If you like the idea of gazing over the Pacific Ocean, perhaps sipping your morning latte or feasting upon delicious seafood, you’ll be impressed by the Monterey Plaza Hotel and Spa. Set along Monterey Bay, it's a real treat to come back to after a day out and about. Pamper yourself at the rooftop spa — a massage or dip in the whirlpool will help to soak away any niggles. If you’re travelling with the family, you’ll especially like chilling out at The Terrace, a cosy sundeck with comfy loungers and hot tubs. Or, as you’re on Cannery Row, maybe you'll fancy heading out for a stroll. There are plenty of attractions nearby, including Monterey Bay Aquarium, and the golfers amongst you will relish the nearby championship courses.

Monterey Plaza Hotel and Spa is one of the hotels I’ve returned to repeatedly over the years. Although there are many different hotels worldwide with gorgeous scenery and delicious food nearby, impeccable service is what brings me back. Matthew Bartle, the front desk manager, was able to help me with two requests today, showing patience and ingenuity (there were some initial tech hiccups), all with great humor and a smile. He is a stellar asset to the hotel and added to my high impression of Monterey Plaza. I absolutely recommend staying here - and sea otters, sea lions, and stunning views also await!

Great stay

We had a great stay here. Service was good, the rooms are nice and clean, and the ocean views are amazing. A big highlight is seeing otters, harbor seals, and sea lions right from your room (although the balcony is tiny!).

If you’re in Monterey this is the place to stay. Great location, amazing customer service, rooftop jacuzzis, wonderful restaurants and on and on. We go to Monterey every year for a couple weeks. This is the first but not last time we will stay here.

The bad news was that our window was under the smoking area, and with it open, we received lots of secondhand smoke. Also, we need to keep it closed because of the recent invasion of seals on the nearby beach that barked 24/7.

Just well done.
You really can't beat the location and the service was great. I was there for business (I know!) and the hotel just has that welcoming and relaxing vibe from the moment the valet opens your car door to greet you. The lobby and public spaces are right on the ocean and while I was there, the seals did a take-over of San Carlos Beach next door which was phenomenal. Seals swimming and barking and just being seals, although
I only saw a couple of sea otters while I was there.
After a walk along the ocean on the Monterey Trail to Lover's Point, I had some yummy mussels at Schooners and Sully took care of me with some outstanding service. Windows open in my room, the sound of the ocean and a - briefly - foggy morning made a perfect sleep and stay. And I love the wireless charger on the nightstand - it's the little things.
