Image of the Tripadvisor rating Nice hotel but thought it was pricy for what we received

We liked the hotel and had a nice stay. It was surprisingly clean for a beach hotel. The staff was very nice. The grounds were beautiful, great views of the ocean and we were able to walk to a lot of places. Pools were all gated so no beach goers could sneak in. Loved all the fire pits they had. Some you had to order food or drink in order to sit there. The lighting in the bathroom was fabulous but could have used a fan. It is a dog friendly hotel and people bring dogs of all sizes. You hear barking and they are at the pools etc. One lady took an umbrella just for her dog. The cons: -Only valet parking and it was expensive -Room was small for 4 people. -Resort fee was charged in addition to the high price to stay. The discounts they offered for it wasn't anything we used and they were on a tiny card and not really explained. I think we were supposed to get 2 waters each day but we didn't, I think you had to get them at the desk. -Housekeeping wasn't automatic. For those prices it would have been nice not to think about do we have enough towels each day, where to empty trash etc. It felt more like home than a vacation -My husband and daughter had breakfast one day and they said it was just ok. -Had trouble finding something for lunch. They weren't able to accommodate my one daughter's nut & sesame allergy. So we had to get the car from valet which didn't take too long just an added step, had to tip etc. in order to grab lunch while we were at the pool. As a note the Hyatt next door was excellent with food allergies! We were able to walk there and had breakfast and dinner there. _Toiletries were on the wall so hard to tell ingredients if you have a sensitivity to anything. My daughter's and I brought our own but my husband didn't and both bottles were labeled conditioner. One clearly looked like shampoo but he didn't believe me that they were probably just mislabeled. We’ve only been here a few hours and I’m already hating it. First, we checked in and arrived in our room to find only one washcloth. We’re a family of four. Called down twice and still haven’t received more. Did I mention we’ve been up 24 hours and are dying to shower? Our room is teeny tiny. The air conditioner is making an awful noise. … Read more

Thankfully I packed ear plugs. The hotel itself is nice, but dirty. Dirty carpets, dirty floors. And for the price we paid for four days there is no daily housekeeping. Stay elsewhere. Not accommodating whatsoever. Read less

For the cost of this hotel (5 star resort prices) the experience was severely subpar. The outer shell/appearance is great. As would be expected at a 5 star resort, there is no public parking option, only valet. And while the valet staff are friendly and quick, the driveway is a mess with sign of organization. There’s plenty of room for them to make separate lines for check-ins/outs, regular overnight guests, visitors - but instead you show up and if you’re lucky to get someone’s attention, you’ll just be asked to stop and constantly asked the same questions. The lobby is pretty, but the registration desk is tiny for this enormous resort. There’s no clear explanation by the front desk staff that your “Resort Amenities Fee” is a mandatory fee you’ll be charged to cover discounts on items you may not even use. Be sure to ask every day for your 2 water bottles, because you’re paying $33 for them. In the meantime, the rooms are basic Hilton rooms. Same as the ones in Poughkeepsie, NY - except that here they have crappy art declaring you’re in Huntington Beach. The bathrooms are not vented so be ready for foggy steam. Central air is 90s style. Room sizes and amenities are basic (no pens or pads of paper). The restaurants were a HUGE disappointment. I swear Days Inn has better continental breakfast and it’s complimentary there as opposed to >$30 here. I mean seriously, how can I be getting the same dry pastries, sterno chafed scrambled eggs, and silly omelette line at a $600/night hotel as I do at the $150/night? So your answer might be LOCATION? Sure it’s a cross PCH from the beloved Huntington Beach. But you still gotta cross the cross walk (no bridge like the Hyatt next door). And if you’ve got an Ocean View from a lower floor - you’re seeing a lot of PCH and parking lot before the beach. This is not like some European resort where you can walk out of your hotel right into the sand. And because of that, they’ve piped some sand into the pool areas so your kids can play and you can get sand all over you in case you missed that from your pool experience. This is no resort. We went to eat at Dock Bar and Boardwalk. Great food and ambiance. We loved our server Rachel who took care of us and our dog. She brought water for the dog and made great suggestions for food! Short rib rigatoni was our favorite. Grab a drink at the dock bar they have some cool drinks for the summer !

Elevator wait times were so bad we started taking the stairs. Carpet and paint is worn and dirty. Not what it used to be. Pool was anything but relaxing, seemed like they are catering to a rif raf clientele. They had a dj there both days we tried relaxing at pool, horrible! Loud rap-disco crap music blaring, couldn’t read or have a conversation, tried escaping by heading to room, nope, it was so loud on our balcony we couldn’t relax there either. I’ll just stop there….
