The hotel

Inspired by the palaces of the Arabian Peninsula, you’ll feel like royalty at the Waldorf Astoria Ras Al Khaimah! In a prime beachside location, 1 hour from Dubai International Airport, there’s an 18-hole championship golf course at your disposal and a world-class spa for banishing any lingering cares. All of this, combined with the legendary True Waldorf Service ensures a memorable stay. When you can tear yourself away from the grandeur of your spacious room or suite, not one but two enormous swimming pools await you – grab a cocktail, a good book and stake your claim on the sundeck. For more active moments, there are water sports in abundance down at the beach. If you prefer dry land, a few rounds of golf are a must, if only to admire the stunning fairways! Whilst parents are at play, the kids can escape to their very own children’s club, offering a variety of activities. There are also plenty of family excursions to enjoy – desert safari anyone? When it comes to dining, the Waldorf boasts an eclectic selection. Feast on food from around the world, including Europe, Middle East and Japan. There are also more casual options with pizza, pasta and salads served by the poolside or on the beach. After dinner, head to 17Squared on the 17th floor, a sophisticated bar and lounge that boasts stunning 360 degree views of Ras Al Khaimah.

We flew to the Waldorf Astoria as a family with two children for 10 days. We had full board and a room with two double beds and a side sea view. Room: Luxurious, spacious, intact, clean, beautiful. There is absolutely nothing to complain about. There is a huge terrace, everything is childproof. Excursions: We went on a desert safari at the hotel one evening. Special thanks to Mary-Ann, who took great care of us via whatsapp and in person. Food: Simply incredible. There is a great buffet for breakfast, where nothing is left to be desired. There is a separate children's buffet, a fresh egg station, and so on. At lunchtime and in the evening there are five different restaurants with a la carte dishes, each with a children's menu, and every dish is a work of art. Served like in a gourmet restaurant, fresh, delicious and varied. Service: Well, we know some good hotels in this world, but we have never experienced service of this level. There is nothing that could have been better, every single member of staff smiled every single day, every single moment and was pleasantly attentive. Every “special request” (and anyone who has children knows that there are many) was met with aplomb. Whether we are talking about the cleaner, the waiter, the security, the lifeguard or the manager: EVERYONE gave 120%. Beach: This is the only point we can't praise too highly. The beach is “okay”. There is a “shell bottom” (no fine sand) and very shallow water with limited beautiful views. The sunbeds are very comfortable and towels and cold water are distributed. Kids Club: This is also great. There is a varied program and very nice supervisors. I only wish that children under the age of 4 were allowed to stay there on their own, but unfortunately the law doesn't allow that. Special thanks to: The gentlemen who provide pool safety for the slides (sorry, I don't know their names). We had our meal at the Lexington Bar and Grill where we were served by Ricky. He was truly professional in all aspects of his service. He had a great knowledge of wine and made suggestions on our selection. This made our entire experience thoroughly enjoyable.
