We stayed over in Stovepipe during the Perseid meteor shower in August 2024. The accommodation is fairly basic but was lovely. The village itself and general store and staff were the highlight for me. The staff inside the general store could not have been more helpful (i wish i could remember their names). The village itself and general store and staff were the highlight for me. The staff inside the general store could not have been more helpful (i wish i could remember their names). The gentleman (he lives in the village and used to work at the Grand Canyon) was the one that suggested we get up at 3am to watch the meteor shower and at may go down as one of the most incredible things we have seen as a family. Image of the Tripadvisor rating Refused refund 3 weeks after agreeing to one after complaint. No restaurant. Air con didn't work.

Booked the rooms months ago. Turned up today to find the restaurant is shut and only "limited food" options at the bar and no draft beer. It shuts at 8. The food consists of reheated pasta or a sandwich. The nearest other options are over 20 miles away. We've driven 8 hours to get here already. The air con is not up to scratch at all and the cold… Read more

The food consists of reheated pasta or a sandwich. The nearest other options are over 20 miles away. We've driven 8 hours to get here already. The air con is not up to scratch at all and the cold water is too hot to shower in. This is more like camping with a dodgy air conditioner hooked up to your car and completely unacceptable. The hotel have now denied a refund for our 2nd night. Despite this being agreed by Dillon at reception, we do not have "printed proof" because why would we? As such, beware as they will take your money without authorisation if they can. We stayed in the Sahara 2 years ago. It was over 100f. The water was cold, the air conditioning worked and there were decent food options. It seems Stovepipe Wells cannot achieve the standard of a small hotel in Morocco on the edge of the Sahara. The room overall was clean. Needed updating. TV remote did not work at all. Turned the TV on by using the controls on the TV. Only received ONE channel. All it had on the TV was ads. Decided to turn it off. Very boring evening. The air conditioning was not sufficient for the 117 degrees outside. Very overpriced for the accommodations. … Read more

Nothing fancy about our accommodations at Stovepipe Wells, but it was a clean and comfortable place to stay in a nice location away from Furnace Creek. We had a double bed and a single in our room, so there was plenty of space for the two of us. The bathroom was more than adequate. The swimming pool was open, but the weather didn't cooperate. The breakfast buffet at the restaurant next door was a real bargain, and definitely worth it. We would stay here again if we're back in this area. Read less
