The hotel is in a great location, right in the Gas Lamp District, two blocks from the baseball stadium, and a short walk to the convention center and waterfront. It felt to me like it was an old hotel that had been completely updated recently. Everything in the lobby and related areas felt super modern. The rooms felt classic (like an old hotel) but with modern furnishing and decorations. Our room was small, but it was very nice. The room had all you would need, including a refrigerator. The bed was comfortable. The soft chair was comfortable. The safe was useful. The bathroom felt like it had been recently renovated. The pool is by a restaurant/bar on the 4th floor. It definitely seemed aimed at adults, but kids were there, too. There was even a cornhole court next to the pool, and towels were plentiful and accessible. You have to pay for parking (it's valet), but the service was excellent. We were allowed to store our bags and leave the car at the hotel for a few hours after we checked out. Really, the only negative experience I had with the hotel was that they seemed to be having problems with the key cards. The first two they gave us did not work, and only one of the two replacements worked. I was told they were aware of a problem with a lot of the keys that day, so, presumably, this was not a common occurrence. When booking, be aware of the resort fee, as well as the shifting prices from day to day (at least for me). I thought I was booking a lower rate than I did (not the hotel's fault: the higher rate was right in my confirmation, I just didn't see that it had gone up a significant amount from when I had originally checked a day or two before). All in all, we were very happy with this hotel and would be happy to stay there again. Read less

Staff is great, location is fantastic for Padres games, convention center and for some great food. Have stayed multiple times and will do in the future. The pool and rooftop bar are pretty great as well.

We took the Coaster from Encinitas to downtown San Diego for a two night stay. We wanted something walkable to Petco Park and nightlife. Location was absolutely perfect!! Fabulous service and great amenities. Hotel was clean and comfortable. We will definitely be coming back.

The location is perfect for seeing a Padres game or hanging out in the Gaslamp District. The rooms are a nice size. My only knock would be that the bathrooms are small. The pool area has a fun party vibe. There is music and cornhole and lots of room to hang out. The staff were friendly and very accommodating.
