Image of the Tripadvisor rating Business Trip -- Will Chose Somewhere Else next time

OK -- one night of business trip and they tacked on an "amenity fee" that totaled nearly $24 with tax. Seriously, these "amentity" fees are nothing more than a money grab and I expect better. Shower was a trickle. Never could get the wireless to work. Everything was clean and the room was otherwise nice. But I'm going somewhere else next time.

Some of the recent reviews "scared" us. When we arrived, the staff was very helpful and courteous. We self-parked across the street for $28 per night as opposed to $70 for valet. Hotel is great location for park and happenings downtown. Very clean, no issues with check-in, room cleanliness or access. Columbus Tap was a bit over-priced, but the… Read more

If you want to stay in a nice place and be scammed, then this is the place for you. We booked and paid through hotels.com. Upon checking in they charged us $100 for incidentals. Which we authorized. The next morning the hotel charged us for the nights stay. We immediately called and the hotel admitted charging with no reason. They did not have authorization either. They used our credit without permission. After receiving the run around, they hung up on us. We then called hotels.com and repeated the situation. After asking if hotels.com and fairmont were splitting the interest received from holding our money, they hung up on us. The hotel said they will not refund our $400 for five days. Read less
Image of the Tripadvisor rating Not special

We splurged on two nights at the Fairmont Chicago - we stayed at a Fairmont in Banff 15 years ago amd remembered it so fondly. However, there is nothing special about this hotel - certainly not worth the price. The $20 daily “amenity fee” for wifi and calls is an insult. Next time I will spend my money more wisely.

the upgrades we received given the lack of gold level rooms were wonderful. We loved our room. We were not impressed with the front desk people in terms of their advice on places to go and eat. Many seemed to not know very much about the city.
