The hotel

Tenaya Lodge’s setting takes some beating — bordering the Sierra National Forest and set on 75 stunning acres, it’s surrounded by nature. The hotel has plenty of activities, including a choice of trails and a guided walk to a hidden waterfall. Grab your hiking boots, or maybe a mountain bike, and head out to explore. At the end of the day, take a dip in the outdoor pool, get a s’mores kit and sit around the outdoor fire pits, or grab your torch and head out on a night hike. After all that activity, you’re likely to sleep well.

What a relaxing and enjoyable visit. The restaurants and atmosphere was eloquent. Planned activities throughout the day and into the evening with smores by the fire. exquisite gift shops on premises as well. The rooms were full of amenities and comfortable.

Reservations at this hotel are shaky at best. My reservation made last November was canceled by the hotel a month before our arrival date with no direct communication to me. I discovered it based on a credit to my card. I contacted the hotel and they indicated construction delayed room availability and I was apparently not a valued customer. They promised a manager would return my call, never happened, no accountability. Oh yeah my credit was $20 dollars short due to a cancellation fee, they canceled reservation not me. Maybe they have financial issues and need the $20 more than me. Then they sent me an invitation to provide a review of a stay that never happened. Huge business process issues all around. We scrambled and made different reservations at the last minute. They can not be trusted. Read less

After a number of back and forth texts though, I received an apology, upgrade, amenity, and they reinstated my reservation. I’m already looking forward to returning next year as the grounds are breathtaking, the staff are kind, friendly, and helpful, cottages are clean and cozy, and food is good. Tenaya is hard to beat! The staff at Tenaya were amazing and helpful; they went above and beyond and found me a great room even though they were pretty much booked to capacity. And the charge was less than Booking.com. I highly recommend this hotel as a great place to begin a journey to Yosemite. I had a great day tour with the hotel’s Yosemite 360 Tours and do it again Read less
