Loved the location, walking distance to Fisherman's Wharf and many shops, wine tasting rooms, and restaurants. Even walkable to Trader Joe's! Check-in was seamless, I'm a travel agent and had early check-in privileges through the Luminous program. We received a welcome amenity of a bottle of white wine and charcuterie platter with a sweet note from the manager. Valet parking was expensive but we parked an easy block away for $24/day. The staff was very friendly and helpful and we even enjoyed complimentary a breakfast buffet for two with the Luminous perks. Just a few minor complaints from us. I did not love the dark decor of the modern rooms, especially the bathroom sink area. The lighting was atrocious and I had to relocate the portable magnifying mirror near the window to apply makeup each day. And, when taking a shower in the late afternoon, it took FOREVER for the water to warm up. I almost gave up shivering in the shower until it finally warmed after 5-7 minutes. The major complaint, which was immediately rectified, was that the front desk agent inadvertently gave a new guest our room number 515, instead of 415, and the housekeeping staff opened our door for them, completely startling us. I was impressed at the level of customer service at the Monterey Marriott. I would consider staying here again if ever in the area. Read less

Staff was great, they were able to find us a room at the last minute that would accommodate a roll away (3 women that didn't want to share beds). The roll away was very comfortable. I did park up the street at the public parking garage instead of valet, cheaper and easy.

In addition we were told about restaurants that were recommended. We went to a seafood restaurant that was not pricey and the food was great. We did have an emergency as the lights went out for about 45 minutes. It took a little time for the emergency lights to come on. The hotel may wish to review emergency training for the staff. Spend the extra money and get a room with an ocean view. It is worth it. Check out the boardwalk. Interesting when telling us about the restaurants never mentioned the hotel restaurant. Being an experienced traveler I have to assume the desk must revive complaints about it. Overall a wonderful hotel and friendly staff. Over Read less

My wife and I visited Monterey last weekend and stayed here. The room was very cute and modern, and the staff was extremely courteous, especially Randi at the front desk. Great location for local dining and sight seeing. We especially enjoyed the nearby english pubs and hipster coffee shops.
