The King David Hotel was a wonderful hotel to stay in while visiting Jerusalem. The hotel is very family-friendly. From the time we checked in to the hotel until the time we left, we were treated wonderfully by the staff. The hotel itself is steeped in history. The decor was very nice, and the rooms were quite large. They placed a roll-away bed in the room for our daughter, and we still have plenty of room to move around, sit on the couch, multiple chairs, use the desk, etc. The bathroom was very large. Two sinks, separate commode, tub, and a shower with multiple shower heads (standard and ceiling-mounted rain-shower head). And most importantly, plenty of space to hang towels and bathing suits to dry. The hotels' location is perfect. A very easy walk to the Jaffa gate and into the old city; Mamilla mall is even closer than Jaffa gate. Jaffa Street and Ben Yehuda Street are also close-by, and offer many shops and restaurants. And the Mehane Yehuda market is close as well. The breakfast buffet spread was superb. Plenty of options for gluten-free, dairy-free, and egg-free eaters like me. And plenty of cakes/breads, dairy, and egg options as well. The highlight of the breakfast for me was the israeli salad, smoked salmon, baked salmon, figs, dates, and halva. We enjoyed the Friday evening Shabbat dinner at the hotel. However, it was a little expensive. Saturday afternoon, we tried to eat at the pool restaurant. This was the only down-side to the hotel -- at the pool restaurant the staff was not very nice. The pool itself was very nice. Quite large, big enough to do laps (olympic-sized) and plenty of room for the kids to play and not disturb the adults too much. While the exercise room is technically only open from 7am - 7pm (as it is within the spa), the hotel staff can modify your room key so you can access the exercise room 24 hours. I was there every morning around 5am. There are free weights, a large weight bench for barbell bench press, a stand alone bench for dumbbell bench, multiple nautilus-type weight machines, multiple sets of dumbbells (up to 20 KG, or 44 LB), plates for the barbells, multiple treadmills, ellipticals, two exercise bikes, and one rower. And space to perform floor exercises. While all the staff was great, there were a few worth mentioning: (a) Taleb, the gentleman that runs the breakfast and dinner staff. He has worked at the King David for approximately 45 years. He always greeted us very kindly and made sure we had everything we needed when we dined. (b) Manuel, at the pool, always took a little bit extra care of us when we went to the pool; and (c) Andrea the night desk manager --- she was very quick to help us out around 2am when our daughter was sick with a stomach bug. Because our time was planned out in advance, we were not able to take advantage of the multiple free tours that the hotel offers. One is just inside the hotel and discusses the history of the hotel. Another takes a walk around Jerusalem. Next time at the hotel, we will take advantage of these tours. If I could give the hotel more than 5 stars, I most definitely would! Read less

King David Hotel Jerusalem. A historical hotel in terms of the history of the Land of Israel and the State of Israel. The hotel opened in 1930 during the British Mandatory rule in Israel, and passed events of war and peace, British military governors, presidents and prime ministers, from all over the world. Royal people from the countries of the world and even from a country neighboring Israel. Trade and peace agreements....etc., etc. Today, it still exudes aristocratic aromas, and apart from the pictures, the architecture, it definitely lives up to its rating... 5 stars+++, and maybe even more. Very expensive, but its location in the heart of Jerusalem, close to every holy place, to all three of the most influential religions in the last 3000 years, the excellent and uncompromising service of all the hotel staff, the little treats that exist in every room and suite, the history, and the overall attitude of the hotel management, probably give it the right to charge such prices. Sounds like a 'criticism on behalf of...'... really not, at times like this, when the country I live in, is in a long and bloody war... the possibility of feeling a little calm - even if it's only for two nights - definitely affects my review. Two great staff members at the hotel must be mentioned: Hanni Aliyan. Shaouky. Read less

We have been coming to the Dan King David Hotel Jerusalem in the last 10-12 years, for a weekend that always is a great pleasure, the rooms were always so luxurious, the facilities , the service , the food, everything, this year I felt that the room need a serious face lift, the bath had mould in the jets and spots in the bath tube, the wall to wall carpet was not all on the floor, the sealing in the entrance dripped water from the AC, the extra beds at the base had a torn fabric, this hotel is always considered as the best, and I must say the swimming pool is nice unfortunately not being cleaned around enough, had cans of Coca Cola around with plastic glasses , which is a pity since it’s so easy to just pick up. I ended up throwing it. The food was excellent, the service is always the best!!! Just the best!!! I know that now days it’s tough times , take as much time as needed we will still keep our yearly vacation tradition, just try and do a little at a time and the face lift will just put things back to place. The facilities, the rooms and the total overlooking are indeed like that; but the dining experience was nothing close to this and was very disappointing. We stayed at the hotel for two nights in July on a full board weekend. The staff were welcoming, the atmosphere was great but the menu during the meals was boring, didn’t change much, some hot dishes weren’t hot and the overall dining was disappointing. Desserts were good, but that’s basically the only thing I could point out as a plus. Read less
