Harrahs

Heavenly, Lake Tahoe

Virgin rating

The hotel

As soon as you arrive, you’ll see the natural stone and soothing wood panelling, like a giant Alpine-style retreat. This one overlooks the picturesque Sierra mountain range and Lake Tahoe. You can even enjoy these views from the picture windows in your room which, handily, is soundproofed to make sure you get a good night’s sleep. You may need it after exploring Heavenly's trails. Plus there’s so much to do here, from gambling in the casino and taking in one of the shows, to dining in fabulous restaurants (or in the all-you-can-eat buffet if you’re really hungry!). If all that sounds far too strenuous by half, fear not. The spa treatments, steam room, heated pool and sauna are all perfect for relaxing.

For those of you going to Harrahs Lake Tahoe, if you see this pit boss lady… STAY AWAY! We got to our room famished. There was no room service menu. I called down to the front desk but no one answered. I went down to the concierge only to find Harrah's doesn't have room service any more. It was 2:10 so no restaurants were open. That was just the beginning. No cups in the bathroom. Two glass glasses at the dry bar. Who wants glass in the bathroom? Had asked for a room with a Lake Tahoe view. We got an oblique view with a narrow, skinny slice of the lake and an expansive view of a parking lot. Very weak water pressure in the bathroom with lukewarm water at best. And this is the first hotel/motel that didn't have a Gideon bible. Oh, the price of the room was not the price of the room. There were layer upon layer of taxes, "resort" fees and other junk fees. The couple in the next room spent most of the night loudly making love. My wife slept only in fits and starts. Most trim in the bedroom and elevators were nicked and marred. Strips of wall paper had been torn from the walls in the hallway. Very seedy. We'll never book a room at Harrah's again. Read less

Been coming here for years now for a yearly conference. Building is really starting to show its age. Of the 8 or so elevators, only like 3 worked during my stay. When you have 400 people trying to use them at the same time to get lunch, it takes awhile to get where you need to go. I was here Monday till Friday morning. Never saw… Read more

My trash cans were overflowing and I never received fresh towels. A little disappointed. Read less

The rooms were dirty and out dated. They messed up my billing and it took a week to have my credit card refunded. When attempting to contact billing department their lines were busy and I had to send an email. I had to contact reservations department to request them to email me a copy of my final billing.

I visited Harrah's regularly 20 years ago and moved to the East Coast. I returned to Harrah's this last weekend. I was shocked at the decline of the property. 20 years ago, Harrah's was the class casino in Lake Tahoe. Now I see a 3rd class casino that made me sorry for the memory of Mr. Harrah. I parked for no more than 90 minutes and had to pay $25.00 for parking. There were very few people gambling. I saw maybe 15 people playing at the tables. I had the highest card Harrah's offered when I lived in Calif. now, I felt actually dirty being there. It is a shame because of the wonderful history of Harrah's. Recommendation, go someplace else!
