The hotel

With an A-list address in Westwood, bordering Beverly Hills, the Palomar’s a microcosm of all that’s great in LA: the laid-back poolside living; the celeb-worthy design details; the new trend of sustainable cooking. Here you don’t just visit LA, you live it. Its sense of style infuses every space, but nowhere more so than at the pool, where an al fresco lounge features comfy cushioned seating and a fireplace. Double Take serves up unfussy, market-inspired snacks, salads and entrées that shine with Southern California ingredients. Bookending each day, the complimentary morning refreshments and evening wine hour remind you this is the land of indulgence; while the free 24-hour gym’s wall of windows looks out onto Wilshire Boulevard, so you don’t miss any sightseeing.

First of all, this hotel is not in Beverly Hills. Don’t expect it to be. False advertising in my opinion. Call it what it is: Westwood. Secondly, and more importantly, the hotel rooms smell horrible. They gave us a tour of five different rooms on different floors and they all smelled extremely bad. It seems like a combination of old carpet mixed with an ancient HVAC system. They try to pump in air freshener to cover up the smell, but that only makes it worse. I felt like I was going to have an asthma attack. The lobby looks inviting and updated. But the rooms are in poor shape and more importantly - the air is not clean or fresh. And don’t plan on mitigating with an open window as they don’t open. I honestly can’t figure out how this hotel is getting such good reviews. We had to get out of there as fast as possible. There’s no way I could’ve slept a night in that hotel. Kimpton should’ve made it up to us but drop the ball on that as well. Gives me little faith in staying in another Kimpton hotel in the future. Read less

Upon entry of the hotel, all things matched my expectations for a Kimpton. The room was nice but it felt like an upgraded by decor 3 star hotel. The room layout and set up was similar to a basic hotel room and didn’t have all the amenities in the room I am used to when staying at a Kimpton. NOTHING WAS WRONG or BAD. The room was just ok and not what I expected. The game room and bar were awesome and so fun to relax in after the game. We had some special perks through our travel agency. At first it wasn’t provided and checkout but when we informed the staff, they immediately took care of it! It was a wonderful stay overall- parking is $48!!! FYI Read less

The trendy vibe and the loungy vibe lobby is attractive but once you get into the room, you’ll realize the amenities and the overall is far below the standard of what a boutique hotel should holds . Upon checking , the morning staff at the counter reminds me of the bouncer or security at the night club entrance , checking my ID and ask me to provide documents with no greeting no facial expressions. It’s okey it could be a long overnight shift . I was drifted away by the ambiance already . Checkin into the room , the bathroom bathtub is so rundown with a dent with brown stains in it ! And the mirror frame is cracking all around the edges. It’s so visible can’t help staring at it while I put on makeups . The room is very basic , without kettle or fridge , no free bottle of water in the room , but they charge extra $29 for room amenities….! The Ac unit is extremely loud as it keep going on and off at night , and it’s right by the bed side . I would say this hotel is good for meeting friends at lobby area , not for people seeking comfort and quality Read less
