The hotel

You couldn't stay any closer to Disneyland Resort California without being in Sleeping Beauty's castle! Right in the heart of the action, Disney's Grand Californian Hotel is the perfect base to explore all of the parks - you even have your own private entrance to Disney California Adventure Park. The hotel has an American Craftsman style that gives it a warm and cosy feel, especially when you're curled up by the fire with a drink in the Hearthstone Lounge at the end of an action packed day in the parks. If you're in the mood for a relaxing day, rent a poolside cabana and soak up the Californian sun, a server will be on hand to tend to all your food and drink needs. And when evening comes, pop across to Downtown Disney and catch a show or some live music, you'll be spoilt for choice.

Other than that, our room was clean and comfortable. The hotel is perfectly situated for park access. We are Disney World passholders, and only “wish” the mouse offered a discount out in Disneyland, especially for the resort expenses. The hotel staff was quick to attend to our needs. One tip - if you use valet for your car and need it early morning to exit, call ahead to have your car brought to the door. When we left for LAX with a rental car, there was only one valet on duty and he was busy. He could have used a helper. There were two issues with the gym - the Peleton bikes were great to see but not use because they were not calibrated. Also, bottled water is available for gym users but is quickly removed by other guests who take it for their use. The gym needs an attendant and maintenance. Read less

Who doesn’t love Disney!! This was our second stay at this hotel. Bell Services are super efficient and handle everything from the second you stop the car. Check in was swift but personable. We decided to stay another night and it was all handled swiftly. The rooms are basic but clean and we had a theme park view which was nice. The big winner… Read more

You are literally a few minutes walk from both parks and the restaurants and shops. It always feels very safe. Read less

This is the best located hotel if staying at Disney California. It’s hard to beat the walking distance to the downtown and the monorail that passes through the hotel. We did have breakfast in which the characters come out and say hi to you. That is a great addition to the experience as you get the opportunity to meet and greet without the crowd.

Fabulous stay at the Grand Californian! We had stayed years back but had never taken advantage of the many lovely amenities at the hotel. We decided to take a more relaxed approach to our disney vacation this year and not spend the entire day in the park. Staying at the Grand Californian was ideal for this. It was so nice being this close to the parks and to downtown disney. The direct entrance to Downtown Disney and to DCA was a dream allowing you to avoid the crazy crowds at other security entrance locations. We loved spending time at the pool and the luxury loungers are wonderful. We experienced excellent friendly service from the pool staff. Luckily, we were able to see the disneyland fireworks from our balcony! I would absolutely stay here again, especially for a more relaxed trip. The room was very comfortable and well laid out. The balcony was a very nice size as well. Read less

Love the classic California craftsman architecture and decor. But, more importantly, the staff at the Veranda on the 6th floor are more than accommodating. Our server/attendant Alex realized we were there celebrating my mother’s 90th birthday for the weekend. He pulled me aside and asked what her food preferences and restrictions were for a special dessert he wanted to have prepared for her. On her special day, sure enough, my mother was presented with a beautiful spread of Mickey Mouse chocolates and chocolate covered strawberries…even though it was his day off!!! Alex, Melissa and the bake shop went over the top to make my mom’s birthday as special as could possibly be. We will be back for her 91st. Thank you ALEX!!! Read less
