We booked Hotel Allegro for our wedding block back in 2019, and finally had our celebration in Nov 2021 (postponed twice due to COVID). Throughout the entire planning process, the team at Hotel Allegro was responsive and helpful. They consistently gave us updates throughout with how many people were booked in our block so that we could remind our guests to make travel arrangements. They helped us deliver welcome bags, and allowed us to have a pizza dinner the night before the wedding with our guests. We also had a post-wedding brunch at the hotel afterward, and it was set up so nicely (hot and fresh food in cast iron skillets instead of the "typical" hotel continental breakfast and good teas and coffee selections). I arrived late on a Friday and was immediately enchanted by the gold stair railings that lined the stairway to the 2nd floor lobby. Check in was a quick, efficient process and I made my way to my room. It’s a very small room, but beautifully designed. I got settled in and pulled back the covers to find myself in one of the most comfortable beds I’ve ever slept in. Four large fluffy pillows and a down comforter that were absolute perfection. In the morning I went to the lobby for my morning cup of ambition and that’s when I fell in love. There are so many seating areas to choose from! A group of ladies were chatting on a large velvet sectional, another couple had found a cozy spot in a corner, I found my way to a lovely chaise lounge and decided that this is it, I live here now. All of the staff is gracious and helpful, from the bartenders to the front desk staff. I didn’t mind that the hotel didn’t have food options because it meant that I could sit at the bar and order chocolate cake delivered from Portillo’s to enjoy with my glass of red wine. Do not miss an opportunity to stay at this beautiful hotel. Trust me on this! Read less

Stayed one night to run the Chicago marathon. Hotel was conveniently located, walking distance to Chicago riverfront, Grant Park, and Magnificent Mile. Room was comfortable — a little old but generally well maintained. Enjoyed the spacious common area in the lobby. Staff were friendly and accommodating of my request to check out late.

No way this is a four star hotel in 2021. Tiny rooms (smaller than low priced hotels in London), no restaurant open, no housekeeping service (even on request - have not seen this at any other hotels despite covid), no water or any refreshments in room. Sad.

The team running this hotel is special. There’s a genuineness and sincerity that I frankly don’t deserve. The bellmen and front desk staff are attentive and helpful in every way. Nick Soppe and a bellmen with a 1920s vibing vest scrambled to find a perfect Fedora for me upon hearing I felt underdressed on the way to a 1920s themed event.
