Meritage Resort and Spa

Napa, Napa Valley Wine Region

Virgin rating

The hotel

You know you’ve reached wine country when you arrive at Meritage Resort & Spa. On the threshold of Napa Valley, its design may be Tuscan-inspired, but its soul is pure Napa, with views of a grapevine-covered slope as you swim, hiking (or strolling) trails through nine acres of vineyards, an underground tasting room, and wine served at every turn. But it’s also a place that recognises exceptional wine should be paired with life’s other luxuries: separate adult and family pools, al fresco fireplaces and whirlpools, lazy Sunday brunches, and wining and dining venues like award-winning Siena, the Crush bowling lounge, a café-come-gelateria, and a luxury wine bar. But it’s the Estate Cave that promises the most indulgence; 40 ft underground, it hosts a wine tasting room and Spa Terra’s steam grottos and soaking pools.

Checking in was a breeze and welcomed by a free champagne since we are celebrating our anniversary so nice touch. We went up to our room and looked at the view right away since we chose vineyard king view but our main view is the pool and and can just see the vineyard on the side a bit but no biggie. Went to the bathroom and found trash on the trash bin and a used towel in the counter. Ofcourse called reception and asked if our room was cleaned. Reid/Reed front desk/reception placed me on hold several times and told me to pick up the towel and also grab the trah bin and put it outside of our room so that housekeeping could pick that up instead. Is that a good way to provide assistance and to make the guest feel important? Asking a guest to touch a used towel and a trash bin with a strangers trash isn’t good customer service. I told Reed/Reid this isn’t starting well for us and we’re unhappy of the way he is handling our concern.Rosemary the head of house keeping i think, went to our room and asked if we need the room to still be cleaned. We also mentioned the incident that happened with Reid, she apologized in his behalf and offered us a bottle of wine for the inconvenience. We’re also given some consumable credits so that made us feel a little bit better but this establishment needs to make sure their receptionists knows to handle these kind of concerns which in ky opinion is very simple. The receptionist should just have offered housekeeping to check our room and get those things we mentioned instead of us taking care of it. The GM need to educate their staff better to avoid instances like this from escalating. Read less

Service leaves a lot to be desired. 1) the Grand Reserve lobby was closed at 5:30pm on a Saturday. On a Saturday! During prime check in time! Had to check in across the street at the main hotel and wait in a long, slow line. 2) before checking out, I called for ice so I could keep my breast milk cold on the drive. Ice never came so I called a… Read more

Had to check in across the street at the main hotel and wait in a long, slow line. 2) before checking out, I called for ice so I could keep my breast milk cold on the drive. Ice never came so I called a second time. 45mins later and still no ice so we had to leave. I would have been happy to get my own ice but they said the bellhop had to bring it. Needless to say, we won't be returning. Read less

Stayed here for a girls weekend after visiting multiple times for the on-site amenities. Unfortunately, the customer service (and language barrier) was felt in every aspect of our trip. Big let down after enjoying the previous times we’ve visited the resort for a day trip.

Property and amenities are great; however, checking out needs improvement. Our final bill included items we did not order and upon mentioning the extra items the front desk personnel argued with us and kept saying that "that's what we ordered". There was a $200 "in-room dining charge" for items we never ordered nor received. Additionally, we were charged for an upgraded balcony room that we didn't even stay in. Instead of apologizing for the inconvenience and taking off the charges, she argued with us. In the end, she did take off the extra items WE DID NOT RECEIVE; however, it was such a hassle. Beautiful property, nice accommodations, but please CHECK YOUR BILL! Read less

Our first time staying here with friends that have stayed here countless times. Natalie at the front desk was awesome in checking us in explaining everything and greeting us with bubbles. At the pool Anthony was amazing. He was always there when we needed something and took great care of us
