Waldorf Astoria Jerusalem

The hotel

As well as the superb service, snazzy décor and tasteful touches you’d expect from a Waldorf Astoria, you may just agree that this hotel tops them all. It’s historic and classy. It’s timeless and relaxed. And even though you may be keen to explore the Old City and all that’s happening just outside, why not grab a fresh coffee first and take in its loveliness from the glass-roofed atrium. If you’re feeling peckish, the food is inspired, from huge breakfast buffets to tasty afternoon teas. In summer, head up to the leafy rooftop garden for al fresco tapas – the views from up here are something else.

I stayed here while I was visiting the Old City. Perfect location to walk to the Jaffa Gate and visit the historical biblical sites: Church of the Holy Sepulcher, the Western Wall etc. there is a mall type walking street, Mamilla St that has plenty of shopping and dining. The hotel has two restaurants, a spa and the room was clean and comfortable.

During my check-in, Alexi from the front desk did not stop searching until he found the perfect room. And thanks to Rami, Assem, Siham, Karim from the front office. Amazing how Avner, the General Manager and Ameer, the Director of Operations don’t hide in their offices. Rather, they can both be easily found in the hotel lobby or dining room always ready to assist the hotel guests in any way possible. Maamoon, the outstanding Maitre d’hotel is a treasure. Maamoon is available from early morning until late at night working hard to please the Waldorf Astoria Jerusalem guests. And he has a great staff, including the waiter Hanna who goes above and beyond. And Sumaya who remembered exactly where we like to sit and our special food requests. And Wissam, the master of drinks who just introduced new yummy smoothies (containing passion fruit) for breakfast. Maxim and Mani were happy to assist with custom requests. No doubt we will return very soon, as the Waldorf Astoria Jerusalem feels like our second home. Read less

Enjoyed my 14th visit to the outstanding Waldorf Astoria Jerusalem. Many hotels claim that they “aim to please”, however the Waldorf Astoria Jerusalem goes way over and beyond the typical “aim to please”. Starting with my email to the Waldorf Astoria Jerusalem prior to my arrival with my custom requests for this stay. In only 12 minutes from the time that I hit send on my email, Siham from the Waldorf Astoria Jerusalem had already responded to my email. The wonderful Ihab from the Waldorf Astoria Jerusalem front desk gave the approvals for my special requests and the amazing Rami from the Waldorf Astoria Jerusalem front desk remembered specifically which room we like to have at the hotel and he set aside that room for our stay. As soon as I arrived at the hotel, David from the Waldorf Astoria Jerusalem Security team, recommended to me a local tourist site that he figured I would enjoy. And he was spot on. Fuad, the excellent weekday Maitre d’hotel gave me his typical warm welcome as soon as he saw me. Maamoon, the outstanding weekend Maitre d’hotel is another example of someone who truly consistently does way over and beyond the typical “aim to please”. And a thank you to Sumaya, Maxim and Hanna for assisting with my custom requests. I enjoyed the daily breakfast buffets (huge spread) and the special Friday night buffet (You must try the delicious Entrecote Steak and Corned beef) and the Sabbath/Saturday lunch buffet (The Lamb spare-ribs are yum). The food quality is excellent, and the servers are very friendly. Upon my return, I sent an email with an important request to the hotel. Gilly responded to my email in only 5 minutes and informed me that Ihab from the Waldorf Astoria Jerusalem front desk had already taken care of this request. Waldorf Astoria Jerusalem is the perfect hotel combined with perfect staff and in a perfect location. Read less
