The hotel

You might feel like you’ve boarded a luxury cruise ship as you enter this distinctive boutique hotel, perched on the edge of the bay. The Argonaut’s original red brick walls, rich wood beams and ‘deck floors’ help to transport you back to San Francisco’s nautical heyday. At the same time, the plush décor provides all you need to settle in to your charming surrounds. Until, of course, those views of the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz lure you out to explore all that is Fisherman’s Wharf.

Lovely hotel. Fantastic location with amazing Golden Gate Bridge view from our room. Hotel very clean. Angela on concierge was really helpful. Our friends had a zoom call with Angela and she helped them put together an amazing trip, with a great driver which was the highlight of our holiday. We were collected at 8am went across ggb stopped for photos, went to Sausalito which is beautiful, for breakfast, then on to Muir Woods- amazing and really worth seeing, we only stayed an hour and felt that was long enough. We then drove out to Napa where we visited 3 vineyards- we just had the most amazing experience there it really was the highlight for us. We had lunch pairing at one, charcuterie and red at another and final stop we had dinner and wine. From there we headed back to SF where we stopped again at GGB then on to Lombard Street which we drove down, finishing with a drive down Filbert street! Just amazing. Pier 39 is just a short walk from the hotel, we got some fab photos of the sea lions and had a few drinks in one of the bars. We loved the Buena Vista Irish bar across the road to the hotel. The cable car stop is just across the road in Ghirardelli square, we took a ride on this to Union square and back. We also walked up to the ferry for our trip to Alcatraz and was on the route for the open top bus- really is an excellent location. Would definitely stay there again- just loved that view first thing each morning! Read less

The location is just perfect for tourism, however the hotel provides very poor level of cleanliness (bathroom and toilets were very dirty). The global value delivered does not balance the price we paid.

I freaked out, and it was so hard to get a hold with anybody one the phone. we called the hotel 5 times, and one time a staff just rerouted me to the beginning and I have to listen to those advertisements and statements again, and wait on the line… Read more

Other than this issue, everything else was great. Read less

This hotel is all about location , the location was amazing . I would book again just for location , the is what you are paying for . The price you pay does not reflect the cleanliness or quality of the inside of the rooms or hotel . I was disappointed and underwhelmed by the rooms for what we paid per night.
Image of the Tripadvisor rating Great for Sharkfest

Aug 14, 2022 ssaito Seattle, Washington

Hotel left bars and bananas for everyone morning if the race. Also bathtub had drying racks we could hang wetsuits and bathing suits on to dry. Location could not be better for Sharkfest- minutes to finish line and bleachers area.
