Best of all, as with any Fairmont, was the unmatched service. Everywhere we went there was a friendly hotel staff ready to greet us with a smile and provide assistance. We especially appreciated the help offered by the concierge, Gail Walker. She as ready to answer all of our questions about dining, sight seeing and getting around Chicago, which was greatly appreciated since it was our first trip to the area. Read less

I was there for a conference. The receptionist was very welcoming and accommodating for our needs. The rooms were really nice and clean. The location was great and close to many of the attractions in chicago. Over all great experience. Highly recommend

I stayed at the Fairmont Chicago while on a business trip. The staff were quick at check in and attentive in both the restaurant and Gold Lounge.

This hotel is beautiful and in a fantastic location, however I was very disappointed with my experience overall. When I arrived, I was given the wrong type of room key for my room and couldn't get in, so I had to bring all of my luggage back downstairs to have my key replaced. The room I was provided with was a wheelchair accessible room, I am guessing because it was a very busy week in Chicago with many conventions, however I was not a fan of the way the water from the shower would spread over half of the bathroom floor. Another major issue with the shower in this room (603) is that the temperature markings for the shower are reversed - In order to get even lukewarm water you have to turn the handle all the way over to C - if you turn it to H all you get is cold water. My room also did not have any hand soap when I checked in. Did any of these issues ruin my stay? No. I am not that easily upset. But overall the experience was one I would expect from a much cheaper and lesser caliber hotel than a Fairmont, so there is certainly some room for improvement. Read less

Booked through Amex platinum fine hotels 4/11-414. Upon checked in front desk person cold and lifeless- no greetings. I asked for upgrade availability and flat out said no without looking. Ok fine- then gave us an old room at 6th floor that has moldy toilet, shower tiles. No shower gel and tissues replaced for 3 days. Toilet paper was rough and cheap. Next day I addressed the toilet mold and front desk said I’ll take care of it and didn’t even look at the pictures I took. It seemed like he just wants to brush me off. Needless to say, it was not taken care of. We had breakfast at the hotel lobby and food was poor quality. Corned beef hash was horrible and server served the food with his thumb inside the plate next to the food! Thank goodness I had the $100 food credit otherwise this is not worth it! The night before check out, I went to front desk and informed them that I will be checking out at 3pm. He looked at my room and said, I can only stay till 1 pm without charge. I said to him that I have a guaranteed late checkout till 4pm through Amex fine hotel reservations and never had a problem. He said as a courtesy , I’ll do it. I’m appalled that he didn’t know the late check out guarantee. Upon checkout, front desk asked how was everything and I said not so good. He didn’t acknowledged nor asked why . Same person that checked me in. Still unfriendly. On my bill, they charged me $75 for 3 nights for urban experience. Through my Amex reservation it was written $60 for 3 nights due upon checkout. I’m just so tired that I didn’t even address it. I will never stay here again - unfriendly / unhappy staff, cleanliness was an issue and lackluster hotel . Read less
