This resort could be great, amazing and fantastic. It could be. It has elements of top-class resorts. Micah at the front desk is wonderful. So is Jeffrey the bellhop. The staff in the gift shop, banquet crew, technicians who came to our room to fix the air conditioner were all great. Jeffrey and Micah, in particular shine. But other staff make me want to never return. They just don't get it. They don't care. A little rain can make you miss seeing the sun shine. The good: Our room was spotless. The maids are wonderful. The bad: The care and upkeep of the buildings could use some love, though. There is debris on the roofs, and many of the tiles are broken. There was a used Q-tip on the sidewalk that was there for days. How many employees walked by it and never picked it up? I want this resort to be spectacular, because it could be with just a little love and attention. But if you go here, expect a decent hotel, with some nice features and people, but balanced by just as many disappointments. Also: The hotel has a local membership program. On weekends, the pool area is packed. Just be aware the oasis-like, calm photos of the pool area are probably not what you will find on weekends. Read less

This place was a treasure box location full of gems like Katie, Isabella S., Ang T., Pilar, and a host of others whose names I unfortunately didn't catch. Every staff encounter was helpful and enjoyable from housekeeping, to the gift shop and coffee shop, to the restaurants, and especially all the folks at the front desk and concierge desk. Special kudos, also, to Summer and Matthew in the executive office for the attention to my arrangement requests. I appreciate the time and thoughtfulness you put forth to respond to my emails and follow through on my requests. I enjoyed a newly renovated suite with 2 adult children, and our family experience created memories we will cherish forever. From pool lounging with adult beverages to making s'mores like giggly children at sunset, having a staycation in our own hometown was invaluable. Our suite was exceptionally clean. The beds were so comfortable. And though it sounds weird, even the bathroom was inviting--clean, spacious, upgraded and well lit. It was nice to count on the amenities provided in both the bathroom and the sleeping area. If I had a complaint, it would be that the robes were not for sale. They were sooo comfy! My adult kids joked that they wanted to keep them so I went on a search to see if I could purchase new ones for a surprise gift. Unfortunately, new robes were not for sale. However, the welcoming clerk at cute gift was delightful to chat with, and the shop held a cornucopia of other practical items and souvenirs. Plan to eat at the great restaurant onsite! The delicious food make me wish my tummy had extra room to try more from the inticing menu. And the friendly waitstaff made dining a delightful adventure. Suggestion to guests planning to attend the hotel-promoted s'more night: arrange a reservation for beach chairs for your party or bring a towel if you want to sit. I'm so glad I decided to treat myself and my kids to this grand adventure. I'd highly recommend San Diego Mission Bay Resort to others. By the way, there was a wedding on location that was gorgeous. Surprisingly the sound from the reception did not affect our room location. Nosing around throughout my stay for at all catered onsite lunches and the wedding, I'm guessing this is a super location for event possibilities, as well. Gratitude to all involved for the experience and the memories. Read less

We stayed at this hotel to celebrate my son's birthday. As soon as we entered the room, there were decorations for Happy birthday on the wall and some balloons. My son was very happy with the wonderful surprise. It felt very special and at home. The room service cookies were our favorite. Highly recommended.
