The hotel

Transport yourself back in time and stay at the elegant Westgate Hotel in the Gaslamp Quarter. If you're visiting between Thursday and Sunday, afternoon high tea in the Grand Lobby is a must. The hotel is close to the famous Balboa Park, you can even see it from some of the rooms, and the area has plenty of restaurants, bars and boutiques. Set in the Gaslamp Quarter adjacent to Horton Plaza, and a 3-minute walk from the San Diego Civic Theatre. The hotel is 3 blocks from the 5th Avenue Light Rail Station.

Deluxe Rooms offer views of downtown San Diego, and have either 1 king-size bed or 2 queen-size beds, sleeping maximum 4 people. 

Premier Rooms are located on floors 11-18, offering uninterrupted panoramic views of downtown San Diego and the historic Balboa Park, with either 1 king-size bed or 2 queen-size beds, sleeping maximum 4 people.

Westgate Room (traditional French cuisine, open for all day dining). Grand Lobby (serving afternoon tea Thurs - Sun). The Veranda (open air dining, serving locally sourced seafood). Plaza Bar (serving drinks and light bites). Poolside dining available. Room service*.

Rooftop swimming pool and hot tub. AquaVie Fitness + Wellness Club with fitness centre, fitness classes, outdoor running track, spa*, sauna and steam rooms.

Restrooms were big and beautiful. The beds were very comfortable didn’t want to get up! Great service from everyone, everyone was very welcoming, especially Sarah. The hotel is in great location in downtown, close to downtown museums, zoo, La Jolla is about 20-24 min drive. The hotel entrance is good and lobby looks nice. Nice hotel, but did lack the personal touch!! Clean and roomy room. Nice comfortable bed and pillows. Staff varied on reception. The male receptionist was very welcoming and helpful. Location was good. I just left this hotel feeling that nothing in particular enhanced our stay. Only a 2 night stay so did the job!

I’ve stayed here a few times and I just want to say that specifically Keanna and Sarah were super helpful. They were both working one night and really stood out on how friendly/attentive they were to my girlfriend and I. On top of being really sweet, they offered a ton of good advice on things to do and when they were done helping, they even filled us in on a secret about the cookies here at the west gate! Something I never knew about in my past stays. They went above and beyond with exceptional service. The rooms were nice as always and it’s a perfect location.
