The hotel

Put yourself slap-bang in the middle of some of San Francisco’s most fashionable theatres, restaurants, and sights. The boutique Marker Hotel is a great base — and its energy matches its setting. It was built in 1910 but you can still see its ‘Beaux Arts’ beauty in the lobby’s floor-to-ceiling fireplace and grand marble staircase. The hotel’s anything but olde-worlde though, with little touches like WiFi, and a Hydration Station providing fruit and herb infused water on tap.

Where is it

In the Lower Nob Hill area of San Francisco, near Union Square’s shopping, the theatre district, museums, and endless dining. The hotel is also close to the Financial District and Moscone Convention Center. Transfer time from San Francisco International airport: 15 minutes.

Did not have a good experience with billing and being charged something I shouldn't have and the hotel not willing to refund it. Did not have a good experience with billing and being charged something I shouldn't have and the hotel not willing to refund it. The reservation was under my friend's name and credit card but they charged my card a fee. It is very frustrating and because of this; I would not stay here again. The check-in was strange with homeless people ahead of us and there being a bit of a challenge about something getting fixed. We had to wait quite awhile before we could speak to anyone at the desk and check-in. The room was typical for SF and the bed was comfortable and the interior design was cute. Read less

Great accomadations. Disregard rumors of the Tenderloin. The Marker is located in a very safe location. I walked about 7 miles a day in this area. Great accomadations. Disregard rumors of the Tenderloin. The Marker is located in a very safe location. I walked about 7 miles a day in this area. The hotel has many upgrades and provides nicely situated comfort level along with very accommodating staff. They were all great. I miss them already. My room was slightly dated even with the renovation, but would not deteor a revisit back to this property. I stayed in the King suite with view. Altogether, The Marker presented a cordial stay with character and above average cleanliness. Whenever I needed towels or drinking glass replenishments it was always expedited. Read less

Big shout out to Melinda and the rest of the front desk and security team, they always remember me and it makes the experience that much better! They’re friendly and all but they promote false advertising. They tell you at the front desk everything is free down to the water bottles, coffee, parking, fitness center which they didn’t even tell us about and then charger you 150 out of your deposit even if you don’t use anything.
