The hotel

A friendly, family-run property in the Mission Valley area of San Diego, the Handlery Hotel is a short walk to the Fashion Valley Mall where you'll find lots of popular shops and restaurants. When you're not out exploring San Diego, the pool area, in a central courtyard, is a lovely place to relax. Where is it

Located 2 miles from Old Town, and 5 miles from both Ocean Beach and the San Diego Zoo. A short walk to Fashion Valley Mall, the city's top shopping centre, with shops, restaurants and cinemas, together with Red Trolley and bus stops.

Lovely location, clean rooms, lovely pool area and nice food. Big shout out to Pamela on reception who gave great information on trips and public transport. She was very helpful and friendly with all our requests. Highly recommend the hotel and location.

Do not stay here, you will be disappointed and get bitten by bed bugs. Refused to stay in this hotel due to how unhealthy it was for the family. Found both live and dead bed bugs with stained mattresses. Staff seemed to already know of the outbreak of bed bugs in the hotel. Smelt stale throughout the buildings and dirty. Still waiting on refund if approved by 3rd party booking company, and will likely have to continue to hassle hotel to get my money back. Only positive thing I can say about this hotel is that the area is good, but many other hotel options in the area. Hope this helps future travellers. Read less

We are locals and only live 12 miles from this conveniently located Mission Valley Hotel. The facilities and accommodations and event staff met our expectations for our 50th High School Reunion. The hotel is older and the rooms have been remodeled with new decor. The king size bed was comfortable and the room contained a mini frig in one of the night stands and in room coffee. On a funny note if you sit o. The toilet you can’t close the door, so make certain you close the door first. Our room was basic, but we did observe other rooms are corner suites, and have walk out patios or balcony’s. So if you want to have a little extra room you might request me of these rooms. Read less

Hotel is dated, hard to maneuver around the property, and has no elevators. Quality of food in the restaurant was awful. They charge $24/day for parking even though the lot was always less than half full. They have you captive and use it as a money grab.
