and perhaps tuck in to a barbecue lunch — or enjoy a rejuvenating massage on the smaller Ti Zil. Rooms are inspired from traditional seaside bungalows and are contemporary in design but rustic too with rough white-washed walls and brushed cement floors. Embracing bright colours, there's a choice of room types, as well as family rooms, apartments and suites by the sea. Book a treatment at the world-class spa and take some time to chill on a day bed in the relaxation garden whilst listening to the twitter of birdsong. As you kick back, the little ones will be kept happy at the kids' club, with a fun garden, a games room and a large boat to explore and escape the sun ! There are seven restaurants at Zilwa, offering cuisines from European to Creole, Indian and Asian, and the All Inclusive dine-around experience means you can discover wonderful varied meals each day of your stay.

The food and atmosphere is authentic and local so you’ll experience what it feels like to be a true ‘islander’. I would like to give a special thanks to Prithvi who kept us active and entertained with aquagym, water polo, games and evening entertainment. These activities allowed us to meet new people and make memories we’ll never forget. To add, reception is well trained in first aid and a nurse is available on-site during working hours so you’ll always feel safe and taken care of. I look forward to visiting Zilwa again! Read less

We have just arrived back from Zilwa- what an incredible place- I have to say this is one of the most beautiful hotels I have ever stayed in. The first view as you walk through the entrance area looks out onto the infinity pool with the ocean stretching out ahead of you with Coin De Mire Island in the distance. We really loved the natural, more rustic ‘islander’ feel to the place and the fact that they are very mindful of the environment (no single use plastic). I especially loved the decor. What really made our trip a memorable one was the staff. Everyone was so friendly and attentive, always so polite and making you feel totally relaxed. A special mention to Prithvi on the animation team. He has a brilliant energy and sensor of humour. We very much enjoyed his Aqua Gym sessions (almost everyday!) He also took us on the Bike Tour to Goodlands which was fab. You can tell that he has a real passion for his job and that he is very personable- always checking in and making sure we were having a nice time :) We stayed in room 1622 which had incredible views over the ocean- I loved getting up to watch the sunrise. The lovely Amand was very attentive and did a brilliant job of keeping our room spotless. A massive thank you to Rohan who kept our drinks full at the main bar in reception. Such a lovely chap who clearly works very hard always with a smile on his face. I would have to say the highlight of my trip was the Catamaran trip which included snorkelling, boat bbq, swimming in the mangroves and a stop at Deer Island. DJ and his colleague made it a very memorable experience for us- thank you. I feel very lucky to have made some amazing memories with my family at Zilwa, and I hope to come back again in the future. Otentik Dinner - What a fabulous time we had at Rani’s house for the Otentik dinner! Her family were welcoming, engaging and attentive to our every need. Rani and her daughters cooked a fabulous and very delicious meal for 8 of us which was accompanied with rum, beer and soft drinks. We had music, dancing and a lot of laughter. We tried on saris and Rani explained all about her religion and her culture. A marvellous evening with a warm and gracious host. I thoroughly recommend this experience if you visit the Zilwa Attitude hotel. Cleaning - we stayed in a beach front room no. 3111 and it was cleaned daily by the lovely Babita. We tried to keep the mess to a minimum but she wouldn’t have cared if we had been slobs to be honest. Every day she came in and made it look like the day we arrived. Such a charming lady and so dedicated to her job. All she wants is to ensure that the guests have the best time whilst at Zilwa. I shall miss our daily chats for sure. Staff - the staff that work in reception, the bar and all the restaurants are incredible. So happy, they want to fulfil your every need. A special shout out to Visham in the beach bar for introducing us to the Green Attitude cocktails, Ashley for all his tips, Rohan and Arvind in the hotel bar for the keeping us topped up with the best Green Attitude cocktails, beer and sparkling rose (dry of course) and all the other staff that made this trip so memorable. This is a lovely hotel for couples and families alike. A real paradise, a place where batteries are recharged and waistlines are widened. Lots of experiences and memories to be made here. You should visit! Read less

We stayed in April for 2 weeks All Inclusive and there is not a bad word to say about the hotel. The setting is just simply beautiful and the staff were amazing and couldn't be more attentive if they tried, we had a great laugh with them and they really helped to make our stay memorable. My now husband and I got married at the Zilwa and we wouldn't have done it anywhere else. We had a large group so married under the main cabana on the main island so hotel guests can watch your wedding, but this really didn't bother us. We then went over to the islet where we held our reception and had a live band, who really set the atmosphere and got everybody on their feet. The food was great along with the drinks package we booked. We ended our time on the islet with the Sega Dancers who were fantastic and got guests involved. We ended the wedding evening with a DJ in the conference room and again couldn't fault it, the staff were amazing. The only tip we would give would be if you are wanting your wedding party to last a little longer you will need to ask the wedding coordinators Kim or Karishna (who are amazing) and this will be at a charge. Our party ended at midnight and we were not quite ready to finish. We hadn't been made aware before hand that we could pay extra to have it last until 3AM, I think this is because they don't exactly want to encourage this and it would mean staff working longer hours. We found this out from another couple getting married the week after us who had paid the extra. The all inclusive food is great along with the generous measures of alcoholic drinks! I would say our favourite restaurants which you have to book was the A la Carte on the beach and the Indian - Delicious! The Chinese and Mauritian were also great. The added extra's such as Kayaks, Pedal boats, paddle boarding and snorkelling were just the icing on the cake. A big shout out to Ashley, Mr P and the guys at the beach bar who really looked after us! Along with all the other staff but there are too many to name! Safe to say we didn't want to leave and cannot wait to return! Unfortunately my laptop will not allow me to share photographs, but top tip is to look at the Zilwa location tags on instagram, to see holiday goers snaps! Read less

We don't like to ask our son to go to the kids club, but one day he decided he wanted to go and we couldn't stop him going back. The activities were amazing, horse riding on the beach, island treasure hunts, glass bottom boats, even just splash time at the pool. The team that looked after kids, teenagers and adults were just fabulous. We really loved the restaurants and the food. Zilwa is not part of a typical hotel chain where you could be anywhere in the world. It is local and focuses on sustainability for the environment and the economy. We loved going to the plastic free ship to refill our snacks and water. We also loved the welcome of staying at the Zilwa. Things weren't always perfect, but there was always warmth, a smile and a host of delights that we were privileged to enjoy. Beautiful hotel, a lovely to team and such a fabulous and friendly island.
