Omni San Francisco Hotel

San Francisco, California

The hotel

There's a friendly boutique atmosphere at the Omni, thanks in part to its Florentine Renaissance architecture. Built as a bank in 1926, the hotel is quite grand, with Italian marble and Austrian crystal chandeliers in the lobby. A great way to get your bearings in the city is to join the free Saturday morning walking tour — find out about its history, architecture, legends and more. Fortunately, you don’t need a guide to find your way to Bob’s Steak & Chop House, which serves some of the best steaks in town. Bob’s Bar is also popular; check out the monthly cocktail special, made using local ingredients.

The San Francisco Omni is consistently my favorite place to stay of all the places I stay when I travel! The folks are great, especially Kabin in Monte's and the entire check in crew! Rooms are quiet and comfortable, the in-room coffee is great and the workout area is perfect!

From the front desk to the room service staff, everyone was wonderful. Gabriel (I think that is the right name) who picked up my call for something to eat & drink rather late (about 8:00 pm) was especially accommodating.

Once again, a wonderful stay at the Omni. This is my go to San Francisco hotel. The ambiance, comfort and cleanliness are excellent. The staff are welcoming and helpful from the doorman to the desk to housekeeping. Did I mention housekeeping? Yes- despite many hotels cutting back on housekeeping, the Omni still gives you a choice and does not try to incentivize you to skip, and the staff is pleasant. Great location in the financial district and a short walk to the Ferry Building. The decor is traditional but I appreciate returning to these rooms with their inviting atmosphere and comfort and I love that they still have bathrooms with a tub. And quiet (though if that matters you might want to avoid a room on the front- the cable cars run right outside)! Someday this may change but for now I will continue to enjoy next time I’m in the area. Read less

I was traveling all week staying at major chain hotels, the Omni staff was fantastic. They made you feel very welcome. Hotel and room were very clean. Staff was positive and concerned about needs. I would defiantly recommend this hotel.

I know San Francisco is having a difficult time which spirals into more people staying away which spirals…. But my wife and I went there for a get away weekend and had a great experience. The Omni is a great hotel with an old time feel. The device is impeccable and the staff incredibly friendly and responsive. There was absolutely nothing negative about our stay and many positives. We will be going back for another weekend around Christmas. As for the City, yes it has changes and there are a lot of vacancies with more to come. I think, however, that their knuckleheads in local government now realize that the City will perish on the hill of ideology unless changes are made and quickly. We always felt safe, even walking at night and the homeless presence was there but to a much lesser extent than a year ago. Many restaurants have and will close but we had some great meals. It still has more character than any city this side of New York. Right now, with the downturn, there are exceptional hotel deals to be had. The Omni should be near the top of your list. I almost to say this because, amazingly, San Francisco has become somewhat of a hidden gym. Nevertheless, I urge you to give the City another chance. Read less
