Meritage Resort and Spa

Napa, Napa Valley Wine Region

Virgin rating

The hotel

You know you’ve reached wine country when you arrive at Meritage Resort & Spa. On the threshold of Napa Valley, its design may be Tuscan-inspired, but its soul is pure Napa, with views of a grapevine-covered slope as you swim, hiking (or strolling) trails through nine acres of vineyards, an underground tasting room, and wine served at every turn. But it’s also a place that recognises exceptional wine should be paired with life’s other luxuries: separate adult and family pools, al fresco fireplaces and whirlpools, lazy Sunday brunches, and wining and dining venues like award-winning Siena, the Crush bowling lounge, a café-come-gelateria, and a luxury wine bar. But it’s the Estate Cave that promises the most indulgence; 40 ft underground, it hosts a wine tasting room and Spa Terra’s steam grottos and soaking pools.

Expect not to have your room cleaned for a few days, no ice machine in the hotel so you have to go get it yourself because staff didn't answer the phone. It is a shame because the resort is very nice, but they were VERY understaffed

Long queue to check in with only one receptionist; around one hour to find my booking had been messed up. No water in the rooms made worse by terrible room service (expensive as well). It’s two hotels with there names and a mess. Whoever is in charge of integrating these properties into one should be fired. Valet parking was a joke (couldn’t get my car due to valet being closed). They snuck “rate adjustment charges’ on the folio and completely ignored the rates on my confirmed reservation. Shameful. I called three times and got… Read more

This was such a great place to stay. The staff were friendly, the rooms were clean & comfortable & the grounds were beautiful. It’s pretty central for stores/places to eat. We stayed here as we had a wine tour in Napa; would definitely stay here again!
