The hotel

Bringing that island feel to the Californian desert city, Margaritaville Resort Palm Springs is the first of the famous chain on the West Coast so you can enjoy the relaxed and colourful vibe as part of your US road trip, or for a chance to chill out by the pool with a cocktail in hand. With a calendar of activities including poolside games, movie nights and live DJ’s, this large resort caters for all ages. There’s two pools to relax by, or visit the spa for an array of treatments that will have you feeling like you’re on a secluded island somewhere! You’re just moments from the shopping and golf that Palm Springs is famous for, and parking is included in the resort fee. You don’t need to leave the resort really though – you’re spoilt for choice when it comes to food. Enjoy a steak at JWB Grill, quasedillas by the pool, or grab a takeaway pizza and enjoy it on your balcony when you book a Deluxe Room. If you’ve visited a Margaritaville before you’ll know they’re famous for the ‘5 o’clock somewhere’ bar and this place is no different. It’s the staple of any Margaritaville experience.

Image of the Tripadvisor rating Good Hotel but Not Much Character

A decent hotel but there's nothing of Jimmy Buffet in the place except for a comically giant flip-flop shoe in the lobby. No pictures of Buffet, no artefacts, no Buffet music. No Caribbean decor, no Buffet vibe or style. Take away the flip-flop and it could be any hotel anywhere. Need better signage; hard to find your way around. Good pool but… Read more

Good pool but dark at night: need uplights on all palm trees, not just two. Place was clean, staff friendly but see no reason to return. Read less

The positives: It is pet-friendly (but $25/night pet fee). The room is clean and comfortable. The bedding is nice. The towels are luxurious. There is a refrigerator but no microwave. (They make up for the lower room price with food and drink sales.) There is a Keurig coffee maker, but only two paper cups for coffee. No other plastic cups for cold drinks. The staff is very professional. The bar manager, in particular, is a stand-out. Not so good: The way the property is laid out -- like spokes on a wheel --makes parking a challenge, unless you have the resources to pay for Valet parking each time. The worst instance was when we had to park in front of the Conference Center, at least 100 yards to the door of our Building 8. And then there is the steep flight of stairs to the 2nd floor!. There is only one elevator in the main building, it doesn't connect to the other buildings, so there were no trolleys for transporting luggage. So on arrival, I must have made the trip from the parking lot, up the stairs to the far end of the hall, and back again half a dozen times! Exhausting. So for people < 40 in good physical condition, you may find this venue to your liking. People in their 60s, 70s may want to consider another more traditional property. Read less

The hotel was nice, clean, great service. The location was easy to access. Nothing was more of a delight than the experience we had at the bar. Manny, the bartender had everyone in good moods and I will literally come back to stay just to grab some drinks from him.

Great experience - friendly staff, good location and rooms are very comfortable. Food is good despite the price. Christian front the pool bar provided great service! Both pool areas are fun - definitely will come back whenever we are in Palm Springs.
