We arrived around 1 PM. When we tried to check in we were told by a girl behind the counter that check-in time was 4 PM, our room wasn't ready and if we gave her our phone number, which we did, she would call us when it was ready. So we waited until a bit past 4 PM, went to the counter to check in and found the girl we met was gone, our room had been cleaned and had been ready for an hour. The reason we weren't called, we were told, was because the front desk clerks don't know which rooms are ready because the cleaning crews only notify them when all the rooms are ready. We assumed we weren't told this at first because that was also part of the hotel's strange policy. We didn't ask any of the conspicuously annoyed guests milling about the lobby what they thought about such a policy. The stupidity of it, though, certainly explained our annoyance. On the plus side, the lobby is very pretty and a nice place to wait, and wait, and wait. The hotel web site is a bit misleading about the views from the rooms, although it has photographs that are accurate. Scenic views of the pine forest are available in only a few rooms. The rest have views that include a parking lot, a swimming pool or a recreational area. Photos of views from those rooms are not presented. The room photos that show bed arrangements include what looks like inviting balconies. Hah. The balconies are only 20 inches deep. Unless you are very skinny, you can't step out on one and close the door behind you without hitting yourself with it. Those balconies, more architectural whimsey than anything useful, do make the rooms appear impressive in the web site photos. To that limited extent, they do serve a purpose, just not one that benefits patrons. Overall, the hotel is very nice. Walks in the forest were invigorating. We didn't try the Silver Pine Restaurant, but it looked nice. Except for our "balcony", the amenities in our room were impressive. Pretending faux balconies are real can be understood and mostly excused as being typical advertising. Having a check-in policy suggestive of the Genghis Kahn School of Hospitality Management is another issue and is not excusable. It is rude and stupid. Read less

Rooms are exceptionally clean, BUT you need to book housekeeping otherwise they won’t service them during the stay. Plenty space in the room, good looking look, everything studied for comfort, several electrical sockets to allow recharge of all devices, couch, inroom sarfe, very large bathroom for the standards, a decente restaurant that offers also room service, pool/hot tub, playground. I would define return and highly recommend it, just a couple of suggestions: get Netflix for the guest in room, during rainy hours kids will be entertained better; make the welcome letter with the info more customer friendly and easier to read, because has important information. One tip: during weekends it looked very busy and you may need early reservation. Read less

Wonderful hotel with great attention to every detail. The room was immaculate and very tastefully furnished, and the property was beautiful. Lovely place and grounds. BUT it is terribly overpriced. I was unaware of the 30% surcharge (even though I checked online for it prior to booking and had already been assessed a nearly $100 surcharge). It was $200 more upon check in. I told the maid the next day to please have someone mop the floor while I was out as it very sticky all over. Not only was that not done, the room was not made up upon my return. Again, lovely grounds, but I will definitely not pay over $400 per night to stay there again. Read less
