First time staying here in about 20 years. Location is the best in town. Valet is great. Rooms are recently redone. Staff takes great care of Bonvoy Elite. Breakfast was much better than normal Marriott. Would stay again!

As a marriott Bonvoy member. Everything went great. We had gotten upgraded and although we arrived early (around noon), our room was ready for us to get checked into. Emily was a great help and getting us settled and went above and beyond to make us feel valued. Valet was also great and timely when bringing our vehicle up. I didn’t get a chance to… Read more

That title from the classic 1966 Clint Eastwood movie sums up our experience here. There was a lot of good, including comfortable mattresses, spacious and well appointed room, good temperature control, friendly and welcoming staff, and efficient valet parking. Perhaps best of all was the superb location at the junction between the commercial downtown and the scenic, touristy harbor area. The bad consisted of two significant annoyances. One was the lighting, which was so dim and atmospheric that it was totally impossible read in bed. That is, the lighting for the beds was over the shelf between them, and had dim bulbs for general low level room illumination but not directionally aimed for use as reading lights. As a result, it was too dark for me to read the Sunday Times or any other printed material in bed. The other bad had to do with the refrigerator. Upon opening the fridge the first morning, everything was warm. Inspection of the interior revealed that it was set to a setting that automatically turned off the appliance for 8 hours every night. Who expects a refrigerator to turn off at night? Why would Marriott inflict us with that experience? The ugly applies equally to the Courtyard in San Francisco where we stayed the previous week. It was the shower/tub that I hated hated HATED! It is made 100% for taking a bath and 0% for taking a shower. That is because the bottom is curved like the bottom of a canoe. There is no flat surface to stand on. Making things worse is the fact that there is only one grab bar and that is affixed to the front wall beneath the shower head. So whenever I turned around to wash my back or my rear end, I was desperately trying to balance myself on a canoe bottom with nothing to grab on to. When I finished and finally made it to the flat bathroom floor it was with immense relief that the ordeal was over for the day. Read less

We loved our stay at this great Marriott location. Our room was comfortable and clean. The location allowed us to walk to all the restaurants and shopping at Cannery Row. The parking was easy. We loved it.

Stayed overnight while attending the Monterey Jazz Festival. Classic old school Marriott with everything you would expect. Nice big lobby, restaurant and bar adjacent. Rooms are spacious, comfortable and clean. Great bed for sleep. Close to plenty of downtown restaurants, activity vendors and walking distance to the Marina. Starbucks just around the corner. Parking is valet only and if that’s a concern, there is apparently a downtown parking within walking distance. Finally, courteous and efficient staff. Read less
