The hotel

You might feel like you’ve boarded a luxury cruise ship as you enter this distinctive boutique hotel, perched on the edge of the bay. The Argonaut’s original red brick walls, rich wood beams and ‘deck floors’ help to transport you back to San Francisco’s nautical heyday. At the same time, the plush décor provides all you need to settle in to your charming surrounds. Until, of course, those views of the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz lure you out to explore all that is Fisherman’s Wharf.

Nice hotel, centrally located. Staff helpful although when we checked in the gentleman that checked us in forgot to give us our continental breakfast vouchers so we went to breakfast the next day thinking it was included only to be told it wasn’t without the vouchers. The chairs in the corner of the restaurant where we were seated for breakfast were very stained and could do with a clean or re-upholstered. Breakfast was nice and we also tried the crab chowder one lunchtime which was also nice. I would stay here again. Read less

Nice hotel and location but haunted. My daughter and I stayed for 3 nights and barely got any sleep. We both were extremely hot even though the AC was on 64. I was up at night hearing loud noises. My daughter heard people running up and down the hall way, someone running on our ceiling, knocking on the walls and alarm noise. I had to google if… Read more

It is on the most haunted hotels of SF. We will not be staying here again. Read less

Hotel was clean, spacious and comfortable. We didn’t spend time in the lobby or bar but it looked nice. Location was great and area around the hotel felt pretty safe. Fairly close to great food in Chinatown and North Beach area. Overall had a good stay.

We recently visited the Argonaut to celebrate our 26th wedding anniversary. From start to finish, our experience was excellent and we loved everything about this hotel. From the prompt check in, even though they were swamped at the time, to the quick bell service and our friendly room attendant, Holly. We give service in those categories a 10/10. Every time we walked in or out we were greeted with a smile or hello. The location is perfection. Close to everything you want to see or a bus or cable car that will get you there. It’s also right across from souvenir shops and tons of restaurants should you be tired after a long day of exploring the city and not want to venture too far away at night. We stayed in a beautiful sailor view room on the 3rd floor that looked out to the marina and it was so pretty. The room was well appointed, super clean and although the hotel is older, you did not feel that in the level of cleanliness and bedding quality etc. We will forever remember this trip. We also had the joy of eating at the hotel restaurant, “The Blue Mermaid” for both dinner and breakfast and both meals were excellent as well. We were served by Javier at dinner, who was lovely. Attentive, kind and funny. I did not get the restaurant managers name but she was wonderful as well. Everyone is so friendly but not over the top. Service here as well as accommodation is above and beyond. We are seasoned travelers that go all over the world, and this hotel stands out and we will definitely be back. Thank you for the hospitality!! Read less
