The hotel

Charmingly modern, yet at the same time crammed full with culture, the Dan Panorama has little touches of history everywhere you look. From the natural stone exterior, to the rooftop pool overlooking the city and the unbeatable location, you’re certainly in for a treat. Sample some Israeli cuisine in the restaurant, and chill out in one of the three bars, cocktail in hand. Hop across the road to Bloomfield Gardens (one of the largest parks in Jerusalem) and meander through the Old City, admiring the fascinating architecture and historical remnants of one of the oldest cities in the world.

The first room we were provided with was in shockingly poor condition (& it wasn’t cheap, nor had we got a last minute” deal” ). The first room we were provided with was in shockingly poor condition (& it wasn’t cheap, nor had we got a last minute” deal” ). The hotels advertising is very misleading - stating it’s a “ renovated” hotel . The lobby & common areas are well presented & maintained , but the rooms leave a lot to be desired . Initially we were told the hotel was fully sold out - which was “ inaccurate “& that no better rooms were available. Some research indicated otherwise , a complaint ( with photos) was lodged & we were given an upgraded room , which was significantly better , but by no means completely renovated ( old bathtub with door & tacky caulking) . This type of accommodation creates a poor impression on guests & does not enhance one’s experience of th3 beautiful city of Jerusalem . I have stayed in hotels in major cities in the world ( Sydney , Tel Aviv most recently) which were far superior & cost less . This hotel does not reflect well on the Dan Hotels . Not recommended until fully & completely renovated . Pluses - on site parking ( the attendant was very well organized ), tea & coffee available to guests on Jewish holidays & Shabbat ), well presented common areas which are well kept, comfortable bed with clean linens . Another negative is the hotels restrictive cancellation policy of 2 weeks ! Read less

Lots of staff and they are nice. Breakfast was in Israeli style, meaning there’s tons of of food and great variation but quality was mediocre(example, inedible Malawach) and most disappointing - nothing vegan to my daughter. Today in Israel that’s unacceptable. And because of Shabbat they could not prepare anything for her. The location is excellent, but I think there are better options in Jerusalem. Read less

The hotel is centrally located and in walking distance to most sites in the new and old city of Jerusalem. The room was simple and a bit outdated, but comfortable. The buffet breakfast was ample. This is not an amazing hotel but is much less expensive than top tier Jerusalem hotels and represents good value

Good hotel, very comfortable with friendly staff. We were booked in for breakfast and dinner, by our travel agent, and there was a good choice at the buffet. Only minor complaint was when we went to the bar, they didn’t have any sparkling water, they offered soda water instead. So we ordered a glass of wine instead, but this was locked in a cabinet and, unfortunately, the barman couldn’t locate the key. He was very apologetic though. Fortunately, there was a well serviced bar a couple of minutes walk from the hotel. We were in the hotel when the city came under attack, and we must commend the staff for looking after all of us (about 180) while remaining calm and not causing panic among the hotel guests. We were blessed to be able to celebrate the Passover holiday at the Dan Panorama The reason we like this hotel is its location- my husband likes that it's walking distance to the Westin wall-, it's competitive pricing, and most importantly it's outstanding customer service IN FACT, WHEN MY 8 Y.O. GRANDSON, -UPON SEEING SO MANY STAFF MEMBERS APPROACHING ME , ASKING IF ALL WAS FINE DURING HIS 2 DAY STAY- TURNED AND ASKED ME: "GRANDMA, ARE YOU A V.I.P.?" I RESPONDED THAT EVERYONE IS A V.I.P.AT THE DAN ! We wre not aware that the general manager, Yaniv, was transferred elsewhere, but we soon realized we had nothing to worry about Meir Elmelech is cordial, accessible, and seems genuinely concerned with the guests' input We wish him much success Our vacation would not be as wonderful as it was without the attentiveness of Gal, the reception manager. Gal always goes out of his way to make our stay is comfortable, accomodates special requests and does so with the most pleasant manner I'm sure that he is the reason why his staff is so friendly and efficient Saloom, who we know from last year, is a rising star at the hotel. When we had one or two problems he quickly handled them to our great satisfaction - and he did so happily Of course, it's always great to see Elna with her wonderful smile , and Carmen who is always available to help The dining room staff is wonderful. There are no words to thank Bassam, Shimon and Naim They are always available to accommodate special requests They have each been at the hotel for over 30 years, and their experience shows The facilities of the hotel are fine. The rooms are very clean, and vary in size depending upon what was reserved. As far as I know, every room has beautifully modernized bathrooms The lobby is pleasant and clean, with a piano and a wonderful pool table Boy, did my adult children love that pool table! The pool is small, but adequate. There had been a ping pong table in the outdoor area by the pool which was removed during refurbishment. Please return the ping pong table! This year, the prayer services were held in a smaller venue; it was much too crowded, and I hope that they return to a larger room next year There is a lovely playroom for young children, which came in quite handy for my grandchildren. As they did last year, the hotel set up a miniature golf course on the last day of the holiday. I only wish that they would do that more frequently during the course of the week so that it can be enjoyed more. The hotel offered, as it did last year, two tours of the local area. The tours were both in Hebrew and English and were free of charge What a delightful gesture! Food Services can be very important in a hotel, especially during the holiday. The lobby bar served a nice variety of food, and the manager was wonderful Natan, who had been the chef at the hotel for many years was transferred having been replaced by Michel, and experience Chef in his own right. He and his team prepared main courses that were of high quality, very tasty, and very plentiful. To be frank, I was a bit disappointed in the selection of salads. Israel is well known for its varied and interesting salads, and here, I feel they fell short. However, a day after voicing my criticism to the chef, the salads were much better. I hope this continues. The desserts, on the whole, were repetitive and not very good, and even taking Passover restrictions into account, they could have been better I was told that the desserts were not made in- house; perhaps it's time to get a new supplier? Frankly, however, the hotel did me a favor as I concentrated on healthier menu items LOL All In all, I'd be grateful to have the opportunity to celebrate at the Dan again next year. They truly made us feel at home n and for that I am grateful Read less
