I was very intrigued when Hyatt announced their Caption brand, but with the only current hotel in Memphis, I didn't think I would be visiting it anytime soon. As luck would have it, I found myself in Memphis for work with an opportunity to check out this property. The hotel is located in downtown Memphis right by the Mississippi river. Parking in the area is a bit sparse, but valet offers unlimited in and out privileges and only cost $30 a day. As you walk into the lobby, it's immediately clear that the hotel has a very different vibe compared to other Hyatt properties. There is a cafe/restaurant/bar to your left in the lobby, general hangout space with couches and chairs, and even a pool table. The lobby really encourages you to hangout and enjoy yourself. I had a kind room deluxe which was a spacious room, with a desk and an oversized chair in the corner. The room itself was was colorful and lively, but was somewhat of a mixed bag. The sheets/bedding was excellent, and the towels were nice and fluffy. The sink in the bathroom is kind of small and there shower I took at night was lukewarm. The room has no carpet, but there is a run under the bed. There was a decent size refrigerator, and some hangers but no closet. There was also a safe in the room. I was impressed with the gym area at the hotel. It was very spacious and modern with a separate yoga studio. The gym contained treadmills, a rowing machine, and stationary bikes. There wasn't much in the way of weights, but there was a full rack of dumbbells. The space was large, clean, and modern. The restaurant downstairs offers the usual breakfast options with some southern dishes sprinkled in. One of the really interesting things about this property is that it is directly attached a Hyatt Centric. There is a small hall that connects the two properties. You can eat at either property and charge it to your room. The hotel is pet friendly and does have a pool. I spoke to the woman working the check-in desk and she said that in the two years the hotel has been open, business has been good and they are sold out most nights. Overall a pretty good property. Exceptional hotel in great location. Everyone was very professional and answered all our questions and queries. Friendly and talented staff in every area and a wonderful experience. So convenient to what we came to Memphis to experience on this quick visit, and we will definitely keep Caption on the top of our list for future travel.

The hotel is the best! We have stayed here two years in a row! Can’t wait for next year! The location is perfect for the run! It is just a short walk to the starting line as well as finish line! Great food close by.

A friend worked at this hotel, I honestly wouldn't stay there, they never change the blanket you sleep on, and some of the Housekeeping staff who worked with her didn't change the sheets, they only made the bed with used sheets!

As an architect, I chose this hotel based on the unique design aspects, and it didn't disappoint. We had a King room, that was on the street side. The bed and pillows were comfortable, the room was so cute, loved the shower. The bar downstairs made a great cocktail that we took up to our room for a night cap, the valet service was amazing, (shout out to Darius who was also awesome). We liked that our car was kept in a secure, gated lot overnight (worth the $32). Only complaint was that I wish it wasn't just a one-night stop over on our road trip home. We would have been more than happy to stay here for a few days for sure and will probably stay here again if we do come back in the future. And Memphis is an AMAZING city. Read less
