On Mondays the restaurant is closed for breakfast, no notification of this, on asking we were told our allowance can be used at Starbucks which is attached to the hotel. Before breakfast we purchased a coffee from Starbucks and took it to breakfast as it is cheaper and much nicer. Plates etc from room service left outside rooms for 3 days before we alerted housekeeping! It appears a real staff shortage in the hotel Read less

I ONLY stay at Hilton hotels. I became a Diamond member because of all the hotel chains I’ve stayed at for both business and pleasure, and Hilton always stood out in hospitality. I was surprised with my most recent stay at Doubletree in downtown Boston —at the restrictions they have for Diamond members, that I have normally not encountered with Hilton. As my husband and I set out to walk the Freedom Trail, we asked for bottled waters as we receive each day we stay at Hiltons. We were abruptly told by the front desk person to get it in the snack store. After a conversation about how they only give it to Diamond members at checkin she said begrudgingly that she’d give it to me this time then wrote my room number down. Seriously? Also, you can only use your daily food credit at their restaurant and not the Starbucks on site, except for Mondays, when the restaurant is closed. The wait for our food was longer than we would have liked each day and Starbucks much quicker and conducive to our itinerary plans. If we were wanting something quick to get to a scheduled attraction we would’ve been stressed. This was surprising and the first time we experienced this with Hilton. Don’t know if this is Hiltons new policy but for this hotel it doesn’t seem to provide the noticeable extra level of service for Diamond members and also makes me wonder how they treat their regular guests. On the positive side: clean spacious rooms, helpful front desk staff, great heat and water pressure, Starbucks on premises. Next to the subway (Tufts Medical Center T station). Walkable to Whole Foods. Best restaurant nearby is Myers+Chang. On the negative: dirty elevators; dated rooms need more lights, more electrical outlets, and USB ports; no… Read more

Walkable to Whole Foods. Best restaurant nearby is Myers+Chang. OK if you need to be near the medical center, but overpriced for the quality. Helpful staff makes it better. Read less

I agree hotel rooms are a great size but in reality I’m not here to spend all day in my room. Very disappointed to find the rooms were not serviced everyday. There was no Starbucks or warm cookie on arrival. The bar was closed at 10:30 and Starbucks was closed at 2pm the following day. There was no USB plug in point to charge our phones which I would think is quite standard now. There was no complimentary bottled water either. One side of the bathroom does not quite match the other side, the basin and mirror were nice enough but the shower is something you would expect to find in a budget hotel. I would not recommend this place if you are looking for something with just a little bit luxury. Read less
Image of the Tripadvisor rating Noisy at night. Old hotel. Rude manager.

Doubletree Boston downtown is located right across Tuft Medical center and Chinatown. Therefore, the rooms are not quiet. I stayed there for couple nights and I was not able to stay sleep due to the noise. There are sirens, people yelling, at 2,3 AM and the windows and the walls cannot block the sound. I stayed on the 5th floor (6th is the top floor) so I cannot imagine what it would have been if i stayed on the lower floor. The hotel in general is kept clean but it is very very old. The elevator is slow, the bath room and the shower is old. My room was missing a fridge so I had to ask for one. The guy misread his text and came up with a microwave and so I had to wait another 30min to get a fridge. One of the lady I shared the elevator told me that someone was in her room. Apparently they mistakenly doubled booked and the poor lady, after a long flight was turned away. The manager there is very rude and not accommodating. Diamond member is granted $18 per day for food and beverage. And it can be used for breakfast or dinner. Well the manager their cannot comprehend that I can use two credits on same day. I spent 2 nights there and I used one credit for breakfast (1 credit) and another credit on dinner(2nd credit) but was on the same day. The manager charged me eventhough i was told that I can use it for both breakfast and dinner. I contacted Hilton directly in regards to this issue. It just made me furious that they didn't explain it better and that the manager just wouldn't listen thinking that everything she says is right. Good thing: Cookies! Double tree cookies are fresh and amazing. Overall, I would not recommend this hotel due to the noise and the manager. Read less
