The entire restaurant scene has been gutted by COVID, and there is literally no where nice to go anymore. So I sauntered into The W thinking well at least there will be a civilized place to relax. Think again! This hotel is a mere 10 years old, and it looks like a tired old thing. It used to be so nicely designed with beautiful furniture and a waterfall adding to the eclectic European feeling. The people who frequented the place were unusual, eccentric and interesting. Well, the waterfall has gone and the dregs of humanity have discovered The W. It is now Fenway meets suburban women screaming, no food that I could see, and there was no nice music- or I couldn't hear above the din. Stay away, or go to the Tam, you will easily find the same crowd for less money. The bartender upsells (they need to, and you really do feel for the staff with this crowd) so order a malbec because nothing matters at The W. Read less

The W Boston was stop 2 out of 4 on our summer road trip, and I couldn’t have imagined a more welcoming, comfortable and accommodating stay in a perfect Downtown Boston location. In fact, our experience was so exceptional, we actually stayed an extra day! It was very rainy when we pulled up to check in and park (we booked a parking package), but that didn’t stop the very helpful valet employees from helping us with our luggage and doing their best to keep everybody dry. There was a glitch with the parking package as our vehicle would not fit in the hotel’s parking garage with the luggage carrier on top. Everyone we talked to went out the way to try to successfully find a parking solution, and Amanda Francis was exceptional as she quickly problem-solved a solution. All parts of the hotel were super clean and every employee was helpful, kind and courteous, but what stands out to me the most is the manner in which everyone truly seemed to want to provide guests with an outstanding stay. I feel very fortunate that Amanda was manning the front desk for most of our stay. Amanda not only solved our parking problem, but she also provided valuable resources during our stay, e.g., great ideas for seeing the City, ideas to also tour Salem, and she even quickly produced a Tide pen for the stain on the teenager’s favorite t-shirt. Boston was an amazing city to visit, and we will definitely return, but mainly because we want to experience the W Boston again! Read less

repeat.... do NOT stay on the Stuart St side of the hotel. make sure your room number is an odd number, the even numbered rooms are on Stuart... why do you ask??? well, if you love loud street noise like cars and motorcycles revving their engines unnecessarily or someone setting up a really loud sound system on the corner at the Panera Bread across the street and blasting music at 2:30am (which the police ignored despite the W Front Desk saying the police will deal with it), then ignore my warning and book a room on Stuart St and enjoy . If however you hate these things, then do NOT book on Stuart St. The W is my goto when I travel internationally; Seoul,  Taipei,  Suzhou are amazing.  I am always raving about the W to my wife. This W is not close to any of those. To be fair, all of the Ws I stayed at in the US do not compare. I was so disappointed that this W was the first W my wife got to experience.  The rooms are nothing like the rooms I have been to in Asia, this room was your typical Hilton or Marriott but with a more hip twist to it, okay, but nothing amazing.  The big killer was the noise. We had a room on the Stuart Street side of the hotel on the 11th floor. When we checked into the room you could here the street noise, so we asked to change rooms. We were told the hotel was booked (Sox game that night maybe caused this) and no rooms were available to switch to. We went to bed around 11:30ish and all good. Then 2:00am rolled around, the bars/clubs closed and the party hit the street. From what I could see from the window a DJ of sort set up on the corner of Stuart and Tremont and kept the party going. The music was so loud we heard it on the 11th floor. I called the front desk and they did not seem surprised and noted it was a Friday-Saturday night thing because of the bars closing up and not to worry the police are out and will shut it down. Well, the police did not shut it down.. it finally died out an hour later.. This must be a real party when college is in session and you have way more people in town. So the staff appeared to have known this was something that happens often. I have been a Bonvoy member for a long time, not some super diamond 100000 stay kind of guest, but at least someone who has some history with the W. This was the best they could do? No one thought, hey, maybe we get this customer a room away from Stuart Street? Or at least warned me about the upcoming street party, like I said they seem to know about it, and maybe tossed in some ear plugs or a white noise machine (like the hotels in NYC do)... anything at all??? Doing their best to deal with this is a 5 star hotel.  A Motel 8 I expect to not care enough to bother. A W I expect more effort and like I said maybe some ear plugs or even a white noise machine may have been helpful. What a disaster, our next day was miserable because everyone was tired. On the plus side once Sunday rolled around and enough people checked out, we were able to change rooms.... wow what a difference not being on Stuart made. it was super quite and way more enjoyable of a stay. a real shame no one at the front desk thought to deal with this when we checked in or even when we first reserved the room many many weeks prior. other than completely screwing this up the service we received was decent, staff was friendly, valet was the usual way over priced big city rate ($65/night). I am on the fence if I would stay here again or not. The only way I would is with a 100% guarantee that I am NOT in a room on Stuart Street. Read less

One of the best hotel stays I have enjoyed in my life. I flew out to Boston for school and picked the hotel for its location but was blown away by the staff. My sister and I interacted with mostly the afternoon staff, which included Cesar at the front desk and Paul at the door. They went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, and put in extra effort to help make our stay comfortable and easy. They helped recommend places to visit and even helped print things when I needed something for school. They also clearly took health and safety precautions seriously. We respected the fact that staff wore masks and had sanitization available. Boston offers lots of great hotels in Downton but I would come back to this one again and again. Not only is it in the perfect location to get anywhere in about 20 minutes but the effort of the staff really transformed our stay. We enjoyed ourselves so much at the W, we actually added more days to our reservation and pushed back our flights. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to see the city and be treated by the highest quality staff I have ever encountered in a hotel! We loved our time at the W! Read less
