The hotel

You couldn't stay any closer to Disneyland Resort California without being in Sleeping Beauty's castle! Right in the heart of the action, Disney's Grand Californian Hotel is the perfect base to explore all of the parks - you even have your own private entrance to Disney California Adventure Park. The hotel has an American Craftsman style that gives it a warm and cosy feel, especially when you're curled up by the fire with a drink in the Hearthstone Lounge at the end of an action packed day in the parks. If you're in the mood for a relaxing day, rent a poolside cabana and soak up the Californian sun, a server will be on hand to tend to all your food and drink needs. And when evening comes, pop across to Downtown Disney and catch a show or some live music, you'll be spoilt for choice.

The location of the hotel with entrances to DCA and downtown Disney cannot be beat and that is what you are paying for. We had neither terrible nor magical experiences. The room was tired, but that was to be expected from other reviews. The pool was very crowded and hard to find chairs. The breakfast buffet at Storytellers was one of our better trip meals. This hotel is very expensive, but we would stay again (1-2 nights only) for the convenience of the entry. Read less

This is our go-to place to stay. when we visit DL. Yes, it is expensive. Hopefully they will reinstitute the early Magic Morning access which is also a perk of this hotel. They usually have a character like Pluto strolling through the lobby. During Christmas, they have carolers singing and an elaborate gingerbread house in the lobby as well. It’s always fun to look for the hidden Mickeys in the hotel (check the bathroom wallpaper and the hallway carpets). And in the past there were staff members happy to trade DL pins with you. The hotel is clean, the interior is beautiful, and the easy access cannot be beat. This is the only hotel where stay when we visit DL. Read less

Read all the reviews and hoped for the best but they are right. Not worth the money at all. Getting in the park 30 min early is a plus but get in line at 6:45 or it won't matter bc the security is so slow. The pools were broken and closed at the heat of the day so don't let your kids know their is a water slide or you'll be set up for big tears.… Read more

We've stayed at Disneyland Hotel before and one of the main draw cards was the extra magic hour in the morning. Unfortunately due to Covid, this hadn't resumed for our stay. I believe it has now but is only half an hour. Anyway, coming from Australia, 2 nights was extremely expensive for us. It was priced highly anyway, but factoring in our poor dollar against the USD, was next-level expensive. That said, the foyer was lovely (although far too cold!). The rooms were good and spacious, but a long walk from the elevator. We had a standard view and as a result was a half view of Downtown Disney, but did actually have a fireworks view which was a nice surprise. We found that a lot of times the front desk was too busy (the queue was too long) to get assistance so we gave up. Same with trying the phone from our room. I did manage to get through early morning and late at night. When I rang about a late checkout, Disney were accommodating and granted it, for which we were extremely grateful. It was great to have a special entrance to DCA as well as fast tracked entry into Downtown Disney for our Disneyland day. The AC in our room was sub-par - I wondered if it was working at all. Usually I find rooms to be too cold, but this room was actually hot. The shop was quite small. We felt the pool area was small and crowded. Read less

We stayed at this hotel in July. The room was in bad condition. The bathroom was dirty. Hair left on the wall in a few spots. Called guest service-they didn’t seem to bother. The next day, hair was still there. The toilet was so loud when flushing down. Not so much Disney decorations in the room. Just way too expensive for such a bad and run down… Read more

Just way too expensive for such a bad and run down room, with poor amenities. Good location-that is one positive. Beautiful Lobby. We didn’t have early entrance for hotel guests at that period of stay so the benefit was even less. It’s not grand like its name. Read less
