With regards to getting a good nights sleep, which is generally what you expect when staying at a hotel, it was awful, the air con unit was right next to the bed, I almost jumped out of my skin when it sprung into action, so we turned it off, only to find another really loud noise! The lifts, OMG it was awful, every time we dropped off to sleep, the lift blasted past our room, kind of sounded like we were next to a train track. I asked if we could be moved and was told to come back at 12! This was not possible for us as we had plans. Basically the reception staff didn’t give 2 hoots about having a rubbish nice sleep, and when we checked out no one even asked if we enjoyed our stay. We will not stay again. Top tip - ask to be away from the lifts. Read less

My room is located on the top floor and the room is big enough. What I satisfied most about my room is it has a wonderful view. Regarding the breakfast…I must say it’s really beyond my expectation. The food tastes good and the restaurant staff were all well-trained. They showed their hospitality to serve the guests. In general it’s a wonderful IHG property and I will definitely come back if I visit SF next time. Read less

We had a great 4-night stay at this hotel. We were recognized for our status with IHG at the front desk. The housekeeping staff were so friendly and helpful. When we first arrived, we asked for a microwave, and it was delivered and set in our room fairly quickly. One night we asked for more tea and clean towels, and this delightful young man (he mentioned he'd just started working at this hotel recently) helped us empty our waste basket and quickly grabbed us new supplies, all with a genuine smile and positive attitude. We thoroughly enjoyed the view day and night. Our two-bed room on the 26th floor was not very big, but clean. It was two doors down from the elevators, and we could hear the elevator shafts working day and night from our room. This noise did affect our sleep. We knew the hotel would have gladly changed room for us if we requested, but we were already settled in and only figured out the source of the noise on the third night. The location was very central and close to all the attractions. We gladly paid for parking ($45/night) for our peace of mind. The parking fee is very reasonable in San Francisco. We chose this hotel mainly for its central location and convenient parking garage inside the hotel. There was a pool, fitness room, and guest laundry on the 6th floor. We walked to the nearby Polk Street, Trader Joe's, Whole Foods without any issue. Please use common sense as you would in bigger cities in the world. Thank you and please keep up the good work, Holiday Inn San Francisco-Golden Gateway. Read less

One small gripe I would say is our room on the sixth floor just had net curtains on the window, no blinds, curtains or anything so was quite bright all through the night, the light from the gas station across the road illuminated the room every night, didn’t bother me but could if you were a light sleeper. The pool area looked nice but unfortunately we didn’t have the weather to make use of it. Would certainly consider staying here again if I visit San Francisco again. Read less

Nice views but worst air quality in SF in years, they said, due to the CA wildfires burning far away. The long-distance view was hampered perhaps by smog, but I enjoyed the sights and watching the driver-less cars navigating the streets far below... The long-distance view was hampered perhaps by smog, but I enjoyed the sights and watching the driver-less cars navigating the streets far below... Heading south toward CityHall on foot, you run into the drugged-out and homeless, but i never felt threatened. Plenty of great food choices within walking distance and you could burn some calories walking up to WholeFoods or down to Polk St and back. Had great nights' sleep on the comfy bed, housekeeping was super responsive in bringing my extra towels and replacing the coffee. Room had a safe, fridge, large flat screen TV, hair dryer, iron and handheld garment steamer. My first time at an IHG property, the towels were kinda rough but I appreciated the pillows - marked soft and firm. I enjoyed my stay. Read less
