Very underrated hotel. I would not recommend not return. The staff was very uninterested in the guests, no ambiance whatsoever and poor setup and nothing to offer your guests.

The Portofino Hotel claims to be a posh, elegant experience, however in truth, outside of a beautiful lobby, it is one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed at. The rooms are falling apart, as marked by chipping granite that got lodged in my heel, and a shower that leaked water into the wall behind. The "resort fee" is complete robbery, with a fitness center smaller than a bathroom and less equipped than most homes, wifi that couldnt be slower if you asked it to, and a "Business Center" that was actually a single computer monitor mounted to a wall in the lobby hallway—forcing you to take all your calls in the lobby itself with their terrible wifi. And on top of all this, they charge a premium for the rooms, and a few on top for the basic amenities offered better by most 3-star hotels in America. Finally, the location is fine, however a bit in a food desert, and there's no where near to park forcing you to abide their insane valet or self park rates. If you're looking for a nice place to stay while soaking up the CA atmosphere, do be bamboozled by the location or makeup on this garbage hotel. Look elsewhere for cheaper. Read less

$7 dollar water to make coffee in your room. Brown water coming from faucet. Non-working telephone. So many other issues. They nickel and dime you for everything.

The vibe is very California, overlooking a harbor on k r side and water on the other. The rooms are a bit outdated, but clean and spacious, ours had a little balcony. The pool is a joke. Do not plan to use this pool for relaxing, sitting out. It’s tiny and tucked away and just not attractive. I travel extensively for business and for pleasure- domestically and internationally. I have never, ever, stayed at a hotel that doesn’t provide free coffee in the morning. Or even paid coffee. There is a restaurant adjacent to, but not owned by, the hotel, and it’s pretty good. You have to walk there and pay for coffee if you don’t want to get into your car to get coffee in the morning. The hotel does offer free coffee on Sat and Sun (so they know how to!) but when I was visiting, they had run out, and sent us to the restaurant. Hotel promotions highlight features like slippers and soaps/shampoos, but honestly, how can the most basic morning ritual- coffee- be absent? Read less

Enjoyable relaxing stay in beautiful surroundings. The room was very nice and the bed was super comfortable. The pool was warm, the Jacuzzi was hot, and both were very clean. We also enjoyed the restaurant. Great food and coffee!
