The W hotel is one block away from Boston Common. It is in the middle of the Theatre District. One block from the green line. The rooms have almost everything you need for a short break (the paid wifi is a major downside).

The Check in was very unpleasant. The on-site manager reached out prior to check in and informed will try best to accommodate to check in a bit earlier. That of course did not happen. I store my luggage at the front desk and later found out the check in desk staff just put it aside without any attendant. The manager wrote an email asking the experience of the stay. When I wrote her back regarding the issue, she never replied. As a platinum member, they assumed to give points over breakfast. This has been one of a few unfortunate experience with Marriott branded hotel and would not recommend this W. Read less

I still can’t believe that I was just at a W hotel, this must have been the worst W and worst 5 star hotel in the world, especially for close to 500$ / night. I still can’t believe that I was just at a W hotel, this must have been the worst W and worst 5 star hotel in the world, especially for close to 500$ / night. Upon arrival, even though there were doormen present we were never helped with our 3-4 suit cases. The guys didn’t even help open the door. This was a repeated experience throughout our stay all the way to check out. It seems they were only interested in doing valet. Perhaps it was early, but I was checked in by Kathy and frankly I don’t have any nice words to say about the experience. I’ve been to strange parts of the world where communications can be an issue, but this was a check in experience from someone who really didn’t want to be there and couldn’t care less about the customer. I had some nice encounters with a younger team during the day, but both encounters with this FO lady really took the W, and the 5 star out of the experience. This is especially an issue in a nice, educated city like Boston where it’s so normal to be treated with good manners. The room was decent. Housekeeping could be better they clearly still left simple trash lying around, towels unfolded,... The water pressure was so so only. The room is actually not a bad product especially when I got a Suite upgrade. However the service here all around was so terrible I wouldn’t come back. Even at the concierge, the level of engagement and helpfulness is very minimal. Everything was - Feel free to do it yourself, but please call us whenever! This property really needs a new brand immersion lift. Read less

Great service and fantastic front desk staff; special shout out to Earl & Joe! Even the room service team has been extremely friendly and helpful by offering to come at specific times to fit our schedules.

This is probably my third time staying here for work. It’s my first time in the newly renovated rooms. The color scheme is quite nice. I love that they brightened up the room, and removed some of Eurotrash aesthetic and made it more colonial! Staff is hit or miss. Stephanie was super efficient and friendly at check in which I loved. I appreciated the well staffed valet team holding doors but they just stared at me upon arrival and watched me lug my bag from the curb to the door. Concierge staff did a nice job reaching out for any requests or occasions (I had none- it’s just a work trip). And they invited me to a complimentary happy hour which I unfortunately couldn’t make due to a work dinner. My ambassador tried reaching out to their sales manager so I could work out a corporate rate, however he doesn’t seem to keen on email communication so it’s been hard to iron something out, which is disappointing. My upgraded corner room was spacious which was nice to come back to after a day of working. The view certainly isn’t anything to write home about, but I wonder if any room has a good one given the area of the city it is in! My main beef is with the W locations in cities (that aren’t part of the W “escape” properties in tropical locations) are how little luxury you actually get. The restaurant and bar have pretty basic quality food options and the general vibe I feel is a little try-hard and not as hip as they would like. No turn down and rushed and minimal housekeeping makes me feel like they fall out of the Marriott luxury category even more. I wish they would take guest experience and personal touch as seriously as and Edition or Luxury collection hotels. Read less
