The hotel

Combining 20th century grace with 21st century technology, the Citizen Hotel offers guests a luxurious urban retreat in to the heart of downtown Sacramento. Although there are plenty of restaurants in the immediate vicinity, the hotel’s own Grange Restaurant is highly recommended, utilising local cuisine to produce a superb range of dishes. There’s also Scandal, one of the city’s finest bars with culinary cocktails to tempt you and Californian-inspired wines, ports and liqueurs.

Long and stressful drive here but was welcomed by Sukari Brown, the valet attendant, who was so calm, kind, and helpful. Check in staff were good. Small but beautifully appointed room. Sink and mirror were not cleaned from previous tenant. Real wine glasses in the room are a nice touch. Road noise was VERY loud.

Great hotel was there on a business trip. Hotel has a good restaurant/bar. As with most autograph hotels rooms can be more unique. There are some bars/restaurant options that are walkable around you. Keep a good head when walking around as there are a lot of homeless (not the hotels fault but still worth mentioning.

Let me just start by saying I don't love old hotels. The rooms are just too small for a couple. And I had a barely warm shower on Sunday morning. And like every city, the homeless are sad and the police presence as we walked to Frank Fat's for an excellent Chinese dinner was concerning. Let me just start by saying I don't love old hotels. The rooms are just too small for a couple. And I had a barely warm shower on Sunday morning. And like every city, the homeless are sad and the police presence as we walked to Frank Fat's for an excellent Chinese dinner was concerning. But the staff more than made up for the small room and inconveniences with their 5 star friendliness and helpfulness. Elif was the first contact we had and she was amazing. Very kind and helpful, dealing with a small issue we had with our reservation. I didn't get the name of her co-worker, but she gave us a fun vintage political cartoon poster for our troubles. My husband loves it. Next came the lovely man who loaned me an iphone charger when I discovered I'd forgotten mine. The catering staff at the wedding we attended was top notch. All in all a very pleasant experience. If we find ourselves in Sacramento again we would definitely stay here because of the people. Read less

Christine was so Uber friendly and fantastic service. Fabulous cocktails and happy hour menu. Hard to find in Sac!! We will be back to see her and have fabulous cocktails again. I work for SGWS I’m out a lot and rarely have this friendly and efficient service.
