The hotel

This is the first of the Centara resorts in the UAE, and they’ve pulled out all the stops to create the ultimate family themed family resort to make your dream holiday come true. Inspired by mythical Thai and magical Arabian adventures, everything has been taken into consideration when it comes to suiting family trips, with interconnecting rooms and bunk beds available for all family sizes, and there’s even a childrens spa to sit alongside the adults one, so they can have their fair share of pampering too – after all, it’s tiring going down the water slides all day long! If you want to add that extra touch to your stay, upgrade to a Mirage room for access to the Family club lounge, complete with family-friendly check-in and a kids’ play area. It will be hard to pull them away from the adventure water park for food though, complete with water slides, high ropes, and a lazy river – it’s unlikely you’ll see much of them in the day, especially with the E-zone too. If this is the case, sneak away to the rooftop bar and enjoy a sundowner cocktail or a spot of shisha before dinner, overlooking the Arabian gulf.

When I reported it to Reception they seemed to think it was acceptable, provided they weren't knocking on the door. Impossible to access the lounge or bar area due to children running around, things strewn on the floor made it a trip hazard. Luckily the room was spacious and clean. The adults only pool was very small compared with the family pools. Read less

Family of 5, kids age 13,12,7. Booked this hotel as it was good value for all inclusive. We chose AI as it was July and we knew it would be too hot to do much site seeing and liked that everything was covered. The hotel is extremely clean, rooms were lovely, facilities were just as described, variety of pools, slides etc, 2 main pools were cooled as it was July. Sea water was like going into hot bath, was lovely. The choice and quality of food was excellent, best I’ve had for AI. So many of the staff are so friendly, Vishal and nandu at waves bar chatted away when they had the chance, we ate in sands bar each lunch time, JK and Rajesh were both wonderful, binod the bar supervisor was also friendly and I did notice everything was smoother and quicker when he was around. The main buffet staff were a bit lacking, empty tables were left uncleared and not reset for long periods of time, we could be sitting with several finished plates and even when asking for it to be taken away no one would take them, always had to catch a waiter to order drinks, they were often missing some etc, this was the only area I found lacking. Sheesh on the top floor we used for breakfast most days and 2 evenings, was very good, it’s very similar to what is available in main restaurant but is smaller so not as loud. Una mas is the a la carte and can be used as often as you like but needs pre booked, we went once, mixed experience, 2 steaks were fine, 2 were disgusting, full of fat, we walked through to buffet for Other food, they did offer to remake the steaks but we’d already been to buffet by then. Went to the spa with my daughter for the rejuvenate package, wonderful experience, the massage was top quality, kitiwa and mun were the ladies and they made us feel so relaxed. The pools and beach had an abundance of life guards, I was happy to let the kids go around the water parks area themselves, always felt they were safe. Kamal at the family pool was brilliant with the kids. Same questions come up a lot about this hotel, yes it is on flight path, no the planes do not bother you, you hardly notice them and don’t hear them in rooms. Yes it’s a large hotel but we always managed to find sunbeds around the pools and there were hundred of free beds at the beach. Kids, I was shocked at the behaviour of a lot of kids and more so that they were never checked by their parents, it was wild especially in the lobby area which seemed to be where many families gathered. The only downside to this hotel is no real evening entertainment, there were kids shows on in the lobby area but they were geared towards young children and were extremely crowded. The only options for having a drink at night were waves which was outdoor and too hot to sit outside or sands bar where we went after dinner each night, it’s a lovely chilled atmosphere but only had background music on and it was a bit boring. Due to the location of the hotel it is not possible to walk from the hotel to any other bars or restaurants. Read less
