Sheraton Gateway Hotel Los Angeles Airport

I was upgraded to a suite which was a nice gesture. However: 1) room and furniture felt really tired and outdated 2) the phone in my room did not work when I tried to call front desk 3) glass shower door kept sliding open resulting in a puddle on the bathroom floor each time I showered 4) could not sign onto internet as Marriott internet website refused to recognize that I was a guest at the hotel (the front desk did provide a login code after I called from my cell phone) 5) the door on the refrigerator was broken and would not stay shut, effectively rendering it useless. The only plus to the room was a fun view of the LAX runways. When I noted these issues to the front desk at check out, instead of thanking me for bringing them to their attention, I was scolded for not reporting them while I was in the room. When I mentioned that housekeeping should have, at minimum, reported the broken fridge door and malfunctioning shower door, I was told that wasn’t housekeeping’s responsibility, it was engineering’s problem. No wonder everything is broken if housekeeping never bothers to notify engineering because it’s not their job. Dining choices for lunch or dinner are minimal. There’s one pricey sports bar type restaurant with an uninspiring menu - think $25 burger - and there are hardly any other options within walking distance. Based on the slew of bad reviews for the restaurant, I opted for door dash. To get to the pool, you have to walk through the restaurant meaning that hordes of people in bare feet and wet bathing suits are traipsing through the dining area where people are eating. The Sheraton lounge is a joke. Besides breakfast, the only offerings were few pieces of fruit and some snack mix. They didn’t even bother to keep the fridge stocked with soft drinks and water. I stayed here because I had an early morning flight from LAX and I could get a government rate. I definitely would not come back by choice and it’s definitely not a 4 star hotel as their website claims. I had just come from the Marriott Beverly Hills, an amazing property, so this Sheraton just seemed shockingly bad. Read less

Atmosphere of room was good but everything else was trash. Front desk was lacking hospitality and empathy. The pool area was disgusting concreate needs to be power cleaned and pool was dirty needed to be cleaned and jacuzzi was closed during stay because a homeless man decided to take a bath and front desk conveniently stated it was closed due to a mechanical error that occurred during the same time during the bath incident. They do nothing for celebrations I asked not even a letter and they stated no. Lowest Sheraton I’ve ever been too. And when asked for compensation because jacuzzi was closed during our stay not before we were told to call a number that led to voicemail. Very upset would never come back. Also elevators are slow as hell!!! The outside of hotel is super dirty they need the walls and windows cleaned as well. Read less

After a long night I had of travelling, spending the day at the hospital, and struggling to find a place to stay, I booked at this hotel and Rosie at the front desk is absolutely amazing! She was such a breath of fresh air after a rough night and was so kind and accommodating! Thanks to her, I will definitely be coming back if I ever need to stay in that part of LA again! Read less
