Lovely hotel with an old fashioned feel. Be careful booking a partial sea view room though. We were basically stuck in a little gap with hotel rooms on one side and a concrete wall on the other!! I wouldn’t say this was worth the money. When I raised this issue with reception - the man just said I should’ve booked a full sea view room. Lovely,… Read more

My wife and I just returned from our vacation and we cannot stop talking about how much we loved our stay at the Monterey Plaza Hotel and Spa. Our room with the view of the ocean was amazing. The jacuzzi on the 5th floor with views of the ocean, the waves crashing on the beach through the night providing the best white noise, the piano player in the lobby, and the perfect location to access all of Cannery Row were all perfect. Everyone was so nice and warm as well, starting with the valet! We will definitely be back and already looking forward to it! Read less

Booked the Plaza for our anniversary and had a lovely stay. The staff were exceptional, room service was delicious, and its location right on the ocean was the perfect spot anniversary. We hopped on the free Monterey Trolley to explore Cannery Row a short ride away and walked to a nearby beach. Overall great stay!

I originally came here with my girlfriends in April of 2023 and was very impressed by the customer service. So in July 2024 I dragged my family and my infant son to this hotel for a family vacation hoping for the same kind of customer service. The rooms are OKAY, the carpet is very dirty and it should be cleaned or removed at this point. As soon as we arrived we were greeted poorly by the front desk. When we made it to the room, one of the rooms bed sheets weren’t even clean. When I called the hotel front desk, the guy kept going on about he can’t move our room. Now we have to take my mom and she if she’s been exposed to mold. Since I have an infant, I am extremely worried about the health of my baby. The second room smelled like mold and dust without proper ventilation because the AC was not working. My mother ended up feeling sick all night bc of it until the very last night they FINALLY decided to move us. I wouldn’t waste my hard earned money on this hotel. What a difference in service from 2023. The agents don’t understand the basics of customer service. The managers are apologetic about how they talk to customers but that’s not my problem. Read less

Blamed it on their system overriding my credit card number. That makes no sense.. since I was called during the check out process and verified with the front desk about my cc info. I am tied up with my daughter's wedding for a few hours and get 7 missed calls from the Hotel and my aunts (guests) I call the hotel and talk to the supervisor.. he needs to confirm/ collect my credit card. Are you serious??? I ask.. what can be done to re-establish my confidence to use the hotel again... and his response.." Well.. if you send me your email.. I'll send you a receipt. Otherwise.. nothing." 5 Star Hotel??? So uncomfortable.. inconvenient.. and absolutely unprofessional. Read less
