Waldorf Astoria Jerusalem

Virgin rating

The hotel

As well as the superb service, snazzy décor and tasteful touches you’d expect from a Waldorf Astoria, you may just agree that this hotel tops them all. It’s historic and classy. It’s timeless and relaxed. And even though you may be keen to explore the Old City and all that’s happening just outside, why not grab a fresh coffee first and take in its loveliness from the glass-roofed atrium. If you’re feeling peckish, the food is inspired, from huge breakfast buffets to tasty afternoon teas. In summer, head up to the leafy rooftop garden for al fresco tapas – the views from up here are something else.

From the moment we arrived and were first greeted by the doorman to when we departed and throughout our 11 night stay each and every staff member went out of their way to make us enjoy every minute and provided service par excellence! Notable mention must go to Ameer (director of operations) who has put together an incredible staff who made sure each guest were graciously attended. The list goes on, but we must make reference to Hassam, George, Ramsey and the rest of the the food service team as well as Nathalie who all went out of their way, each and every day to make everyone enjoy. Thank you and looking forward to our next stay. Read less

I stayed at the Waldorf Astoria Jerusalem for a business meeting. I want to start off by mentioning that the hotel is amazing and I loved my room and my spa experience. The hotel is located less than five minutes’ walk northwest from the Alrov Mamilla Avenue, which has plenty of shopping and dining options. A ten minute walk down the avenue will take you right to the Jaffa Gate of Old City Jerusalem. You can also walk five minutes slightly uphill northeast to access the ‘City Center’ stop of the Jerusalem Light Rail, which will easily take you to New City Jerusalem. So the hotel is very nicely located and very safe. My room was a single King with a very comfortable bed – always important to sleep well when jet lagged – and equipped with a work area and a nice sofa. That a bottle of Muscato and a red were ready upon arrival was a very nice and well-appreciated touch. I am so very thankful for both the shower and the tub, which after a long day of walking is nice to sit for a soak in hot water. Now, at this point, I am nit-picking, so please don’t misunderstand. I really loved my stay at the hotel. A hotel of such high caliber should also be held to high standards, I believe. On check-in: one person was handling check-ins that Tuesday. A hotel guest had arrived and walked in front of me, basically cut in front of me to check in (I was walking towards the check in counter). The person addressing check-ins took care of that hotel guest, who then proceeded to take extra time asking about upgrades to their room and otherwise attempting to flaunt their affluence. I had no choice but to wait; I was surprised that for a Waldorf Astoria there is only one person taking care of check-ins! At the spa: I was ready for a nice, quiet massage at the end of a long week of work. As I was reading and enjoying a cup of tea, two young teenagers were allowed by spa staff to enter the waiting area and the kids were loudly talking on the phone with their friends, otherwise disrupting what I had expected would be a quiet moment. Thankfully I asked the staff to get the teens to leave, but generally if you don’t have an appointment you shouldn’t be allowed to go beyond the front desk of the spa. Read less

Beautiful property in a perfect location. Walking distance to all the attractions. Rooms are comfortable and well appointed. Service in the restaurant and bar is exceptional. Demolition of a property next door was going on but we found it interesting to watch. This is a great place to stay in Jerusalem.
