Check-in and check-out were seamless. The entire staff was helpful and friendly. The hotel is grand in the old style and well maintained. The room was spacious and the bed was extremely comfortable. All of the amenities we required were provided and the hotel was quiet. The only drawback was the very small bathroom with insufficient space for toiletries, towel racks and hooks. However I have generally found this to be the case in historic hotels. Any inconvenience was soon forgotten once we began to enjoy the hotel restaurant, bar and perfect location. We toured the entire area from the U.S.S. Constitution to Harvard’s Arnold Arboretum by foot and bicycle. The area provided all of the history, restaurants, bars and gorgeous views that we could have hoped for. Read less

The hotel has a great location, near great shopping and dining outlets. However, the room was worn out and needs to be updated. The bathroom seems small for a hotel this expensive, and the layout of the bathroom is weird. The furniture is scratched and outdated.

The concierge level took our lodging to another level entirely. With exquisite sitting areas, appetizers and drinks in the afternoon, a FULL breakfast in the morning and wonderful & exemplary service by everyone. The Back Bay location is perfect to explore the Freedom trail and visit all areas. One of the finest lodging experiences I have ever enjoyed. This will be our only lodging on any trip to Boston. I booked a stay at the Fairmont Copley for my cousin's wedding about a month ago through another travel company (not Tripadvisor) . I was contacted by the property shortly thereafter telling me the original suite I booked (my elderly parents were staying with me) was no longer available, and I was downgraded to a smaller room and comped another similar size room. After my stay, I wasted a month of my time following up with the property and the travel company because I was charged the original suite fee for the room I was given. Neither Fairmont Copley or the travel company made the refund process easy which is ridiculous considering it was their error. After countless emails and follow up phone calls they offered me a $100 refund (less than the difference in the room I paid for and what I received) and some useless coupons on future travel company transactions (hint: there won't be any). This is easily the worst customer service experience I've ever had. This is not the type of experience I expect for the price point and there are other comparable and better hotels to stay in the city. The property employees (which I'm weighting heavily) are the redeeming parts for my trip. Read less
