Hyatt Regency Indian Wells Resort & Spa

Palm Springs, California

Virgin rating

The hotel

An oasis in the desert, you’ll find a huge range of things to keep you busy among the Hyatt Regency's 45-acres of perfectly manicured gardens. There’s seven different pools to cool off in, as well as a spa for a little more indulgence. If you’re a golfer, pick from two courses – and a pro can help iron out any kinks in your swing. Travelling with young ones? There are some great kids activities going on, as well as a family pool with a water slide. Maybe something more tranquil? The adults-only pool may be more your style – and maybe a cocktail by the pool at sunset followed by a tender steak.

Pros: amazing pools with different temps, splash pad, lazy river, slides. So many places for kids to play. Poolside and restaurant service was really great. Ruben in valet was so friendly and his smile and hospitality really set the tone for our mini vacay. We had a double bed room with access to the pool and small patio. It had one king and one queen bed which was great and unexpected. Cons: when we checked in and made our way to the room, we noticed the carpet was wet so we thought how nice they actually wash their hallway carpets. The next day it was worse and it started to smell like mildew. We were not notified of a broken pipe at any point on the day of the arrival or the following day. We then started smelling some tropical scent that became increasingly overwhelming and I developed an allergic reaction from smelling it. We couldn’t get out of the room fast enough. At that point I’ve had enough and we went to the front desk to find out when it was going to be over. My toddler actually ran out of the room barefoot and ran on the nasty wet carpet. Thankfully their bathrooms are very nice and clean so I could wash her up easily. Front desk employees were very nice and apologetic and offered to move us to another room. We were checking out the next morning so it just felt like too much. We were reassured that it shouldn’t be much longer smelling so strongly. There was also construction going on right outside our room and it made it impossible for my toddler to nap with 2 sound machines on. We were also not notified of that on arrival. Considering that there’s so much to do at the resort, we were able to avoid staying in the room but that somewhat defeats the purpose of vacation. The most upsetting thing is that no one mentioned that there was a scheduler construction work or a problem with a pipe upon our arrival even though it has already happened and “wet carpet” signs were placed in that hallway. We will definitely be back but I’ll be sure to ask a lot more questions before we get assigned a room. Read less

We dined in the hotel with the pool side options. Food was 7/10, I recommend if given the opportunity to go out and buy food. The burgers were you typical frozen Pattie’s. The quesadillas were more freshly made. We also tried they’re chicken fingers and pizza that were so so. Not the best but not the worse. The pool staff was also really great! Read less

This was a last minute trip but a fun getaway. The kids loved the pool and slides, and we loved that they loved it. It was VERY HOT so definitely splurge on the cabana. While the property itself was great - the food was not as enjoyable as we had heard it was, so that was a bit off, but nothing that would stop us from returning. Overall an… Read more

We were upgraded to a larger room and able to check in an hour earlier which was nice since I was traveling with my daughter and her 2 and 3 year old. The children's slide was a hit along with the lazy river. The staff went above and beyond when my grand-daughter fell and hurt her knee. Not only did they bring colored bandaides but also a free Dip… Read more

We had to carry around 4 bracelets (to get into the room and to get into the pool), a towel card to get towels at the pool, and a parking card to get in and out of the parking lot. Would be nice to just get one card for all of these things. - Used q tips were on the balcony of our room. - Some non-functional lighting in the room. - Beware: this Hyatt is part hotel and part amusement park. The pool is nice, but there are a lot of folks with day passes taking advantage of the amenities too. This makes the pool area especially crowded and the pool water quite murky and unclean. It makes for a suboptimal experience for the actual hotel guests. - 4 towel limit for the pool. Given that the pool side chairs are dirty and often covered in bird feces, each person needs at least 2 towels to cover the chairs. Another towel to dry off would be nice too. I would argue that a family of 4 should get access to 12 towels. A towel limit in general is silliness. - No poolside wait service. - there need to be more umbrellas given the number of chairs at the pool. I calculated that there are roughly 8-10 chairs per umbrella. - Definitely do not recommend getting a massage at the spa. The massage was basically nothing more than a skin rubbing. - food was so-so. We decided to just eat dinner outside the hotel most nights. Read less
